Hey all! I'm so excited we finally bought our first rv, I would never tell my friends the primary reason we had to have one ( longer Disney trips) hehe!! Anyways does anyone have some suggestions on a campground to stop at in Jacksonville off the 95? Looking for a quick stop/setup, it will be kind of late just want to make sure it's sufficient and safe! Also looking for best place to stay night before check in once we get to Orlando, we want to go day early but there's no availability at the fort. We just want to be close so we can enjoy the parks and dining a day early! We might not even set up just use facility's so I'd like someplace with nice comfort stations!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of camping!
I can't help with J'ville.
Lake Magic and Tropical Palms are campgrounds close to WDW.

Congratulations! I'm working to follow in your footsteps before terribly long? Who's traveling and what did you end up with? Enjoy!:thumbsup2

We have stayed at the st. Mary's/ Jacksonville north koa. Easy on easy off I-95 and a decent place. The campground is in Kingsland GA but very close to the border with FL. It is 191 miles/ 3 hrs. 30 min. Away from the fort. Free waffle breakfast!

Congratulations! How exciting for you.

If you search for Jacksonville, FL, on Google Maps, and "Search Nearby" for RV Campgrounds, you will get a lot of information and reviews and websites.

Happy Trails!

:drive:

Congratulations!!! :cheer2:

And ditto this:

We've stayed twice now and they are very nice there, and super convenient to hop off and on 95. Nice little pool, too, during the warmer months. And the free waffles are a bonus :) The other convenient thing about this location is the exit right before it is a KMart and a Publix, so you can re-stock and pick up anything you forgot.

Congrats! What did you get?

We stay at Pecan Park Rv Resort easy on and off I95 and all pull thru sites. We don't even unhook.

Wow thanks guys I'm going to have to check out the Koa and pecan park! Right off 95 is a plus!! We got a Keystone outback 30qbh I'm so excited to have found it it's exactly what we needed for our family! It's me my DH my 3DD and my 9DD! I'm super bummed that we can't stay at the fort the first night but the closer the better :)

If you want to get a little closer we have stayed at Stagecoach Rv Park at exit 318, St Augustine. Very nice, quiet and you can pull right thru. We bought a 25 ft Outback last year and we love it also. Enjoy, Pat

We travel that route and always stay at Pecan Park (31/2 hours from WDW). Leave and go east on 295 toward beaches A MUCH better ride and drive than thru town or 295 west... That just my two cents worth!!!!!!

Pecan Park folks, a couple of questions if you don't mind:

1. do they have a dog park?
2. what are the general rates?

Their web site is a little lacking in details. I could email them but I thought I'd ask you guys first :)

I totally agree with this, but be mindful of any heavy wind conditions with an RV if you go that way. You will have to cross a pretty tall bridge (Dames Point Bridge) on the Eastside of the 295 loop, and if it's extra windy, you may want to consider taking the Westside loop. Otherwise, on a typical day, it's a beautiful ride. :)

Going through downtown right now is a nightmare at any time of the day with all of the construction, and it's not likely to be completed by the time you take your trip. We live just south of Jax, and it's even confusing for a lot of the locals. :rotfl:

Going through downtown Jax has been a nightmare for years, it seems - is it always under construction? :crazy2:

We usually go 295 also, even when it was hwy. 9. But I do 'hate' that bridge on 'any' day - something about going high over water in our MH gives me the 'willies' - maybe I can 'see' too good! LOL I do agree about going over towing a trailer though - they are lighter in the wind and sort of scary! :)
