New Promo coming....I think

What exactly is the bounceback dates?? Can someone explain it to me?????

Does anyone know if the bounce back free dining dates offered previously (last year for 2007) were the same dates that were offered in the spring to Disney Visa and the public? I'm just wondering because we are planning a trip for next August and we were hoping to catch the last week of the free dining offer which was the week before Labor Day this year. I can't come any later because my college age son starts school the day after Labor Day- unless we go without him like we did in 2005 (he still hasn't forgiven us for that). :sad2:

No the dates were different. I got burned on this theory already. Last year the BBP dates started August 5th, so I thought, wow, when the Visa offer comes out in April I'll book it then (was going to fly down to book, but didn't). So I choose Aug. 15-19, and bought plane tickets....big mistake. The free ddp was offered, but you had to check in by Aug. 26th. So I ended up having to get a room elsewhere. Not only that, they had that great 40% pin code floating around and it was assigned to my name, nope, couldn't use that either as you had to check in by Aug. 22. I choose my vacation according to the wonderful weeks of disney and the description that these weeks were when some of the best offers and lowest rates were available. Obviously that was not true. So be careful if you do the same as I had planned and have a back up plan. I would love to do the free ddp again, but I promised my 13 year old grandson I would not pull him out of school again as we had many, many times in the past. I have my fingers crossed that the bbp will be offered in December for different dates (August 2008...I hope).

UK (offered summer) was for checkins starting 8/12
bounceback (offered Nov/Dec) was for checkins 8/5-9/29
VISA/general public (offered Apr-Jun) was for checkins 8/26-9/22

So between Dec and Apr, they shaved off 3 weeks from the beginning and 1 week from the end, probably because they had the most bookings for those weeks.

I'm hoping so, too. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that they have a bounceback free DDP offer during free DDP this year, as those are the people most likely to want to book early (though my heart breaks for those free diners who left before this offer began). But I was really hoping to get in on an early August bounceback to avoid my kids having to miss so much school again next year.

I would expect the winter bounceback (if there is one) and spring general public offer (if there is one) to have slightly different dates, and I wouldn't rule out the possibility of dates earlier in August. But I'm still booking for September, just in case this is the only offer. We can spend the next few months obsessing over whether we can make it work for us or not. If I didn't have something Disney to obsess over, what would I do all day?

Has anyone tried to book the bounceback beyond the days? Have they made it only between those days or does your stay have to start between those days? Just trying to plan when to book it for when we get there:rotfl:.

Thanks, I don't think we can count on free dining for the week before Labor Day. Since that seems to be the only week my family can go, I'm not sure what we are going to plan. We are on a tight budget and really should not be going at all (but I told my son we would try to celebrate his graduation). We may have to stay off property in a condo or house if the free dining dates don't work out for our dates (so we can save money on food).

Yeah, I am with you. We can only go the week before Labor Day too- I don't want to pull my kids out of school, and can really only do late August because I don't want high crowds. It sucks that we are going to be missing the promo by a week! But to wait till August 30 either means a two day trip or the kids miss a week of school in the first month of school. That doesn't seem fair to them either.

Either way, my youngest son is going to miss a week of high school- his school will probably start August 19-20. I don't know what we will do, but my other son can't miss a week of college classes.:teacher:

My two friends and I are headed to see ºoº in 13 days. I was VERY happy to see information about this promotion (and that the timing works perfectly with our travel dates). I don't know if they are interested in a repeat trip next year (can you imagine not wanting to go back ?!?!?!), but if not, I'm pretty sure that I will go a head and make a reservation. I'm sure I could find SOMEONE :) to go .

I was just there August 21st -28th and luckily I am going back this Thursday (Sept. 6-11th) and am so excited to see this! I will definatly book for next year. DH said I could go without him next year so I will have to decide if I am pulling DD out of school (11th grade:eek: which will be harder than it was in elementary) or I will just go solo....I would have no problem with a solo trip!!:thumbsup2 I'm still going to make the ressie for all of us and then change it if I need to. DH can't get his head around planning another trip already but by next September he will probably be ready!:lmao: Yahoo!

I checked out of french quarter today and heard nothing about the bounce back promotion. If I had we would have booked. At this point I doubt there is anything I can do.

I am here now and haven't seen anything on paper but it is on the resort television station - dial 8844 from the rooms to get the deal.

You are right though - since you have checked out I doubt there is anything you can do - I am debating if I want to book something on the off chance I can use it.

OMG I am going to DIEEEEEEEEEEE of ecstasy!!!!!!! It better be for everyone, not just a bounceback offer!!!!!!! Those are my dates, omg, omg, omg!!!!!!!!!

Yeah! I agree! I want the free DDP! We are going that time frame too!

We just got back from Pop with the free dining plan. We're booked again next year for free dining :cool1: We're staying at Pop again Sept 27th through Oct 5th, with 1 day base tickets and the regular (free) dining package.

Call CRO (800-828-0228, according to another thread) anyway--at least one person on another thread didn't understand the "call before checkout" rule and called from the ME bus. S/he had to speak to a supervisor, but s/he was able to book it. But do it today! Here's the link to that thread--it's post #8 where the situation is described. Good luck!

This would be wonderful! I kind of thought this would be the last year of free dining. Of course this would mean I would risk being thought of as an irresponsible parent for taking my child out of school!

Heh. I'm sure I'd be doubly as irresponsible then, I'm taking my *twins* out of kindergarten for a birthday trip! (And I've taken them out for atleast a week every year since they were in their first year of nursery school - age 2 for WDW, age 3 for a California/BC/Alaska cruise, and age 4 for a cruise to C. & S. America for Xmas. Frankly, at those ages, they 'learned' more by travelling than by being in the classroom, especially on the Xmas cruise when their retired-kindergarten-teacher Grandmother did a travel journal and reading/writing workbook with them daily!)

I may just be compensating, though, for my own childhood -- we did travel a fair bit, but never during school. Both my parents were teachers, so even if they could have brought themselves to pull us out, they wouldn't have been able to get time off work to take us!

Luckily I married someone who likewise grew up going on family vacations, and whose parents (when they had the money) didn't mind taking him out of school if need be.

We often lament that our kids will either rebel against the family tradition and become complete homebodies as they age, or they're destined by genetics alone to be world travellers -- all of their surviving great-grandparents have travelled well into their 80s. In fact, the eldest is planning a trip to a Caribbean beach resort as an early celebration of her 100th birthday!

We are taking our DD out of kindergarten for a week in December. I've already spoken with her teacher and her teacher asked if she could come with us :) . I wanted to make sure she understood that if my DD was struggling in any way, we would cancel the trip. She told us everything was great and that we should go to Disney  :goodvibes .

IMHO....I think it all depends on the child. If you have a child who is struggling, then they may not need to be taken out of school. It's best to talk it over with the teacher.

I am SO hoping for free dining for the end of August, next year. As others have said here, with school starting the Wednesday after Labor Day, there is NO WAY my DD will let me take the DGDs out of school for a week. I have already promised to take them back again next year. Guess I will have to wait and pray that Disney will extend the free dining to that last week or 2 in August!!!!popcorn:: popcorn::

I'm with you-I'm hoping for the free dining the last week or so in August. I have a son who needs to return to college the day after Labor Day. I promised we would not go without him like we did for free dining September 2005. If we can't get the free dining or another fabulous offer for late August it looks like we will have to stay off property this time. :sad2:

The Pixie Dust I asked for several pages back worked! I explained to my husband that if we booked for next year we could get the free dining again, and also do it before our passes expire on 9/3/08. So we'd have 2 trips on the same tickets. He was hesitant until I told him we could cancel and get our deposit back if we couldn't go for some reason. He let me book! :) We're staying at CSR again. We couldn't justify almost doubling the price to stay at a monorail resort. I'll work on that... ;)
