That's pretty awesome! I agree that it seems like it should be integrated into MDX, but then again it's often spotty in the parks, and I don't really want to waste away while waiting for the app to process my order

Makes a lot of sense and a little similar to how BOG lunch works. I wonder how this will affect the problem during busy times of people parking themselves at a table before they ever get (or order) their food, while someone else wanders about with a full tray, unable to find an open seat.

It will NOT work with the meal plan. If you notice in the video when he is showing you how to order, it clearly states that it does not work with the meal plan. That however does not mean that it won't in the future.

Unfortunately credit/debit card is currently the ONLY way to pay.

This would be SOOOO helpful for me! I have balance issues, so use a mobility service dog, which makes carrying a tray with food on it very hard to impossible (depending on what is on the tray) to carry with one hand. I hope they do implement it in all CS locations!

We go to a restaurant where you order at the counter and then seat yourselves wherever you want and when your food is ready, they bring it to you. What they do is give you a number on your receipt and call that number out when they have a tray to deliver. If Disney can't get the technology seating part working, maybe they can do something like that.

The Panera by me is changing over to this kind of system. They have numbers on the tables now ... So if you want you can just sit down, go to the site, enter your table number and your order...

I didnt watch the video, so don't know if this was mentioned, but they're also testing this at fantasmic. Going to try it when I'm there on Sunday!

I hope they extend this after the test period- We would definitely use it at Fantasmic. The lines at counter service are always long and then trying to get back to our seats- this would be great!

We did something similar at Be Our Guest - I preordered the food when I got the fastpass. However when we got to the restaurant, they couldn't find our food order so we had to go through the line anyway. And I think that screwed things up because they never found us to bring the food. After nearly an hour I went searching for our food and had to track someone down. I'm not sure I like this direction that counter service places are taking. It sounded great at first, and a time saver. But in our experience it was a headache.

Now this is a little different than BOG was in that it seems like you have to be sitting in the restaurant area when you order, so hopefully the order won't get lost as easily.

The way that is currently being tested you can only order once you are at the QS location and as long as you don't run to a different seating area after you order it'd be tough for them not be close enough for you to at least find them. They may change this down the road, but I think if they start preordering there will be a lot of situations like the one you went through.

There is a local burger joint in town that after you order, they give you a little GPS type of device. It kind of looks like the device you get when waiting for a table and they call you back. But this device tells the server where you are seated. So you place your order at the counter, go find a seat somewhere, and then they bring you your food after checking the gps to find witch table you are out. Sounds like something that may work Disney for these types of counter service restaurants.

We just tried this in Backlot Express today. It was great! We sat down, ordered on the app, and the food was brought to our table in less than 5 minutes. No problems whatsoever. A manager walked over with the food runner and talked to us about the experience. We were also given a website for a survey, which I completed when we were done eating. We didn't try to customize any food but the survey indicated that it was possible. We loved not having to wait in line, then hunt for a table with a tray full of food! Didn't try it for Fantasmic yet but plan to soon. I hope they keep this option and expand it to other CS places!
