Hi everyone! I'm asking this for a friend of mine who's never been to WDW. She's interested in learning more about this new promo code to stay 4 nights and get 3 free.

The thing is she has a family of 5 and it seems the packages are geared towards families of 4. I'm not much more familiar with booking WDW resorts and packages then she is, but I figured someone on here would have some advice to share.

Has anyone booked this new promo for a family of 5? Do they have resorts or rooms that will work for a larger family? Is it much more expensive? :confused3 Any tips or hints on booking for a larger family without breaking the bank?

I'm so embarrassingly clueless. Any advice I can pass along to her is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time! :) :flower3:

Room prices don't change by the number of people in them (unless more than 2 adults--for hotel rooms ages 11-17 are juniors). Disney has a few options for families of 5+. There are the family suites, deluxes (except AKL and WL), the Fort Wilderness Cabins and Deluxe Villas. You may also book two rooms at a value, a moderate or AKL/WL.

The ticket price will change because you'll have one more ticket. Still get 7 for the price of 4, if that is the option your friend wants.

We're a family of 5 booked under this deal (for now; hoping for a better AP or GP room only rate later) at the Poly.

When Disney gives out the details of packages they gear it for the "norm" which for marketing purposes is a family of 4. They will book packages for larger families but the room options dwindle with the more people you have.

For a family of 5 the options are:
Family Suite at All Star Music
2 Standard Rooms at a value resort
Port Orleans Riverside Alligator Bayou section
Villa's at a DVC resort
Deluxe hotels can handle 5 people depending on room set up.

Your friend would want to call and discuss with CRO what their travel party consists of and what their options are. CRO can then price out what would work for them and they can decide if it is doable.

The only moderate resort that can accommodate 5 in one room is Port Orleans Riverside. It has a pullout bed.

There are also the Cabins at Fort Wilderness, which sleep 6.

Otherwise, it's Deluxe hotels. The following take 5 in a room:

Beach Club
Boardwalk
Contemporary
Grand Floridian
Polynesian
Yacht Club

And then you get to the villas, which can accommodate up to 8.

I believe there is also family suites at All Star Music, which would work. Those are hard to book, though, because they go fast.

We're a family of 5 and are staying at POR in June- 7nights, 7 day base tickets, and dining plan for a little over $2600.

Thank you so much for the fast replies! :) I'm going to email her a link to this thread so she can keep up with the responses and decide what she's going to do. So if anyone else has any helpful hints for her, please post them. I'm sure she'll take all the advice she can get. LOL Thanks again!! :thumbsup2

I will say that we are a family of five and have stayed at AKL, Poly, CR, OKW and I would find it hard to stay in a moderate...mainly due to size...CR and Poly have some of the biggest rooms and I love the proximity to MK (if your kids are under 10, you'll enjoy this part more than the others)...if you have all teens I'd go for Beach Club or Yacht club because Stormalong bay is the hit there...we just booked room and tickets without dining for $3100...with basic dining it would be around $4100...the beds in the moderates I believe are full size....they are larger queens and the fifth bed is a daybed not a trundle that slide from under your bed and makes the room even tighter....

With a family of five, would it be possible for them to make two seperate ressie, (two rooms) one with the mothers name and one with the fathers name and get two $200 gift cards? Or would this be possible and profitable? Just wondering.

I have the same question........I have a ressie already through Disney(online) for POR which is 1805 for our family of 5 for 7 days. I just priced out staying at POP, which we never have and would love to try another resort......it is only $70 more for two rooms..........can I do this and get 2-$200 gift cards, which means I would not actually be out any $$ and have extra space?? Also, if I can, what is the best way to do this-I assume I have to call Disney, right? No experience in switching ressies:)

We are a family of 5 dh, me, ds12, dd9 and dd4. We booked the new promo 7 nights at the Contemporary MYW with park hopper and disney dining 3800.00 It comes out the same as POR before the promo and we get more space. We have always wanted to stay at the Contemporary. Good luck!

we are a family of six (our kids are 1/3/6/9) and we are staying at the GF. If we were going to do a cheaper hotel, we liked the Port Orleans Riverside.
Gl to your friend!

It's possible, but if you link the rooms, it's considered one reservation with one gift card. Still 3 free with 4, but only one gift card. If you do not link the rooms, you'll get 2 gift cards, but can wind up in two different, far away, places. No big deal if it were two families (parents & grandparents), but a problem if you have kids.

If you do this you need to (well, supposed to) cancel your first reservation, otherwise they will know it is one reservation and one gift card. Then rebook twice. However, you might get a CM that will change this to two reservations without fully cancelling the first. Just cancel one room and rebook a second room. You'll have two different confirmation numbers. It's also two different deposits. Not sure when you link rooms do to family size if it is two different deposits or only one. All changes do need to be done via phone; no way to do them online unfortunately.
