Some info slipped out early about the new round of Pentax rebates. They'll start this Thursday.
The bad news is that the K100D no longer qualifies. The good news is that the camera rebates are $100 right off the bat, for the K100D Super and the K10D.
For those skimming this for the "real info": going by today's prices at Beach Camera, that means:
K100D Super for $439 after rebate
K10D for $629.29 after rebate
The bad news is that you need to buy a "kit" - no rebates on body-only purchases. More bad news, smaller rebates on the high-end flash, and the only lenses with rebates are the Limited series, or the 50-200mm when bought at the same time as a camera.
Thank goodness I bought my 10-17mm (with $100 rebate) when I did! Phew! And there's still a $100 rebate on the 31mm F1.8, which will hopefully be my next lens... if I can dig deep enough! My old *ist DL is still kicking around, I better toss that on eBay pretty soon and see what I can get for it. (Anyone here interested?)
Anyway, not quite as good as the K100D was there at the end (just under $400 for the kit) but it'll probably drop down there before this rebate ends on 1/31/08. And $630 after rebate for the K10D is fantastic, it's way ahead of anything else available for that price. This bodes well for the affordability of the upcoming higher-end body that they're promising will be majorly impressive... (lots of "official" hints coming out in the past week or two.)
