hi!! so exciting! my family of 5 plans on going to mnsshp sept 17, which is going to be my sons 5 bday!! It will be oir first time at mnsshp. I am soooo excited! Do most adults dress too?? We will be staying at cr from sept 10-18!! Cant wait!! The kids know we are going in the fall we surprised them with a delivery from a 4 ft mickey mouse balloon and a box from mickey and pals filled with goodies and the good news! However they dont know when we are leaving, going to wake them up that morning and surprise them!! :-)

We're going September 2-9!! We usually go in late August and have manageable crowds, but I'm hoping for even lower ones this trip! We're also hoping for free dining and are holding off on paying the trip off until we hear about a discount (assuming there will be one-- seems like there always is this week!)
We already booked our flights-- got nonstops from NYC for $218 round trip, which is awesome! We'll be staying at Port Orleans Riverside, our favorite!!
So excited to follow this thread and read about everyone's plans!

Our family of 5 will be at WDW Sept 17-23rd! Our first trip to Disney! We are hoping to keep it a secret from our two youngest until the morning that we leave. We did tell our oldest since she is 16 and I figured she would want to pack for herself. Plus, I didn't want to book her for things she might think of as to babyish. She is very excited and is loving knowing something her brothers don't know! :) Oh and this will be my kids first time ever on an airplane!

We are doing the dining plan and we already made all our reservations plus our two youngest are getting pirate makeovers. Staying at POR and we are planning on going to MNSSHP on the 20th. Same day as our boys pirate league appointments so I don't have to pack costumes or buy them there! :)

Congrats on the first trip! It's going to be awesome, a time you'll never forget-- enjoy!

Hello all! We are hoping to book our vacation for the 9-22 to 9-27. We had been waiting for the FD rumors to start flying and well I saw today they are starting to swirl. Hope they are right and we can book soon. Traveling will be myself, DH, our 2 sons and my parents. We plan to book at POR and will be driving from southeastern PA. Much cheaper that way. Our oldest son will celebrate his bday (9/24) in WDW. So exciting!!!

Just so you are aware, over the last two years, Danny25's discount announcements have been "spot on" and have not been predictions. He has some sort of inside information to what is coming. His word is golden when it comes to these. Consider this free dinning coming.

We also are going 9/22-9/27! My niece and sister are going with us and my niece's bday is also 9/24. We are having similar trips :goodvibes We were going to stay at CBR but I think I've decided just to go AsMo and upgrade the dining. This will save us close to $700 and that's money we can spend in the parks. :cool1: We are driving from Kansas City Missouri so our trip will be a bit longer than yours but well worth it. Have a great time! :beach:

We're officially going Sept. 15-21! Now I just need to book!

And, how great to add to my exciting day: Southwest deal for $152 each leg of the trip (Denver to Orlando)!:banana::banana::banana:

How awesome!! My Dad vetoed our attempt to stay in the family suites at AoA. He loves POR, and so does DH so that's fine. But I may request AB rooms since we've always been in the mansions.

Booked yesterday for POR September 7-13!!!! May change that to the 8-14 because of the Villains thing on the 13th. But we're booked!!! WOOHOO!!!!

I am so excited to be booking a trip to Disney from September 23-28. It will be me, DH, DD1 and DD2. I think this time we will be staying at a value resort. We are leaning towards ASMo. Can't wait! Only 149 more days!

So-- opinions are wanted.

We were going to start a little souvanier fund for each individual child. This is kind of a special trip-- we usually just do day trips or weekend camp outs or *maybe* occasionally go to an all star resort for a weekend. This is our first actual week-long trip, moderate resort, etc...

So we wanted to set a little set aside each week in pocket change so when they go there they don't have to beg us, they have their own spending money (which also imposes their own spending limits, lol).

We were wondering if we should give them
- cash
- gift cards
- Disney dollars (something we've heard of but never used, but can they be used just about any Disney store? It might be a fun option)

My husband also considered pre-paid Visa cards or something but I don't even know if they'd be old enough/allowed to use those.

They're 10+ so they have their own wallets/bags and can handle their own register purchases, that's why we want to give them their own little 'fund' but we're not sure how to present it, how it would be most convenient.

I would just go with a Disney Gift Card!

I took my ds 3yrs ago & am going back in sept this yr. both times I made him save his allowance and we put it in his bank account. He has to use his own money on things he wants. It's a good way to teach them responsibility. I think your idea is great.
