New Security CM uniform requirement… that no one seems to like.

I’m kind of wiped out after my trip home to Chicago (I arrived back in LA last night) and then rope-dropping DL this morning so this will be an especially brief report.

The weather was spectacular this morning and crowds were the lightest I’ve seen in quite some time. I met a few groups from UTAH and discovered that they’re all (are mostly) in the midst of their fall break.

Saw a few CMs I know, which was nice. As of today, security CMs now have to wear white security vests with bright/Day-Glo yellow patches. The one friend I spoke with hates wearing it and I got the same feeling from his partner.

Scoring has been broken on Buzz since at least last Thursday and continued to be so today. No one got scores and there was no leader board. I scored 1.9M on my first ride and around 1.5M on my second. That’s when I ran into the nice family that I met at Buzz about six weeks ago. They weren’t happy about it either and we agreed that two rides without scores was enough.

A few notes about the pics below:
  • I realize that the one shot from POTC isn’t great but I’m not a pro photographer and don’t know how to pull off a low-light-while-also-moving pic.
  • The very large crowd pic was sent from friends at rope drop on Friday that 13th. I have never seen the park so full.

A few more pics plus some bonuses from my visit home to Chicago. The last few were taken at Joan Cusack’s tchotchke shop on the near north side DBA Judy Maxwell Home (the name of Barbra Streisand’s character from her favorite movie What’s Up, Doc?).

Great photos! I was just about to ask where at Disney did you find that cool Willy Wonka sticker in the second to last photo, till I read your post...darn, I was definitely going to get a few of those Wonka stickers!

I love WW! Indeed, you may have seen my WW Halloween costume. I’ve worn it (or some variation of it) for a few Halloweens at the park. Also, several years ago I was in Munich and went and found the actual “Wonka factory.” I posted a YT video comparing its past and present appearance.

Ha ha...wonderful! Sorry, but this will be my last off-topic reply, I never particularly liked WW (the story or the movie) as a child but for some reason as an adult I love it...the story, the character, gene wilder (RIP), the music/song, the vintage vibes...you name it!

No worries about posting off-topic :-). Makes for a lively dialog.

I loved WW from the first time I ever saw it. Two anecdotes.

1. When I was quite young, my mom took my sister to see it but I was sick and couldn’t go. In my mind, they were going to the actual chocolate factory, not merely the movie. It didn’t help that my sister lied and told me they’d take a balloon to get there ;-).

2. The first time I ever saw it in color was with a childhood friend at her house when I was about eight. I met up with that same person a few days ago when I was home in Chicago. She was a dancer growing up and is still in spectacular shape. She also lives in a massive house; the largest I’ve ever been in. Lastly, she’s exceptionally kind and has a lot of personal depth. I see her every time I go home.

such great photos! And I just watched What's up Doc a couple nights ago...such a great movie!

WW is my go to make me feel good movie!

I’ve never forgotten :-). But oddly enough, I don’t drink or eat refined sugar so neither ever cross my lips :-).
Do you often dress up in a Willy Wonka costume at DL? We have seen a middle aged gent dressed up in one in our several visits.

I wouldn’t consider Rob “middle aged”… :rotfl2:
Thank you!! Neither would I :-).

i was going to ask, “who‘s that young fellow over in front of the Hyperion????"
Thanks²!
Seems like we never see you over in that neck of the woods…would love to see a pic of you and Cap…or Loki….😁
You're correct. I rarely visit that park. Perhaps three times a year at most. But a friend wanted a Minnie Mouse OBB sipper that was only available in DCA so I got my visa approved and made a brief ambassadorial visit. Presumably I enjoy diplomatic immunity at DCA ;-).

I’m staying out of the ”is or is not Rob middle aged” discussion 😉, but if you look at his profile photo, is he the one you have seen, or has someone swiped his awesome Dapper Day look??

Rob, happy to see you got out the passport and ventured to DCA! I thought I must have sent you looking for something for my DD that I had forgotten about, but I was glad to read that you were there shopping for someone else (and that I had not, in fact, lost my mind!)!

Come to think of it, so am I ;-).

I meant to mention to you that I also checked to see if there were any of the OBB pins left. I was told that they were long gone :-).
