I just booked my ressie's for my next trip - just a measly 324 days away, and I'm all ready thinking about food! On my last trip there I did try a few new places but I found myself eating at the same places. Does anyone here find that happening to them?

I need to break our of this restaurant rut and find new places! I'm think about eating at CRT or watching fireworks from one of the MK area resorts.

Our past few trips, we ate at all the same restraunts. This next trip we are doing a few of our favorites and trying some new ones too.

The new one's we are trying this time are Sci Fi Dine In, Donald's Breakfast, and Biergarten.

We don't go to other resort restraunts too often yet, because it is hard to drag DD's out of the parks to eat.;)

We did CRT for dinner a few years back, the food was good, but it was one of the more expensive meals we had. We haven't done the breakfast there yet.

Have fun planning your meals. I'm sure you can get many more opinions on where to eat. :wave2:

Donald's Breakfast? I haven't heard of this? Where is this at and how do I find out more? Is it a character type meal?

Biergarten - we ate there twice on the last trip - it was really good. Lots of good food there and good wine! If you like white wine, I recommend the Valckenberg Madonna wines.

I haven't eaten at any of the resort restaurants other then the one we stay at. I look forward to trying a few of those.

On my last trip to WDW in 04/01 I went with my DH and we ate at mostly sit down places since it was just us no kids. This time I am going with my kids and parents so we are doing more of a mix of sit downs and character meals. My parents haven't been to Disney in 22 years so everything will be new to them. We are doing Biergarten for my Dh even though he won't be there. I told him I will take pictures of the food and the waitresses so he feels like he was there.

Ever since I was a little girl and my parents were paying for the vacations, I have been eating around WDW. Since I got married, it's gotten worse. We plan on 2 big meals a day and we can barely walk by the end of the trip. My DH begs me to cut it down to one big meal and 1 small meal a day. We only go away every couple years (from now on, once a year) and so I get all of my dining out urges filled. So I've eaten almost everywhere several times each.

We are going in 2 weeks and I have a dilemma of cutting down my choices. IT'S SO HARD! This is what I do to help me decide so I don't keep going back to the same ones every time. I have a couple favorites like CG and YS, but I try to throw a few new ones in each time. Depending on where you are staying, try the resort restaurants. A lot of them are marvelous and you will be pleased you tried them. For example, when we stayed at the GF last time, we dined at V&A, Narcoosee's, the GFC and 1900. Then we took the monorail over to CG. We also dine at other resort restaurants depending where we are heading afterward. For example, we ate dinner at AP at the WL, then hopped a boat over to the MK for MVMCP, then hopped the monorail home to the GF. The moderate resorts have some really nice options as well.

In 2 wks we are staying at the BWV and so I am going to try the restaurants over there. I am thinking of bagging CG and still going to YS, CM Cafe, Beaches and Cream, and then some EPCOT restaurants since I am so close to there like the Biergarten or Marrakesh (haven't been to those for YEARS and now would be a good time) or MGM restaurants like The BD (we try to eat there every trip). Remember that, although most are kid friendly, some restaurants are more entertaining than others. WCC at the WL, Hoop de Doo, O'Hanna, and the character breakfasts and dinners are great options for kids. Go to the ones near or at your resort. You'll get about the same experience from all of them.

So depending on where you are staying and who will be joining you, your choices can be made made more easily. But do get out of the rut and try a few new ones. You'll be pleasantly surprised!!! Hope this helps. Now back to my restaurant choices for 2 wks from now. Ha Ha!

Ducky4Disney,

Donald's breakfast is at the Animal Kingdom in the Restaurantosaurus. It's a character breakfast buffet. The characters that are suppose to be there are Donald (of course), Mickey and Goofy. You can find the menu at www.allearsnet.com and look under dining.

We try to do at least one character meal, and have never done this one before, I have heard good things about it. We can't wait!

Ahh, the food -- don't be ashamed to admit you're planning your meals around the World already -- I usually start at least a year out!

It is hard to let go of the favorites. One way to visit a fave or even a new place (and perhaps not feel so full )is to dine at one for dessert or an appetizer. We're doing that on our next trip (we weren't sure about SAI, but atmosphere seems so cool, we think we might go in for appetizers and a margarita!) Same for ESPN -- we are staying at BWV, so thought it might be fun one night to take kids there to have dessert and soak up the sporty atmosphere, or maybe mid-day wings and such -- you get the idea.

If you write down all your faves, maybe grab three off that list. Then wirte down your "oooh, that sounds good" list and grab 3. Then make up the balance of your meals however you wish. That's sort of the plan of attack we will take. Plus, we will have guests with us -- gotta let them choose sometime too!

The decisions, the decisions... I'm hungry already just thinking about it!

Ducky, I've tried to eat as many places as possible at WDW, maybe I can help.

1 - What are your "usual" places? If we know where you've been and what we like, maybe we can find other things you'd also like.

2 - Are you travelling with kids, or is it just adults?

3 - Are the nicer, more expensive places of interest to you?

4 - Are you interested mostly in the food, or in "interesting experiences"? (For instance, the 50s Prime Time Cafe has good but fairly ordinary food, but it's one fun place to eat. On the other hand, the Yachtsman Steakhouse is a terrific dining event, but it's not unique to Disney, particularly.)

Three places that I'll always recommend, for starters -

1 - Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge (a bit on the pricey side)
2 - Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge
3 - 'Ohana at the Polynesian

I recommend these because the food is terrific, and the resorts they're in are stunning. The last two are all you can eat - go on an empty stomach, and you won't regret it.

Unfortunately none of these three serve lunch. Given my choice, I try to make lunch my main meal of the day - it's less expensive, and it's a good way to break up the day.

I'll be glad to offer some lunch suggestions as well. (And next month I'm trying a few new places, maybe they can be added to my lists.)

I will BE there in 12 days, and I am planning on eating at a LOT of NEW places, like Calif. Grill and Kona Cafe to start off.;) Check Deb Wills sight, as she has the Menu's you could look up at some of the resteraunts.:o

We tend to re-visit our old favorites, too (Kona Cafe, Boma, Olivia's). In November we tried Wolfgang Puck's downstairs for lunch, in the West End. They served GREAT breads (more like a crunchy cracker) before the meal and we loved the sandwiches.

I know how you feel..not wanting to waste a "sure thing" on the off chance of a so-so meal.
But in thinking back, all of our favorite restaurants were once "new" to us. So every time there is a new table service restaurant atWDW, we usually wind up trying it!!
