*** New Official February 2013 Thread ***

So we are traveling Feb 23-Mar2 and celebrating DD's 7th birthday. It will be myself, DH, DD, DM, MIL, and FIL. We are staying at POR, hopefully in AB.

So far my plan is this:
23 - Arrival day; MK; ADR at Tony's but OOP so may change to CS
24 - AK; dinner ADR at Boma (can't wait!)
25 - Epcot; dinner ADR at Akershus
26 - MK; DD's Birthday; dinner ADR at CRT (sssh, it's a surprise ;))
27 - rest day; DTD; no ADR so meals are OOP
28 - no park chosen yet, but probably MK; dinner ADR at O'hana
1 - DHS; dinner ADR at 50's Prime Time
2 - Departure day; breakfast ADR at Chef Mickey's; MK for a few hours

Our flight arrives in Orlando on the 23 at 9am and leaves on the 2nd at 7pm.

Geez, maybe I'm losing it. Maybe there is only one pool & slide at AKL. I just checked a map and only see one. I feel clueless - never stayed there before and feel lost already & were not even there yet ;-)

There are definitely two pools at AKL (one at Kidani and other at Jambo). The slide question I can't answer since it was in the 30s for most of our trip in Feb. 2010. However, in my exploring I did see a great water cannon/play area at the Kidani pool. It is a great resort!

I have just recieved comfirmation from my wonderful hubby that we are going back to Disney World in February 2013!!! We have been the last 2 years in January and were not sure if we would be able to go this coming year or not. But dreams really do come true....Disney World here we come!!!! I have already made our reservations at POR for Feb 7th-Feb 12th!!!! And already have our ADR as well!!! We are not telling the kids until Christmas morning as an added Christmas surprise!!!! YAY!!! Definately doing the happy dance!!!!!!:santa:

I left the snow behind when I moved to Texas from Wisconsin in 94.

We will frequently split quick service meals. (He is skinny but fast greyhound type...needs frequent calories but not huge amounts.). Both adventurous diners. On our list:
ADR: Sci Fi Diner on Mon 2/4 at 4:45 so we can see Fantasmic after
Coral Reef Weds 7:35
QS: Epcot: Sunshine Seasons, Tangeriene (lamb!) , the Japanese udon place Katsura?
MK: Columbia Harbour, Be Our Guest at opening lunch time, Gaston's (must split pork shank with hubby, meal plan or no)
Contemporary: contempo cafe on our monorail trip.
HS: starring rolls and probably sit in writers place having coffee and resting
AK: flame tree BBQ
Downtown Disney (since AK closes at five that day we will check out DD): Cookes of Dublin (more lamb!)

Hi Fellow Austinite (or whatever the correct term is)
Just have to commend you on your fine choices for QS! The bolded places are must do's for us every time. We love lamb too. Wish it wasn't so darn expensive in the grocery stores.

Well, this is the third time I've changed our ADR's for our trip 2/1-2/9. Now our list looks like this:

2/1 Arrival day/DTD We'll probably grab a quick service meal that night.
2/2 DHS/Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic! package
2/3 MK/Crystal Palace w/Pooh and Friends for breakfast
2/4 Rest day/Boatwright's Dining Hall for dinner
2/5 Water park day/Coral Reef Restaurant for dinner
2/6 US/IOA Chef Mickey's for breakfast
2/7 Epcot/Akershus Royal Banquet Hall for breakfast, Biergarten for dinner
2/8 AK/Tusker House for breakfast

This is hopefully:thumbsup2 the last time I do this before we go. :rotfl2: yeah right! :lmao::lmao::banana::banana:

You look like a planner, so you probably realize this, but just in case I am going to stick my nose in your plans....you will need a park ticket on 2/5 to get into Epcot for Coral Reef. Have a magical time! pixiedust:

It's almost easier to find goat in Texas than lamb. I do love cabrito, though I think it will not be found at Disney soon. Maybe as the number of Hispanic and Latin American visitors grows?

I was reading about the special Mr Potato Head parts in the toy store at DD. will get some for my great nephew who is autistic. I might get some for me too. Customizable Disney Potato Head sounds like a terrific desk toy.

I wonder how many other Texans are going in Feb? This thread is so long I haven't tried searching it...

Katie (still working on selling scooter...of course it needs a new battery...) I will miss it but want to go Disney more )

If you've got 5 in 1 room you'll definitely be in AB - WITH ME! :lmao: We are there the same dates, Feb 22 - Mar 3.

We will also be in AK on the 24th and MK the 26th/28th! :wave2: if you see us :thumbsup2

Hi Jannel,
just wanted to ask you to change my resort from POP to POR, our dates are still 2/3 - 2/9 and our ADR's are also unchanged.

I was able to get a better CM discount if I upgraded to a moderate, so we are now in a Royal Guest River View room and we saved $6 by doing so!

Woohoo!

49 days to go!

We have two rooms, but I have asked for AB with connecting room :)

Just booked feb 11-22 @ Liki Tiki Villiage!!

Have you stayed there before? that's on my list of choices.

Worked extra hours today to make up for losing hrs yesterday. Another snowstorm this week, too! I love it but I don't like driving in it!
Must count the days til my trip, otherwise I'm guessing 48.:worried:

...garden view. We were going to be just the standard but there were no rooms left.
I have asked for bldg 16 or 17 so the parents don't have to walk too far but we'll have to wait and see?

you?

Same - garden view, and I think I have building 14 thrown in there as well!

We are planning a Christmas surprise for a children as well.

We are all booked for POR and best part is it's my bday the 6th and my twins the 7th and better yet it's Mardi Gras here so minimal school missed!

The kids are so excited and are an age where they love to plan. My biggest challenge right now is trying to snag a Be Our Guest reservation, I try couple times a day and will not give up! :)

Look forward to seeing who all is going the same time as us.

My youngest will have a BD on feb 6 as well, will be 6. We will be leaving a few days after you, traveling straight after school lets out on 2/8.

I'll be arriving on the 6th and it's my birthday too...although I will not be turning 6 LOL We are leaving the 6th after school and kids will miss the 2 days preceding the Mardi Gras holiday. Luckily our school is very understanding and accommodating with family vacations, usually giving administrative absences. It helps that my children have only missed 1 day of school so far this year.

Mine are too old to surprise and love love love to help plan, but we did do it once and it was the sweetest reaction, you should video your reveal.

HA I am so dumb!! I just realized I am responding to a response to me! My excuse is I just woke up LOL

I see you are a fellow MS coaster, I'm in OS, what about you? Weird but true DIS fact, my oldest DD got her college roommate from me meeting a mom here on the DIS! She was from Vancleave, small world! They only roomed for a year, but got along fine :) My DD graduated Friday with her Bachelors in Nursing, and IF she doesn't have a job in Feb I would love for her to join us.
