new rate system for 2008 ?

I agree that the OP should not have been titled " new rate system for 2008 confirmed." But, I also think she's entitled to her opinion about pricing. At the same time, it seems you're taking offense that she may stay off-site!

I have never stayed on-site and only will when we'll be forced to do so for our wedding package next year. I consider my fiance and I to be "regular Americans" we both work full-time (plus I work another part-time job), we make decent money, own property and homes, and I still think Disney is very expensive...all the way around! I love it, and I'll continue to come back, but I won't stay on-site except for next year! So, I'm always relieved to hear when others voice their opinion about the costs getting out of hand! I don't feel so bad!

Just because a poster has 600+ points doesn't make them an authority. Give some of us with fewer posts credit for having some intelligence to realize that you can't take any or all of the info on this board as the God's truth!

I just don't feel the all caps reply to the OP was at all necessary!!!

The "all caps" might not hav been necessary for you, but the OP finally read what I had to say, so it was appropriate.

You are correct that each person is entitled to their opinions. The OP stated that the price for a january stay in a BCV 2BR was going to be $1105. That sounded more like a statement than opinion. So myself and other posters tried to let her know that will not be the price once 2008 rates come out.

If the OP or yourself or anyone else wants to voice their opinion about rates getting out of hand, then fine. Just wait until the actual rates come out before you do that.

As for staying off-site: I don't care where anyone stays. I don't have an opinion of you or anyone based on where they stay. The OP said they would have to look into staying off-site due to the $1105 price tag per night. I genuinely was trying to warn the OP that the information she recieved was incomplete and faulty. The OP was making a decision based on bad info.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

I will admit that when I first read the thread my initial reaction was, "Thank the Lord we didn't buy DVC if the cash rates are going to almost double." Fortunately, I finished the entire thread and found that most likely isn't true.

While the "tone" may have been questionable, I do understand wanting to straighten the facts out. If one were to only read a portion of it, they would have incorrect information on disney's pricing.

I do understand the OP not wanting to commit to anything until the prices have been set.

FYI-We have booked POR in Feb. '08. When I booked it, I was quoted the rate according to the season this year-i.e. because my date was during value season this year, I was quoted (and paid one night's deposit) for rack rate for the room as if would have in 2007. I paid $145.00 plus tax. They did tell me that if the rate goes up (as I expect it will) I will be responsible for the difference at check in.

I post this just to point out that they did not quote me the highest rate of the year (i.e. holiday season) and make me deposit that amount of money.

I too was charged a value rate for 1/1/08-1/7/08. I am switching resorts just so I could get a value rate. This was before they changed that you would be charged per season. If I would have booked straight through with one resort it would have been the Holiday rate. I didn't even think of that, if the op is booking at the end of January, that should be well into the value season as we know it.

Keep in mind that the OP was also dealing with the DVC Member Services CMs. As they don't book cash rooms on a routine basis, they probably don't have a lot of the detail provided here.

(I still don't really understand the point of the posts. I don't think it's news to anyone that Disney prices are high!)

All caps used in anything written online is simply not good etiquette unless you truly hope that people understand you are "shouting" at someone...regardless of the message or your intentions...
