Wow. thanks for all of the great suggestions guys! I did get to ask my new boss about the 2 days off - he said yes - so atleast we can 'officially" plan. (I have the time saved up w/ over 11 yrs at the university - just didnt want to push things w/ a new position - but he said its cool if I have the time.):thumbsup2 :cool1:

I'd  to do WDW - just have never done it for such a short time - keep wondering if its 'worth' it... anyone here ever gone for just a 3/4day quickie? It almost seems like it might be a let down?

I'd do the Great Wolf in a minute Mary, the cubs do LOVE them - but we did make an un-official rule a while ago to always have a one parent top child ratio when there.Even though the 9 yr old is a stron swimmer - we've seen some things there that make us pretty uncomfortable.

I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE NYC. but my older cub said he wanted to see it for the first time w/Papa Bear - hard to argue w/ that. cute.

The cubs vote for WDW - so do I really....hmmm. lots of money, but then anywhere is. We even thought about the train to save some money - its like a red eye - you get on one evening and arrive in Orlando the next am - kind of cool, but 15 hrs on a train is a loonnnng time too....ack.....decisions....

Is this a church play or community play? Sounds like fun but lots of time and work! Have a good time!
It is a church play, we have 3 performances on 12/12-12/14. Yeah, luckily for me I am not a LEAD character, those 4 have practices 4 times a week already, but I have the speaking/drama etc practices on Tuesdays and then the music practice on Sundays, then starting on Nov 2 we add choreography blocking every other Saturday afternoon, and of course the week before the show we have like 5 rehearsals. Every time I say that I am taking off a couple days during that week, and every year I forget to do it. It is exhausting, but it is so much fun and a great way to build friendships with the folks in it. I love performing, too, its an awesome high!

We usually do 4 nights/5 days...I would do a 3nt/4 day trip in a heartbeat..I Love WDW, even if it is a quickie. As long as you lay it out to th e kids first, that it IS a short trip and they won;t get to see/do everything, you should do ok...esp. since you were just there in August...you could either plan to do what you missed then, or make a list of favorites you'd like to do again this time.

It is expensive, but then, anywhere is. Maybe start by checking airfare...maybe Southwest will have a Ding, or Air tran could have a deal too.

Wherever you decide to go...Have Fun!!!

Kat-- G/l with the yard sale Sat. We'll be participating in a community yard sale this weekend too. Best wishes to that family. How's the little kitty doing?

Stormie is doing great. Growing a bit, losing more of the black color to golden color. More friendly and not so cautious, though she keeps a good eye on the younger kids when they are there! Thanks for asking.

Yeah, pray about the yard sale. If I hadn't yet this is Maggies' website. www.cotaformaggies.com . They did a nice article on her in Sunday's paper: http://www.dailypress.com/dp-local_tamara_0928sep28,0,7556022.column .

The picture isn't there, but she is so cute looking! And having the "lucky fin" brings it home to us!

Hey Bear! Head south & get a house at Nags Head. Or 4 days in the World? :lmao: The mountians are pretty now and you can do the easy trails in the Shendoah's or Blue Ridge. Or take them to VT, Cascades or Smith Mt. Lake. Or maybe crabtree falls?

Let us know what you decide. We only get Monday that week as a teacher work day!:confused3

Hey Chrissie feel better.

Good luck Kristi.

Ginger-- Sorry I missed the part where Poppa Bear wasn't going. Is Kings Dominion or Bush Gardens still open?

Yes, I"ve been checking flights a bit....no great deals. Part of the reason we thought about the train... It seems weird in a way to go since as you said we were there in August, but somehow that makes me want to go more - catch the things we missed, see the SUN (we were there during the huge rain of 2008!) , etc, etc. What DO they put in the water there that makes us all sooo addicited?!

I knew you'd have some great ideas!!! Thanks!:thumbsup2 :goodvibes We are seriously considering going on a bear hunt in the mountains.....we had such a great time on the day trip we took last month and there is a cool lodge up there thats not too costly, as its part of the park system.

Hey Chrissie feel better.

Good luck Kristi.

Hi there Kitty Korral! Sorry didn't know you were on. I vote for WDW if you aren't coming to NY to visit us! You can be the Queen of nicknames, because I have decreed it to be so!:snooty: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 :lmao: :lmao:

I know, I think the boys would be the most happy w/ WDW - maybe mom too.... I just feel like I ought to expose them to something else ....right??

Have you ever been to Hershey PArk? I think it was Kel and T that said ti wasnt so great? But, maybe just for a short trip.... Since its Halloween weekend they have some special activities.... Wonder if WDW has set the bar too high for other parks though?

Well last time I was to Hershey Park I was 10. I liked it then, but imagine it may be a bit different now!:lmao: I think it is hard to go to other parks after WDW. To me the other parks don't seem as clean or friendly. A couple of years ago we went to Disney for a long weekend. I think we went down on Thursday and came back on Monday or Tuesday :confused3 . It was the last weekend in Sept into Oct 1 or 2. We had just been there in July, so the quick trip was fine as we didn't have that rushed feeling that we had to take in everything. I'm sure your cubs would be happy to just be in the pool!

Yes, WDW does set a high standard. And yes, they would be happy just to paly in the pool! Which is just a tad frustrating since our gym has an indoor pool. But the 9 yo pointed out that that pool isnt in Flrodia!:lmao: He IS like his dad and likes the weather hot - they both say its not vacation if its not hot.

I have just been looking at the Hershey website - looks pretty ok. But, wow,the hotels right there are super high! The Hershey Hotle looks like :cloud9: ....we wont be staying there by the way!:lmao:

I find Disney hotels to be much cheaper than other hotels... and cleaner and nicer too! OK I can;t stay at the Grand Floridian, but the values and moderates are very reasonable and lovely. I know that around here hotels can be very expensive, even for a dumpy hotel!

And friendlier too! :thumbsup2 We thought that last week in Philly, it wasn't that anyone was RUDE (except the shuttle driver that didn't come to get us for 2 hours and then got all snippy), but they weren't going out of their way to be helpful like they were at Disney, either.

HI KRisti!!!!@ (We're never on at the same time - too cool!:goodvibes )

Yeah....my little cub is DYING to go back to POP.....dad didnt love it but since he wont be there it IS the perfect time. If only I could find some cheap flights - we'd prob be there...wish we had Southwest here. (Though wouldnt know how to Ding if you paid me...) They do fly out of Norfolk, only 2 hrs from here - worth the drive for a deal. But the bit I looked....not so great.

Thats why we thought about the train - we can all get there and home for $360. But 15 hrs (each way) on a train seems crazy....but the cubs actualyl like the idea and they would prob sleep a fair amount of the time (as opposed to me.. )

Hi, VA! I imagine the kids think the train is an adventure, I am sure the girls would think that way about it, and the price difference sounds like it would be worth trying it. Although I am SURE that it is not as romantic as it sounds going on a train trip, it sounds kinda fun to me. :thumbsup2
