New Reservation Policy - Have Your Names Ready

Last Thursday when I spoke with MS just before hanging up she wanted to verify all names on the rooms I have reserved. When I got to the under 3 crowd she said she wouldn't need them as they don't require a ticket. This didn't make much sense to me as none of us will be linking our park tickets to our room keys. Some will have AP'S,PAP'S or MYW. Maybe she meant to say room key. Susan

I saw on a thread on the theme parks board that they are asking for ID's to match the room keys in order to get wristbands for EMH (extra magic hours). I'm sure the id check is just for adults, they want to prevent people from passing their key cards to get extra wristbands for people not staying onsite.

I was asked for our names - But when i told her I would like for mine to read as Erin - (middle name that I have used ALL MY LIFE) I was told she could not change that as it "auto populates" What???? prior to DVC when I made ressies I gave my name and WOW the cards said Erin.

Maybe I will try an get someone else who is willing to delete some letters and add just 4. It is just a pet peeve of mine. I do not use a nick name it is part of my legal name and a perferred name.

OK off my soap box... DS will love seeing his name now on the card!

Yes she meant room keys, Those under 3 will not have an ID card therfore they don't need their names.

I know they can change the names as it comes up on their screens, member cards and room keys. I know because they have mine. It did take asking for them to change it, mostly because I despise calling and being addressed by my first name. I don't really care about the cards or keys though, just hate it verbally. My guess is they actually changed the way it was listed in their system in spite of what was on the deed.

I made ressie a couple weeks ago for my July family trip, and the CM asked for the names and ages.

I made a ressie for our October trip and CM didn't ask me for the names just how many adults and children would be coming. I had to ask for my DH's name to be put on the ressie so he could check us in this time and I could go look around. ;)

I called MS to ask a questions about our reservation and she said she needed the names for the reservations. I have three rooms reserved. I was glad I got it done before we get there, I did not want to have to do it while checking in.

Maybe it is for Security? Just throwing out one more idea....
If this isn't the reason, it should be. These days, it makes perfect sense for Disney to know who is in their rooms. Taking it one step further, they could perhaps run these names through some sort of "no fly list". :drinking:

I read on one of the other boards a few weeks ago (I think it might have been the resorts boards) that they would be starting this for the regular resorts, I wondered if they would start it for the DVC resorts as well. I remember thinking that my husband would be happy because they always put my name on the cards since I make the reservations and he hates that when he uses it a a resturant, people think they are funny when they hand it back to him and say thank you Mrs. XXXX XXXXX.

My husband has said the very same thing, Terry S!

Our last trip to BCV (SSR check in didn't do this) they wouldn't let my husband check in - I had to do it, since I had made the reservation. Ok, we went along with that. We tried to add his name to the reservation while at the front desk -
no...they weren't interested in doing that. It became very confusing - I'm not explaining it very well - definitely loses something in the translation.
Now some of what the CM said is beginning to make sense. I still can't understand why they didn't want my husband's name, though. They didn't take the names of our children (19 and 14 yr. olds) either.

Honestly this is the only place I have seen this getting an adverse reaction. The guests that have been checking in at the hotel think it's great. There have been a lot of "Oh look honey I don't have to be you anymore" and "wow son look it has your name on it."
LibertyBelle, I think this is a great idea. I know that my husband will appreciate this - poor man, he never did like having a card with my name on it. :cutie:

I wasn't asked anything except number of adults in each room when I made reservations for two studios this morning. However, I was asked again for last 4 digits of SS#, verify address, verify home phone number even though I answered the same questions on Friday!

I think that the CM's verify your identity each time you contact them now.
I don't mind verfiying who I am, but the CM taking my reservation said that some who call in do mind giving out all the ID info. Lots of numbers to remember off the top of my head!
In fact...the last reservation I made, the CM actually thanked me for being so nice about providing my ID info - and as we went into some different computer screens I had to give her my cc # again, since the system doesn't allow them to copy a cc number to another screen.

I don't think that this is the reason. We were at VWL 2 weeks ago and when we went to MK for EMH, we were informed that there was a separate charge of $12 to attend EMH ... even though we had our room keys and PAPs. We were extremely upset. If fact, my DW was so mad that she told the CM (quite loudly), "Shame on Disney and Shame on you, Michael Eisner for attempting to get every penny you can!" We then went back to our room and watched TV. (Heck, we could have done that at home ... Oh wait, we were "home")
Disney must think that DVC members are rich. Unfortunately, we only "ate out" twice during our combined VWL/VB vacation of 2 1/2 weeks due to finances. I'd guess that part of the "magic" is that, as DVC members for over 10 years, we can get away with that!

MDonley,

You were going to be CHARGED $ 12.00 for EMH at MK. I take it from your post that you were a guest on property and PAP's for park entrance.

In all the postings and Disneys coorespondance, there has never been any mention of them charging for the evening EMH. Is this something new or non informed CM :confused3 who was used to the old way when you had to pay for evening EMH in the parks.

I hope you went and verified that information before leaving the park.

If this is a turn around on Disney's part we all need to be warned.

Thanks for the info, We'll be going down in April and will definitely check this new info out before we leave as we are big users of EMH in the morning and evenings.

We enjoyed EMH at MK last week. There were wristband stations set up in multiple locations throughout the park and in the turnstyle areas and all we needed to do was show our room id to get them. There was no additional charge. The park closed at 7pm and EMH ran from 7-10 pm.

Thanks DOC for the fast reply.

Definitely sounds like a CM not knowing the system or MDonley's family went to the wrong location to get their wrist bands and CM there also didn't know the system. I know in the previous system, you had to purchase a voucher before hand at your resort hotel and turn that in in the Park to get the wrist band.

In all the docs so far they list the locations where the wrist bands will be given out and that everyone needs Resort ID and proper park passes.

I agree.....the $12 sounds like the admission price for the old E-Nights. Those usually lasted about 3 hours after park closing in the MK. Sounds like the CM that talked to MDonley got EMH and E-Night mixed-up ?

Sounds like a CM who was confusing the new EMH with the old E-Ticket Nights.

They ask for the names at the front desk when you check in, everyone gets a key even a 6 year old. You do not have to give the names over the phone unless you tell many are in your party. I rented a two bedroom and told the MS I had 4 people, when I arrived I had 6 she took all the names then.
