New pirate makeover experience!

I am curious to find out which package it seems most people are getting. We are coming to WDW this Christmas and have 3 boys. It will get very pricey to do the full package with all of them, but if it seems that most of the children are getting the full package we don't want them to feel left out!!!

Thanks!

I got a pirate costume from Party City for $20 with a coupon to take with us for the makeover. Plus I told my DD that it will be her Halloween costume this year. I did the same thing when she did the princess makeover because I don't really want to spend $50+ on a costume seeing as we don't have a younger kid to pass it on to.

Are most of the girls choosing the Empress (girly bold makeup)? My DD8 is not much into the girly girl make up as such and wants to do this with her brother(10). I have them both booked for Sept 13th and I am just wondering how it is going to work outpirate:.

My daughter really really wanted the boney skeleton (but then, to surprise me got the empress done- she's a tomboy and wanted to shock mommy!). I would imagine, particularly closer to halloween, there will be more girls with the "boy" looks.

I think the question would be if she gets the dress option and a character makeup, is that possible and it does it impact the prices? We have two resident pirates here who I know can answer that one for you.

My DD wants to get the skeleton pirate look. She thinks the empress makeup is too similar to the "regular make up" she'll get at BBB earlier in the week.

I was recently in TPL and had an awsome experience, and Im almost certain Brenna wasthe cm who did my makeup. Now me and the firend that went with me are 19 and 20 so we didnt know what to expect for our someone our age doing it but it was worth every penny. here's me at our room in CBR shortly after the makeover

We had a girl about 14 get the Multi-eye Jack just this morning... beard any everything! And any of the looks we can leave the beard off for the ladies. We see a lot of girls leaving with the Black-eye/scar combo as well. And of course we had a little one get the pink pirate maiden dress with the cursed look a few weeks ago and it was amazing!

Here's a stupid question: If my younger ds freaks out in the chair and decided he doesn't want to do this after all, is there any chance they wouldn't charge us for his makeover?

No, we won't charge you... we don't want to punish the kids who are too nervous to participate. But we also have a few tricks up our sleeves for helping out the nervous pirates. And if it would help your son, he can sit on your lap while he's getting his transformation.

Our DGD (age 7) has an appointment for the empress package on 10/18 prior to MNNSHP. We would like to buy her the wench costume before that day. Are they readily available or can we purchase it online or by calling the store?

How does the makeup hold up through the day and through meals? We are doing the pirate and pals cruise on 10/9 and think this would be a perfect easy for pirate makeover. However the best time for us to get this done would be before 2pm, leaving several hours plus dinner before the cruise.

Do you pay in advance or take a cc for a guarantee? What is the cancellation policy? do we book a specific look, or can we change our mind once we get there?

I'm thrilled to have found this thread! I really didn't knew much about this whole experience-I found reference to it in another thread and I searched the boards-and Voila-I found this great source of info-

We had booked the Pirates and Pals Wishes Cruise for our trip in mid August and now I just booked the Pirates League for later in the afternoon before dinner and the cruise-very excited-My son and daughter are both going to do it....

Can't wait

I believe the dress is only available in the Magic Kingdom, I have not seen it on-line. It is available at the Pirates Bazaar and at the League.

It holds up very well, it is professional theatre makeup designed to handle hot lights (sun). Of course if the person gets sweaty easily or there is a sudden down pour this might affect the quality.

You do give a CC when making the reservation, but you do not pay until the end. If you do not show up $10 will be charged to your CC, I believe you have to cancel before 24 hours of the appointment. They will ask you what you want when making the appointment, but we do not really look at those requests, we will ask you everything again when you arrive.

Is there a number I can call for the Pirate's Bazaar or the League to order it? Or am I worrying for nothing, i.e. will there be plenty available on Oct. 18th?

So excited....I just made an appointment for our next trip for the kids. We are going before MNNSHP...I'm assuming that nobody else will be dressed as a pirate, right? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

About a week and a half ago, my DD (3) did the Empress package with pirate wench costume. We followed that up with dinner at Chef Mickey's and then the Pirate and Pals cruise. It was a wonderfule evening. The make-up held up well, though she took the jewel sticker thing off asap, lol. The costume did have sort of 3/4 sleeves with lace cuffs, I believe. The material was lightweight. It wasn't a problem for her to wear in the evening, especially out on the lagoon for the cruise. I would not want to wear it around all day though.

I booked for my son's birthday. The only time I could get was 10am. I am starting to re-think this. I am trying to decide if it is going to be worth it to miss precious MK touring time for this.

Any suggestions?

I haven't done the pirate makeover, bu we did do BB last March and to me it was worth every second of it for the joy it gave my DD.

DS only wore his costume about 45 minutes last week. The makeup did get rubbed off slightly but I tried to remind DS not to rub his face. (The one time my son actually tried to use his napkin!)
All in all, it was worth the money for the experience alone. I even got to dance with one of the castmembers while my son was being made over. (DD wouldn't dance so I did it to show her that it is all in fun and games)
We did see Breanna there too.
