I just saw this on the Disneyland site. I know my DH and our little pirates will love these - Hopefully they'll still have them in September!

Starting July 2nd, Disney Pirate entertainment includes:
Captain Jack Sparrow — Everybody's favorite pirate finally gets the fame and recognition he craves during his own meet and greets!
The Bilge Rats — A band of cursed pirates recently escaped from the attraction sing songs, tell stories and raise their battle cry of freedom!
The Bootstrappers — This rag-tag pirate musical act performs authentic sea chanteys and even some Disney tunes!
The Sailing Ship Columbia — A daily commandeering of the Sailing Ship Columbia by a lone and crafty buccaneer!

That is cool! I didn't see any of that when we were there this past week. Wonder when it all starts?

I'm going to be at DL July 16th and I want a picture with Captain Jack Sparrow! This is so cool. Thanks for sharing. :cool1:

Totally off topic.
Funhouse8, Have fun at DL on my birthday!! Wish I could go then!!! :teleport:
Almost forgot to wish you a fun trip!! :tinker:

I read this info too, sounds like its going to be great fun! Ive noticed it has said "daily" commandeering of the Columbia. I wonder if that means its going to happen only one time a day or each time the ship sails? Anyone have the answer? pirate:

Thanks gnbuggy, I'm going to be here with my DB who also is born on the 16th. We have the Lilo & Stich breakfast that day. I'll think of you when we sing to him. He will be turning 42. I bought him a birthday cake hat. LOL I can't wait! :cool1:

Has anyone sailed on the Columbia since they piratized it? The official press release states:

The Sailing Ship Columbia – and its Guests – isn’t safe from a pirate’s siege either. Guests aboard the ship will be surprised when a scheming and wily pirate, in search of loot, overtakes the ship each time she sets sail. On this voyage, Guests will find out about the ins-and-outs of a pirate’s life, learn the secret pirates oath and how to live by their moral code.

I'd love to know how long they're going to run this (my next trip to Disneyland Resort will be in September), and how you enjoyed it.

Apparently it has already started. The Bilge Rats and Bootstrappers are reportedly pretty funny as they take some classic Disney songs and add "pirate lyrics". If anyone gets to hear them please report back. I am most interested in what times they perform so I can plan to be there.

I'm not sure which group they are, but there is a group of Pirate entertainers on a stage just outside Cafe Orleans. They are really good with the crowds...we really enjoyed their improv. Very talented. They seemed to be performing almost continuously, rotating pirates on and off stage. We were there during lunch if that helps.

Cheers.

It was all going when we were there on JUly 1. The Columbia was "taken" on each ride because we heard the spiel twice while we were eating.

"The Bilge Rats and The Bootstrappers". They are still there as of last week and worth a stop to listen to. We did for 10-15 minutes. They are listed on the DL Times Guide. Last week they were listed as 10AM-2:30PM and 2PM-5:30PM.
