New Poly Pool pics 3-5-16

But nothing you can enjoy sitting around really. The pools now close relatively early and won't it be locked up?

That is true, maybe the winter season when it's dark at 6.

Do we know if the shaded canopies will be available to anyone or if they will be rental/cabana like?

I'm excited to stay at Poly in October and check out both pools!

What time do they close?

The hours for the Oasis pool right now says it is open until 11 pm. The Lava pool closes at 8 pm during the colder months because that is when the lifeguards are off. During the warmer months the Lava pool is open until 11 pm. There are no life guards at the Oasis pool so its hours might not change all year.

The seating is first come first serve.

Thank you !!! So excited countdown is at 36 days.

I think someone mentioned that the Art of Animation one was salt. Its not like ocean water. Many pools now are salt.

I've honestly never heard of salt water pools except on cruise ships. Is this the same type of thing? If so, I'm extremely disappointed -- hate those salt water pools. One big positive for us on DCL was the non-salt pools.

NOOO - these are not ocean salt water pools! It's not that different from a chlorine pool (filters and the like) - but it uses salt. We find them quite pleasant actually and I wish I had one!

Yes, we are considering switching our pool over to a salt system. DH has some skin issues and he is thinking it might be better for him. We are staying at PVB this May, so looking forward to giving it a try.

That's interesting! I've never heard of that, other than the type you find on cruise ships. I'm open to trying it if it's not ocean-like. :teeth:

We have a salt water pool and basically it run salted water over an electrified plate that create chlorine. The benefits are it is not like harsh chemical chlorine. It is very nice on the skin and is very easy on the eyes....its like your tears really. They are much easier to maintain once set up and better for the environment. I think Disney did a great job on this pool....one thing though....i think there will be fights over those nice seating areas!...:):rotfl2:

Just back and got to enjoy some time at the new pool. My feelings were actually mixed.

The seating is absolutely fabulous! There's lots and it's very comfortable. The bar and grill are great features and the hot tub is very large. The landscaping is gorgeous and there seemed to be a generous number of umbrella's for those who prefer the shade.

I know this is a quiet pool... and I'm actually a fan... my favorite is at Congress Park. But I have to say, that despite it's large size the new pool is generally very shallow. Only one small part is 4", the rest is considerably less. I say that as someone who is only 5' tall... I'm guessing if I noticed this, then others will as well. Now, I can definitely see where this would make it much, much easier to supervise small children,,, the zero entry is nice. But I did find that a bit disappointing.

My take away was that it is a wonderful place to take a dip and cool off. Very comfortable to sit for extended periods of time and enjoy the sun, the hot tub and the bar/grill. But if you are looking for more than a place to paddle, this wouldn't be it. BTW, Congress Park, although much smaller, does seem to have more area that is 4"... I think that is what makes them different.

I also really appreciate having shade as an option too, so it was one of the first things I noticed :-)

I've been to the Poly twice since it became a DVC resort. Neither time were we able to use the pools.
Will hopefully be able to get it at the 7 month mark for Christmas and try those pools.

Thrilled to hear there is a shaded area near the pool - that has always been one of my pet peeves.
The only pool that had nicely shaded area was at Jambo house.

With little ones, I am excited about the shallow depth of the new pool :-) not to mention we are renting points with DVC so we are very excited to have this beautiful "Oasis" right next to us. 23 more days until we arrive!!

We also have a salt water pool. It's like "softenend water". Love it!
