New Reservation Policy - Have Your Names Ready

Also just to say again as it seems that it was missed... The reason that the names are being added is because that is what the guests wanted.

I will admit, I have made comments asking for this specific thing, but it is usually just DH and I so I hadn't even thought about the implications of adding children to the mix.

I think maybe this is for EMH. Now everyone will have an ID with their name on it to stay in the parks.

Could the change be related to the new Magical Express and the new baggage handling? I woukd think that they would need actual names to confirm passenger arrivals and to handle picking up and checking bagage at the airport.

There's something every parent wants to see - An officially printed plastic card telling their 10 year old they are an adult!

Personally - I have no problem with this. As long as names can be changed at checkin in if something comes up, its a non-issue. My DW will be happy NOT being me, and I'm SURE the kids will love having cards with their names on them.

I suspect it's not any one particular thing but just the new standard operating procedure. They now need names and ages for all park passes. While this doesn't FORCE them to do the same for reservations, it's probably simpler to just use the same procedures. And there will no doubt be situations where that information can be put to good use. I for one will be glad to no longer be handed four cards with my name on them!

Personally I think it has to do with room occupancy levels.

I think after you check in as Mr. David Jones, with wife Sally and kids Bobby and Susie as shown on your reservation, there better not be anyone else in that one bedroom unit.

If so at midnight the DROST (Disney Room Occupancy Swat Team) will swoop in with a read out and say "OK, David, Sally, Bobby, and Susie you are legit and can stay, the rest of you on the Aero Beds, Get Out!"

Haven't read all the post, but I know my DH will be glad to have a card with his name on it!!

I usually make the reservations and my name is on the cards.

I think this is great, really don't care why.

The new system was activated on 1/2/05 and requires the names of each individual in the room with ages. It does save time at c/i if the info is already there in the system for the front desk host/hostess. However, they can insert names at c/i as well. If no names are given at the time of booking, the systems recognizes each person as "John Smith" (the primary person making the res), "Adult02 Smith", "Child01 Smith", etc. You can have the names put on when you arrive if not done before. We find that the kids love having their own name on the room keys. I think as we all work with the new system, the reservation castmembers will begin to automatically ask this information.

I think this new system is great, especially when you make multiple room ressies for married children or parents with different last names etc.

Now everyone will have there own kttw cards, room keys will not be mixed up. "My key didn't open my door" ups?? you have my key!!, NO that's mine!! as we get now.

Nice going Disney, now finally a good Reservation system to track your stays. I happen to like being remembered and called by name when making reservations. It makes me feel that I count and not just another number!!!

I am assuming that the card for my 4 and 8 year will not be able to be used for charging. My bigger concern on the cards for my kids is that if they will be able to be used as a key to our room. Am I able to request that the cards for my kids are not for charging and for room access?

I honestly don't see the big deal with this at all. I think my kids would love to have their names on their ID's. I also can see how it would help with EE and the new magical express thing. My kids names are on their checked bags, not mine. As some have stated it may also cut down on going over the occupancy and I'm NOT talking about 5 in a 1 bdrm, I know MS allows this! I don't want to start any kind of occupancy arguement! I am talking about the locked occupancy thread on the budget board. The people who say they put 7 or 8 in a value room but only list 4. How will the people without ID's get into EMH or EE? If names are on them they won't be able to "share" the cards. I mean a 32 year old man can't use a child's ID card!

I'm sure we'd be able to stop charging privledges on kids cards. We hold our kids cards in the parks anyway, so I'm not worried about the unlocking the door thing.

Hmm...they didn't ask me for any name other than my own when I made my reservation this morning. I even mentioned that our son is joining us on the second day. All she asked was how old he is and when she found out that he's an adult, that was that.

Perhaps they're leaving this for when you check in.

Last Thursday when I spoke with MS just before hanging up she wanted to verify all names on the rooms I have reserved. When I got to the under 3 crowd she said she wouldn't need them as they don't require a ticket. This didn't make much sense to me as none of us will be linking our park tickets to our room keys. Some will have AP'S,PAP'S or MYW. Maybe she meant to say room key. Susan

I wasn't asked anything except number of adults in each room when I made reservations for two studios this morning. However, I was asked again for last 4 digits of SS#, verify address, verify home phone number even though I answered the same questions on Friday!

Thanks for info. I know thaat my 4 and 8 year and my 11 year old neice will want to hold on to their cards. I think I will just ask for the card to be for ID purposes only, not a room entry key.
