*** New Official February 2013 Thread ***

I'm excited to join this thread!! I have been convinced by a very good friend to do the PHM!!! We are tentatively staying at a value resort, TBD, arriving on 2/21-2/25. This is my first half marathon, I was at Disney for the marathon last year and put it on my bucket list... who knew I would be doing it so soon!!!

Hi AinsleyJane! Got you added to the roll call as resort undecided until you know which resort you re staying at. Good for you for doing the half marathon! I would love to eventually do it!

Please add me to the roll call. February 24th to March 8th. Thanks Pop Century.

I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about the park hours being extended for February and if so, when extended park hours will be announced. I know that in the past, I have seen the park hours extended prior to my trip, but I can't remember how early. I know that MK at least was open until 10 and some nights 1am last February, but 2013's schedule is showing a 9pm closing time for most of the same days. I would really like to know what the likelihood is of the hours being extended. It might affect my plans and my ADRs and I'd like to have time to make changes if I want to.

AK hours have been extended. Based on last years calendar MK hours might be extended as well specially now that EMH is only 2 hours long.

My 2 boys want to eat at Sci-Fi but I just read that you can not eat in a car with a high chair, which I will need for my 5 month old. Does anyone know about Sci Fi with an infant? Wondering if I can put her in a booster so we can sit in a car. If not, I am going to cancel that reservation because that was really the only reason they want to eat there!

I don't know about the limitations with a highchair, but we had a family of 5 and were not seated at a car.

If it is something they really want to do, I'd still do it. We didn't feel slighted by not being in a car, and there were cars all around us that were fun to look at :thumbsup2

Putting your 5 month old in a booster versus a high char will be up to you, but if they are anything like mine they'll be slipping all over that thing!

This is my first time responding on the boards. My family (DH, 12 year ol DS and 8 year old DS) will be staying at POFQ from Feb 22 - March 2. We will be celebrating my 8 year old's Birthday on the 22nd when we arrive. We have dinner ADR's at:

T-Rex (8 year olds pick for his B-Day)
Ohana
Via Napoli
Sci Fi
Liberty Tree Tavern
50's Prime Time Cafe
Biergarten
Crystal Palace

Cannot wait. This will be my 10th trip to Disney World but the first time for the Dining Plan. This is also our first time staying at anything other than a value resort - except for our Honeymoon when we stayed only 1 night at the Wilderness Lodge. I just hope the weather will be ok when we go. It's supposed to be a colder winter than usual in the south but being from Michigan, it will be a lot warmer there than here.

We'll be there very similiar dates, Feb. 24-March 4. We'll be celebrating a 4 yr old birthday as well! I've ordered a cake for our dinner at Garden Grill the 1st night! :wave2:

Hi all! I think I got everyone added to the roll call. If you didn't have your resort on your post, I just put undecided resort until I know where you are staying. Please let me know if there is a mistake or if you are not on the roll call at all. If you would like to join our Facebook group, please PM me and I will get you added! :)

91 days until my trip! I am sooo excited! Just have to book my flight now! :)

I'd like to be added to the facebook group but it says I need to have 10 posts to be able to PM you. Is there another way? I'm at 7 posts...guess I could just post a few more times today:) Thanks!

So here's a new question:

Do you use a check list when packing? And what is the one item you can't travel without?

Great question! I always use a check list when I pack and started mine several months ago for Disney. Keep adding to it whenever I think of something.

My kids are 3 and 5 so snacks are always pretty important to pack!

For those who have been to Disney before, what do you find works best for drinking water in the parks? I've read a few options, including bladder packs, freezing bottles in your hotel fridge to take with you, just using the water fountains...want to be sure we have lots to drink but don't want to be carrying around too much extra weight.

Thanks!

I'm picky with my water so I always carry a few bottles with me to the park. After they are gone I usually buy bottled water since I don't trust those water fountains. I've seen people washing their shoes and even a baby's behind on my last trip.

I have water delivered to my resort, but usually only bring one with me in the morning. I just don't want to carry more. I suck it up and buy the Disney water later in the day.

I've been 3 times in Feb but always seem to have a hard time bringing the right clothes without packing short and long sleeved items. What will your packing list look like? Last year I got tons of appliqué long sleeved shirts. Ended up being 84 degrees most days.

I was just thinking about this last night. I am a diehard water bottle fan. i have one All the Time. but i dont want to lose one in the parks. So I plan on buying bottled water our first day from Walmart or something.

My packing list will be separated into must have's (travel bags/tickets/$$), electronics (phone/charger), grooming, snacks and clothes. After check the weather, I'll pack about one tshirt/undershirt for each day, two long-sleeved shirts and roughly two light 'summer jackets'/hoodies just in case. One of those will most likely be used on the flight down as a real 'jacket' since we'll probably have snow when we leave.

As for that earlier question, I can't travel without my ipod or a new book. 2+ hours waaay up in the air without some sort of distraction from knowing how far I'm disconnected from the ground makes for a very anxious Ange. Also, after reading the above comments, I am never using the Disney water fountains again. Gross!

I know most don't think of Florida as a place that gets "cold", especially those visiting from the north. But keep in mind, I live on the southern coast of Mississippi and have driven to WDW in the sleet and snow in Feb. 2010. That was the year that every state in the continental US got snow. And it is a "wet" snow down hear ( not that nice fluffy stuff). Once you add the ever present humidity and wind, it seems colder than the stated temps. I have been twice (Nov. and Feb.) where temps. have gotten in the upper 20s. They don't stay that low but usually make for a couple uncomfortable days if you didn't prepare. The Feb. 2010 trip was 3 days with freezing temps. and by the end of the week the lows temps had moved to the mid 50s and the highs were in the low 70s. I even saw people swimming on our last couple days! Packing is always an adventure in Feb.!

If you have any ADR's, call and let them know that you are celebrating a birthday and the CM will put the Birthday person's name and age on each reservation. Each restaraunt will acknowledge the celebration when you check in. That's what we did for my son. Also, if you are staying onsite, ask for a Birthday button when you check in and have the 4yr old wear it every day - or you can pick one up at any of the parks. They are free! Your 4 year old will get at least a half dozen "Happy Birthday's" from CM's and other guests every day of your visit.

We have been there for some very cold Januaries, when they were pulling out the flowers because they had frozen to death. I'm mentally prepared for cold weather this trip. But I sure would like it if we got at least a couple days that were warm enough to swim. :)

It is all about the layering. And if it is really cold, a layer of wool will make all the different in the world.

Spending 13 Nights At all star music !
Hoping for a wonderful experience.
It may be farther away than my son and i are used to (downtown disney)
but i know it will be awesome!

especially due to the fact that we have a Disney Vaca on Wednesday Nov. 7-18 2012 !
