I saw a picture of the new popcorn bucket from Disneyland shaped like a coffin with Jack Skellington on it. I'm sure it's for their Halloween season. Does anyone know if they will have them at Disneyworld also? I must have one.

Wow, I was confused. I thought "why in the world would Disney have a popcorn bucket from a rival television network?"

Seriously, these abbreviations are getting out of control.

Huh :confused3

You been on the DIS along time. The DIS has always used abbreviations. And as far as the Nightmare Before Christmas … I have always seen it stated as NBC. :thumbsup2 Seriously. ::yes::

I am used to acronyms online and on the DIS but it would have taken me forever to get Nightmare Before Christmas. Ha!

The bucket sounds really cool!

Haha, I actually thought the same thing. :rotfl:

I too was confused by the title - why Disney would have one from NBC Universal park or was it posted on the wrong board instead of Universal?

NBC has been used for Nightmare Before Christmas for quite some time. I can see how it would be easy to be confused at first, but then see what it was actually about and say "oh of course!" and move on...instead of calling it "out of control" and now turning a thread into an entire issue about "NBC" rather than the popcorn buckets.

That said, I'm a HUGE NBC fan and would love one of those buckets. They had the ghost Mickey buckets while I was there (got back on the 14th), no NBC themed ones. But DL's Haunted Mansion transforms into Haunted Mansion Holiday, which is NBC themed, so I can see why they'd have it and WDW wouldn't.

I understand why WDW does not do the Christmas overlay at HM, sort of. Not really. The overlay does not drastically affect the classical scenes like the dancing ghosts and the graveyard. The essence of the HM comes through with a little added fun. DD is a huge NBC fan, I'd love for them do the overlay at WDW. WDW does not even do the Small World overlay. Those lucky Californians get all the cool stuff World of Color, Indy, a better F!, better fireworks, a longer Pirates, Aladdin, Alice, NBC, Nemo subs, Carsland, sheesh!

Anywho that popcorn bucket sounds cool, sadly I doubt we'll get it at WDW.

MTE, ITA!!!! :thumbsup2

We were there 11-12-13 and we did not see the COFFIN either. :sad2: We might go back on Sunday for the day as DH and I love HMH!!! :thumbsup2

NBC has been used for Nightmare before Christmas for a long time... but this is the reason I've always preferred the use of NMBC as the acronym instead, even though Nightmare is one word.

While true, there's still enough NMBC merchandising around the World that it certainly wouldn't be out of place. Making a new popcorn bucket for one ride that gets a overlay for six (eight?) weeks a year seems a little much. I like the ghost mickey buckets but those were out last year too IIRC. The Jack one would be a very welcome change.

DHS to me is the Department of Homeland Security. Not Disney's Hollywood Studios. No matter how often I see it.

I have an R2D2 popcorn bucket that I believe was sold only during Star Wars Weekends. That's only four weekends a year.

I'm actually glad they don't to the Nightmare overlay at WDW's Haunted Mansion. And Florida does get two extra parks.

Why? :confused3

The Haunted Mansion is my favorite attraction and I prefer it in its regular form, without Jack Skellington in it.

True, but Star Wars Weekends is an entire event involving huge stage productions, celebrities, etc etc, not just a single ride. It draws Star Wars fans from all over the country, all driven by a love for Star Wars and a strong desire for Star Wars merchandise. It kinda takes over the park, in a way that an overlay on HM really can't.

But really, that was only a part of my point. If this were say, a popcorn bucket related to Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy (which I would still find odd for reasons above), I couldn't really see that showing up at WDW for any reason. A NMBC one? I see no reason why it couldn't. Which, to be clear, is NOT to say that I think it will, I just don't think it's a compelling reason for DL to have it and not WDW.

ITA, HM is my favorite and one that I will jump on 5x on a visit BUT I will say the overlap is FABULOUS! Take last night when it opened … the waits were crazzzzzzy long as its just so amazing what and how Disney does the overlay! To just change it up for all of 6-8 weeks is so awesome. I really miss the overlay come January. But then look forward to it in September again.

You have 10 months, Nala, at DL to enjoy the "regular" HM. I am actually glad that this is ONLY at DL … it started here in 2001 and no need to go anywhere else but here. They even have Jack and Sally you can have your pic taken with!!! JUST SOOOOO COOL!!!! :thumbsup2

They are selling R2D2 popcorn buckets right across from TSMM...my cousin bought one just 2 days ago.

NmBC affects DLR far longer than 2 months. HM closes down right after Labor Day, and doesn't open again for approx 3 weeks. It takes around the same amount of time to take the overlay off in January, so it's either NmBC or flat out closed for most of that September and January. Of course it's NmBC October, November, and December...so that's actually a HUGE amount of time that it's not the traditional HM.

While I'm glad that DS will go on it b/c of Jack and Sally, I personally think it 100% obliterates the true HM, and I wish they would just stop the overlay at DL (and cannot even imagine what I would think if they started it at WDW)

I was at MK today and they had the normal mickey ghost popcorn buckets out but looked at me like I had three heads when I asked about the Jack casket. :sad1:

One will be coming back with me from out west!!!
