If you haven't done it before, try the Disney Jr Dance Party. It starts right when EMH's start in the evening at DHS and its in the building where the Disney Jr show is done during the day.

A DJ plays, characters come dance with the kids and someone was doing balloon animals when we went in January. Its very informal and a little loud, but our son LOVED being able to just dance and not be forced to hold our hand for a while.:thumbsup2

DHS usually has evening EMH's on Mondays but it seems to have switched with Epcot for the week we are there to Friday.

Is the dance party only an evening thing? My daughter would live this!

I have learned that during the time period we are going to be at WDW there is going to be a national cheerleading meet held. I have heard that this is a BAD time to be at WDW. Very crowded with large groups that are rude and noisy!!! We have looked so forward to this trip and I am soooo excited but now some of the excitement has waned. We usually go during January but due to school schedules (my DH teaches at local college, I teach at local elementary school and have DS in high school, DS in middle school and DD in elementary school)we were not able to go until February. Has anyone ever been during the cheerleading weekend and is it as bad as it is rumored to be?

Its only during Evening Extra Magic Hours at DHS. And its not well publicized while you are there. I would not have known about it this past January if it had not been for the Disboards.

The cheerleaders are in competition during the day, so not in the parks until evenings. HS will likely have a private party for them one night. They do travel in large groups and practice their routines very loudly and energetically in the common areas at the resorts in the early hours. A*Sports tends to be full of them. Breakfast in the resort is mayhem for sure. Don't let it worry you too much and have fun regardless!

So we will be flying in from ND on thursday, for 4 days at WDW. We will also be spending 1 day at universal studios as it is imperative to visit Harry Potter world. My DW and DD(13) will be with (the other 3 will be remaining in the state of washington as they attend university there). We have been to disney land several times in the last 7 yrs that we lived on the left coast, with the most recent being Xmouse 2011. Now that we moved back to the midwest, I am hoping we will be able to go down every year or two, but money is a lot tighter with my new job. So, I have been hitting the sites and finding every discount I can. Thanks to the OP for this thread, and anyone with any suggestions, I would really appreciate! Thanks in advance, and happy times!!

We will also be doing at day at IoA. i'd like to call it ''roller coaster'' therapy, all my stress and troubles are wildly flung out of me!!

WOW...had to double check my count-down app on my phone, but sure enough - our trip is in 45 days!! (technically we fly out on Jan 31st) Woo-hoo.

So should I be getting a packet of some sort in the mail soon? I'm dying for it! :cool1:

We are flying out the same day...cheers for Jan31st!!!!

I am so excited, but really nervous it is going to be really busy. Oh well... Will have to cross my fingers. Also hoping for nice weather.

If you are PIF at the 45 day mark it will print at about 42 days depending on weekends/holidays and then you'll get it about 30 days before you arrive! :cool1:

Seriously. How can the countdown days seem to be going so slowly, but I still feel like time is going so fast? It can't be both!!

My plumbing issues are truly ruining my christmas. I know I should be appreciative that the HOA is covering all of this maintenance, but right now, I'm staring at an un-decorated Christmas tree and it's depressing me. I'm also looking at some of my few decorations that I got to put out and thinking I should just box them up too. I mean, what's the point? Is Christmas seriously only a week away?

Not to mention that our life is in little piles everywhere. What would happen if you had to empty all of your closets? Would you have somewhere to put that stuff? I'll tell you, I don't. It's just in piles. Everywhere. We have to go outside and turn the water back on every time we want to go to the bathroom! :faint:

OK. I know I'm whining. I'm done. Sorry.

We're down to 49 days before we leave and 50 before we check in at Disney! I don't know about you guys but since we hit 60 days time is going FAST! I can't wait till I see the online check in button even though I won't be using it!

I was also concerned about the Cheer week and did some research.

This will overlap with our stay. But they aren't even near POFQ so we won't share the resort with them.

2/10 will be our MK day do we're safe. We also don't do Indy or visit the ESPN pavilion which will help with our DHS day on the 8th.

Hope everyone has the same luck as us!

so sorry to hear this. I can imagine how frustrating that is. :(
I agree, though, time is going fast yet i'm still in the upper 40's? i think i had it in my mind i'd be in the 30's by Christmas (actually 40) so I mentally messed with my own head. duh

Another storm tonight, which means i'll probably lose some hrs at my 2nd job tomorrow. i'm not sure how much cash to bring? i hate carrying a lot for fear of losing it but I hate going to ATM's. anyone have any thoughts? (2 adults, only need $ for food, misc.)

I don't have the plumbing issues, but I've been feeling the same way about Christmas this year. Lots of family drama going on and it sucks the spirit out of Christmas. :faint:

I did get one of our trees up and I do love to look at it when it's turned on.

Maybe you can force yourself to decorate. I bet once it's finally decorated, looking at it will lift your spirits a little bit. And I think not decorating, when Christmas rolls around, will just depress you more.

Easier said than done, I know.

Take a look at the menus on allears.net - they'll give you a good estimate of costs.

I think I just roughly go with $40 pp at a TS and $15 at a QS - I think they generally overshoots it (but I'd prefer to do that).

We end up going nuts with spending when we're there - I'm terrible with estimates :rotfl2:

You are totally right about this. I dragged myself into doing my Christmas cards last night, and felt a lot less scroogy afterwards. Obviously, that was AFTER this post!! HA. Thanks for the reminder!

Thank goodness our ADR for HS is on the 2nd. I don't know what I would do if I had to shuffle ADR's and schedules around this late in the game. At least it sounds like Saturday is still a competition day, so we should be alright. I'll just make sure we get there at rope drop, so we don't have to deal with too many people. A little shuffling around to be done, but nothing extreme. Thank you for the info! =)

Yay! One step at a time!

I still have to decorate our Santa tree :sad2: It's usually done the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Hopefully they get the plumbing fixed up soon and it will all just be a memory! :flower3:
