New Pixar Movie

Someone asked me if I knew about the new Toy Story movie. Am I just behind the times? I told her I would post on this board and ask. So, is there going to be a Toy Story 3 ?

Next up for Pixar is Ratatouille due out in June I believe, Many people speculate that Toy Story 3 will come out in 2008 but I won't believe it untill it comes from John Lasseters mouth

Before Eisner's departure, Disney announced that they would be making Toy Story 3, since they owned the characters under the agreement with Pixar for the first movie. Since Iger took over and Disney and Pixar merged, John Lasseter pulled the plug on Toy Story 3 so that the Pixar folks can have a hand in the story for it. No new production date has yet been announced, but as popular as the characters still are, I would expect TS3 to be made eventually.

Supposedly there is a TS3 in the works, as well as possibly Monsters Inc, 2.

I think since "Cars" "underperformed" they have decided to lay it safe and do at least one or 2 surefires.

Toy Story 3 was in production by "Disney Circle 7 Animation" which was basically set up to make Pixar sequels and other DTV CGI. Lassetter shut them down, and took Toy Story 3 out of production, but then put it back in. According to what I've read, they have a set ending for the TS characters, which will wrap up their stories and leave them in a good place, and the TS3 movie allegedly is going to be more centered on Jesse.

Pixar will be announcing their upcoming movie slate some time before Spring. They do have a film scheduled for release in the Summer of 2008, but they've only released the code-word "Wall-E" as the title.

Pixar is, obvisouly, going through a lot of changes at the moment. Few are happy with the buyout from Disney becuase of the concern about keeping their independence from "The Disney Formula" (and becuase Disney Feature Animation releases really bad movies).

Toy Story 3 was in production as a "I spit in your face" move by Michael Eisner. By all accounts the story was horrible - designed to sell Happy Meals and to set up a Jesse-based television series to sell even more stuff to little girls. John Lasseter holds these characters closest of all and was naturally horrified. He managed to get the movie cancelled and the shell production company closed down. There are rumors that he's been working on a new story - and it might be announced in the next couple months.
