New Nintendo DS Question

Can someone tell me all about the New Nintendo DS.Not sure of what its called but I know some people have said it would be hard to get for Christmas (who knows).What is the difference between it and the othe Nintendo DS's?Thanks

Well it cost $40 more than the DS. It is called the DSi. It has internet capabilites and a digital camera. It is slightly larger. My DH bought one. My DS has a DS.

THey play the same games. For a kid I'd get the DS. I saw some packages on QVC this morning for Christmas in July.

The dsi can't play very old ds games (like 2005-2006 editions) and it doesn't play game boy advance games.

The nintendo ds doesn't have a camera or a web browser but can play all l ds games and game boy games and is cheaper.

From what I understand, you can go on the internet with it, takes pics/videos, etc.... Nothing so great that kids can't do already with their phones, computers, etc.

My friend got them for her kids and she said it was a waste of money. Having it just to have it because "everyone" has one.

My daughter wants one --- she got her DS less than a year ago for her b'day. If she wants a DSi, she can save her money and buy it herself. There is no way, no how I'm laying out money for this!

My kids just sold their old DS's and used their bday money to buy dsi's. IMO they are much cooler than the DS or Lite. They take photos and have tons of editing capabilities that are fun for kids - how much do 2 people resemble each other, morph people into a different person, etc. They also do have the internet capability and you can also download games from the internet - Dr Mario anyone? The kids have been so busy with the extra features that they hardly play the actual games. Oh, also screen is brighter which helps a lot. It only plays the DS cartridges (not Gameboy advance, etc like the DS or Lite does).

I am also trying to decide which one to buy for my DD7. I have a DS lite that my DH bought for my Bday in Feb.....and I was thinking of giving mine to DD7 along with a Tinkerbell skin (to make it seem "new") and buying a DSi for myself. Not sure if it is worth the extra $40 though....or just buy another DS lite for my DD - of course she wants the same color as mine though! You can find DS lites for $110 from time to time....but harder to find any discount on the DSi.
