New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

Hey ladies! I guess I can cautiously join this thread now. I'm a little over 4 weeks pregnant and I'm SO NERVOUS. I just can't wait until this crucial first trimester is behind me.
Other than that, I feel pretty good. My first appointment is August 6th and my due date is April 4th by my figuring. It might change after my appointment though, but I'll let you know!

Congrats!!!!!!! I am very happy for you!!!!!!!

I PM'd you :goodvibes

Hello ladies!! I'd like to join this group -- we are 6 weeks pregnant!! Just had the first ultrasound today and there is one healthy baby in there!!! I'm very excited.

We have a March 22nd due date based on our IVF date.

My history: did 2 IUIs, no success, did 1 IVF with 2 embryos and we are now pregnant with one. I have one 3 yo daughter. I'm 38 and DH is 45.

I can't wait to live the pregnant life with you all!:goodvibes

Hi everyone! Welcome to all the new expecting ladies. :) Sorry I haven't stopped by lately. Noah keeps me busy!! Here's some pics of him at 6 weeks last Tuesday. Can't believe he's going to be 7 weeks tomorrow!! It's gone by soooo fast!

Octoberbeauty, Noah is adorable! I think he looks a lot like you!

Love the photos ladies!
The naked ones always make me laugh, b/c I remember OUR attempt at that w/ our second daughter. We were trying to do a naked shot w/ her head in Dad's hand and she pooed all over him. He had to throw away the slippers he was wearing. Omigosh, I laughed sooooooooooooooo hard!!!
Welcome to all the new mommies!
The nesting question... I think it is too early for me to nest...then I recall that Sunday night I was scrubbing the outside of the grill (ok, I never touch the grill!) And last night, I somehow went from wiping the table after supper to being on my hands and knees wiping down the lower cabinets...so not me - that's why I have a cleaning lady ;) So, maybe I AM nesting!!!
Have a wonderful ladies...I am off to take the princesses to Vacation bible school, along w/ a carload of their friends ;)

Well yesterday wasn't fun....

Sunday night I barely slept, I had cramping in my abdomen for hours. I didn't think it was labor contractions because each one would last for 2 hours.

Then it would stop for a couple hours and start back up again. DH made me call the OB yesterday morning and the nurse told me to go maternity triage. Well I knew it wouldn't happen while I was there, but they did check me and I'm not dialated. Actually at the end of being monitored it did happen again. The "contraction" went up, and didn't come down for 35 minutes.

So they sent me home and I have been resting. I still don't know what happned, but my stomach is still sore from it. The best way I can describe it is imagine doing 100 sit ups and holding the last one for 2 hours. Then the soreness of all those sit ups hasn't gone away.

Weird but I guess each pregnancy is different. Oh the joys of pregnancy.

Hey everyone! Well I can't believe my Emma is almost 3 weeks old!! It went by so fast!
Here's some recent pictures of her.

Wow! Welcome to all the New Mommy's to Be :cheer2: .

Thanks for the updated pics, everyone. The babies sure are beautiful.

DVC - that sounds just awful! I am glad to hear that you aren't dilating yet. Too soon. I hope that doesn't happen again.

I am hanging in at 35 weeks. Other than this persistent muscle ache on the right side of my back and the horrible shooting pains in my cervix, all is well ;) . Really, though, I feel great.

Well today is much better. After talking to one of my BFFs, who is a physical therapist, she thinks my abdominal muscle may have torn. Certainly would explain a lot and why I'm still a bit sore. I see my doc next week, so I'll bring it up to her and see what she says.

Hey girls - just a little update on me...

I had another bad episode of bleeding and severe cramping and had to go to the ER - nothing appeared wrong so they sent me home and I saw my OB yesterday. The baby looks good - she checked a few things like the baby's heart, kidney's, ect and all of that looks good. The baby's heartbeat was in the 150's and was strong. Our u/s tech asked if we wanted to know the sex and of course we said yes. She tried for a solid 15 minutes to get him to move into a position so she could see the goods but he wouldn't. The baby curled into a tight little ball when she tried poking him to get him to move. So she tried hard, but no luck finding out the sex!! She did find that I have a very low-lying placenta - the placenta is not over my cervix, but is extremely low. She said this could be the cause of my bleeding that I've had. She also found a subchorionic hemorrhage. This is basically bleeding that occurs between the uterine wall and the amniotic sac. These kind of hemorrhages are associated with up to 30% of all 1st and 2nd trimester miscarriages. She said I'm probably past this point, but there can be other concerns such as pre-term labor and placental abruption. She said there's no evidence of the placenta starting to separate from the uterine wall, but it's something we need to keep an eye on for sure. As far as the pain I'm having she said it's most likely just a result of this hemorrhage which can cause abdominal pain and the contractions I've been having. She monitored me and did pick up contractions but since my cervix is staying closed and not getting shorter she assured me they were just strong braxton hicks. Since the subchoionic hemorrhage is associated with pre-term labor I have to be careful the braxton hicks contractions don't become regular and I have to watch carefully for any other signs that I may be going into labor. I was ordered no "activity" for the duration of my pregnancy, no sports, no exercising, no lifting, ect... I am on modified bedrest. I can't be on my feet for more than 30 minutes at a time. I am allowed to go to work but I have to sit all day and not stand, I can cook dinner, clean, ect but I have to take breaks and take it really easy. She said at this point full bed rest isn't something she feels we need to do, but may be in the near future. She's also concerned over my blood pressure - it was 165/82 today and I started out at about 100/55 during the first few months of my pregnancy. At the ER it was 167/100. She said that itself may cause me to need to be put on bedrest. She was also concerned over my weight... I've lost 5 more pounds since my last appointment and she wasn't too happy about that. I will be seeing her again for evaluation regarding these things on August 14th.

I'm so sorry this has been so difficult on you, DisMooner. Take good care of yourself: NOTHING is as impportant as your health and your baby's health. :goodvibes

Well, I guess it is time for me to graduate from the TTC thread to this one. I am 28 yo and will be 8 weeks pregnant as of tomorrow. This is my 3rd pregnancy though my first two ended in miscarriage. We are pretty nervous this time around for obvious reasons but excited as well. Had an ultrasound last Wednesday that measured the fetus at 7w 2d so seems as though this one is growing. Heart rate was 125 (anything over 100 is good as far as I have been told) My nausea is much worse this time than it was the first 2 times so my midwife says that is good!

My due date is March 11th though my midwife told us to expect the baby around St. Patty's day as most 1st babies are late! My HB was pretty excited with that day!

Look forward to going through this with you all...

Well did my glucose test no gestational dietbetes:banana:   I just have spots on my feet need to ask about. How swollen did you guys feet get when preggy???

:cheer2:
Welcome Hotveggy!!!
:cheer2:

As for swelling, well I have had it both ways. I don't remember much about my first two pregnancies  , but with my last I was an absolute balloon. I was quite literally fat all over. My hair, my face, my feet, my hands. My OB even said my feet were "gross". Now, in all that time, my blood pressure was always low and I never had any other troubles. For whatever reason, I just filled with fluid. So much so, that I could feel the water "sloshing" around on the top of my feet.

Now this time it is the complete opposite. Wierd, huh? I have had very little swelling and I just have a round baby belly. My hands and feet swell only when I have been outside in the extreme heat for long periods of time.

Note to self and others...walking from the Smithsonian to Arlington in July at 33 weeks along to show the city to visiting relatives = not a good idea!!!

With DD I had a bit of swelling, but not with the boys. The summer makes it harder too. Just drink lots of fluids and prop up those tootsies.

I had a rough night last night. Dinner didn't agree with my stomach and I've been sick all night. UGH! I need a break from this week.
