New purchase..Guide said to wait!?

P.S. If anyone else is on the fence about BLT and hasn't set foot in a model, find a way to do so. I was awestruck.

So was I! I had zero interest in BLT until a friend and I went to look at the models last week. We only went because she was interested in Kidani, but both of us were blown away by BLT. I'm going to buy just enough points to spend a night or two there every year & do a split stay with my preferred home, BCV.

How would I go about holding off on signing the contract until after the 15th if I plan to pay cash via Disney Visa? My guide is on safari in Africa (the real one) and won't be back until 6/8. I was planning to call her when she gets back and place my order. Is there another way to go about it? I thought that when I purchased direct before, they just charged my credit card immediately and I got my points, but I could be mis-remembering it.

Based on some of the outdated info on the official DVC site I sometimes think that myself... :rotfl:

But yeah, 'tis true. I'd post a link, but my post count is still below 10. I can't be the only person on these boards who got the e-mail though so maybe someone else can post the link. Else I can go spam replies on various threads and come back here and post it ;)

I can't believe I would ever say this: Unfortunately I will be at Walt Disney World during those dates, so count me out. I'm sure I will get over it.

If you start the process, it takes about a week to get you the papers. Once you get them, you have 10 days to sign, which puts you beyond the incentives date.

When I called, I put a small amount down on the Visa, got the add on points that night, and then didn't pay the final amount until almost a month later since I changed my contract several times.

Good luck!

Our guide told us that there would be incentives announced for AKV mid June. Who knows. Likely it will be the best deal in the Universe, whatever it is, seeing that we're already done with our contract.

This sounds intriguing as we are kicking around the idea of doing a 100 pt AKV addon in late June/early July. We don't have much interest in the current offer of a free cruise. Though the cash discount as of right now is good, wonder what the new incentive will be?

I signed up for the webcast on 6/13 just to see what that's all about.

Excellent, thanks!

We are in the process of buying BLT right now. You had to give them the DP to get the paperwork. It took about 10 days to get the initial paperwork. Then we decided to increase our points. We had to give them the balance of the DP before they would redraw the paperwork, which is now being sent to us. I asked our Guide about the incentatives changing and he said that if we had not signed the paperwork yet and the incentatives are better than what we are under contract for now, we could opt to go with the new incentative. Since we have the contract in hand for the current incentative we are guaranteed that incentative if the new incentatives are less attractive.

Please pardon my ignorance, but what is DVD?

DVD is Disney Vacation Development, the company (a subsidiary of Disney) that operates DVC. I'm guessing there's some legalese reason for all the different names, but that's beyond my understanding.

I spoke to my guide today and he was completely unaware of this email. He also assured me that if the incentives are better he would re-write the contract. I wasn't planning on buying until late next week anyways, so it all works out. I can find out if they incentives get better or not.

We spoke with a guide today who informed us to wait until the webcast the incentives would be better. I have signed up for the June 10th one so we will see.

Newbie here - how do you sign-up for webcast? My DH and I are thinking about becoming DVC members.

You have to receive the email. I did receive one and it says that we can forward them to friends so if I had an email address, I could send it along.

I just talked to my guide since I am planning to add on more points at BLT. I am going to start the process next week as planned, and then he said if the incentives seem better (he said he doesn't know what they are but that if you are not registered for the webcast, you are not eligible), then we will just re-do my contracts!!

UPDATE: My guided just called me back to tell me that the webcast will be geared toward new purchases so for add ons, unless they are going to be 160 or more, like a new contract, there will most likely be nothing better than what is currently being offered for the smaller ones.

Good luck!!!

I got the webcast email as well and just received the paperwork for my BLT add on. Since I am not planning on financing it, I had my guide put it on my Disney Visa credit card. I noticed today that the deposit and they balance are both on my credit card. Do you still think I can wait for the webcast to see it the incentives are better??

Yes!! Until you sign the contracts, send them back, and then the contract closes, changes can be made.

Since the first webcast is on June 10th, you should have time to hold on to the paperwork (I might call my guide and tell him this is what I am going to do) and then wait until then.

When I added on in March, I had already signed and sent back when the April 1st incentives came out. I called my guide and he pulled them two days before it was scheduled to close. I re-did everything and ended up getting my 130 points at $96.00 per point!!!

In the fine print I notice it said ' current price for 160 point Master contract is $17920 and certain limitations may apply ' - that would equal $112 per point.....It will be interesting to see what incentives this webcast will offer :surfweb: sounds like guides don't know for sure yet & ( no surprise there :rotfl:) Hopefully it will be worthwhile for us member's looking to do add-on too.

Best wishes :)

My guess is that they will offer new members watching the webcast the same price that members with a referral have bringing it to $96/point. I don't expect anything more. I went ahead and added on yesterday but I will hold off sending back the paperwork until after the webcast (just to make sure).

Thanks used your link and just registered!:yay:

I called our guide as we just have just decided to purchase at BLT. She had no clue about it but say go ahead and watch it and if the incentives are better than what is out there now that we would get it.

I could say "Lucky You" since you'll be saving money, but you'll be at WDW spending money. Then you'll probably add on anyways. LOL

Double Whammy
