New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

I just want to share that I haven't a single paycheck since I returned to work!!!!! That's been nearly 2 months on the 9th of March. I don't work as much so all I'm doing is working to pay insurance which I just cannot catch up! I just sent another $100 check!! I should send it all for medical and let them catch dental up from my paycheck. It's not as much! Good thing I'm a server huh?? It's VERY frustrating because I was using paychecks to fund our ING account and I'll NEVER be able to do that at this rate. Can't wait for the money Bush is working for us. What is it....$500 per adult and $300 per child. So $1300 for hubby, Mo, and I. I'll take ALL of that and put into our ING accounts.

Ugh! I know that has got to be frustrating!! We're looking forward to the money coming our way, but wonder about how it will all work out next year. We finally got our tax refund back, too. Now that money we have plans for already!!!

Cute pic of Mo, by the way! I can't wait until Amanda is smiling all the time like that. Right now, we're still in the smiling while asleep, or trying to poop, stage! She is engaging eye contact more, though, which is priceless.. melts my heart! Now if we could just get through this whole puking/reflux stage, that would be great!! She is starting not to like the Zantac! :sad2:

well due date is 26 or 27 of oct i go in on april 9 to hear the heatbeat. I am going to find out its gender cause if its a boy it going to have to live in a pink room. hopefully it won't make the boy too sensitive.

I am currently taking BCP (calmaria - I think that is the name), my doctor gave them to me and they are an extremely low dose. After I stop breastfeeding I have another prescription for Ortho-Tri to start.

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

So I'm guessing as long as it is a low dose it is ok. I forgot all about asking yesterday at my appt. My DH surprised me and showed up for the appt :goodvibes

I'm now 2.5cm dilated. She could feel his head and said I have a 50% chance of making it to my next appt. which is on the 6th. Just need my contractions to become more regular and Chase will be on his way :lovestruc

Rebecca, you sound like you are on your way to the rate I was dilating. I wasn't feeling contractions but just about your point, I was 2.5 cm and a week later I was 5. yes, I had to be induced, but they were sure I would have delivered that weekend based on my contractions.

Holly Joy, how are you giving her the Zantac? Dom never really liked the stuff either (have you tasted it? I sure don't blame him) but we do okay if we have him leaning back and use a syringe to put it in his mouth. Droppers are horrid and never work well.

Does the Zantac work well? How often do you have to give it? I think Emmaline is having problems with reflux. My poor girl has all the symptoms except poor weight gain. I'm taking her to the doctor tomorrow and hoping that we can try Zantac, although her doctor probably won't want to go that route (she told me to rub her with olive oil instead of baby lotion and told me to give her a bottle of water every day:lmao: ). She is so miserable after eating, it's awful. Even an hour and a half later, she is gagging, clearing her throat, spitting up etc. I have a bit of an oversupply issue, so I'm nursing her on a block feeding pattern now which has helped and I've also cut out all dairy (I think she gets worse when I have dairy). I also nurse her inclined, thinking gravity might help her. I'm running out of ideas here, but the last few days have been really miserable for her.

OMG, it is SUCH a life saver for us. We went from a colicky miserable child (and mom) to a dream of a child. I am so not making this up, but he smiled the day after we brought him in. We do not deal with the crying and the horrid gas issues we used to.

We tried everything with Dom from thicker formulas, to feeding every 2 hours during the day, to feeding upright, to holding up right for 30 minutes to an hour after feeding... well you get it. We did the extra water during the day as well and nothing helped. Dom was even on formula since I had milk supply issues and was on the most hypoallergenic w/o going to the special ultra expensive formulas. Nothing worked. He was growing like a weed, but he was in obvious pain. He'd even scream when he yawned or sneezed. We seriously were trying everything and I was about ready to lose it. It was getting to the point where he would scream for hours on end and nothing could console him.

We give him his Zantac twice a day. It is weight dependent so that will change as he grows. It's actually time for us to up the dose since he is almost 14 pounds now. We started off at .5 ml twice a day and then we are currently on .75 ml twice a day.

I am not one who likes medicine or to do anything other than natural, but this is definitely something that I would push for again and definitely sooner. I am told that he should grow out of it between 6-12 months and 2 years at the absolute worst. I am all for giving him something that will make him not in pain and this truly worked!!!

How old was he when you started? I hope this is the answer to Emme's discomfort

He was 5.5 weeks old. We always knew he had reflux (nurses noticed it from the day he was born) and he was always a fussy baby who had sleep issues. Around 3 weeks it started getting really bad and by the time he was a month old I was beside myself wondering how I could take care of him myself. The doctor said the weeks of reflux just hurt his throat and it would take a week before it would heal better. He was fussy the first week on it, but has been great since. When he gets to be a fussy eater consistantly we know it is probably time to up the dose.

I hope you are right. :goodvibes I'm ready...but not ready at the same time. My DH is having major pre-Daddy anxiety. It is kinda cute

I'm so glad that Dom is doing so well with his medicine. I hope he grows out of his reflux soon. :goodvibes

Yeah, got my Nuchal results back. 1/5441 for Downs. I am now anxious to find out one this little one is.

I'm finally getting around to posting pictures of Adien even though he'll be 2 weeks old tomorrow. oops:goodvibes hope I did it right this time.

Candee- Those pictures are beautiful. You have very beautiful children.

It's hard to believe how fast the time is flying. Emmaline is 3 weeks old today. I feel like I gave birth a long long time ago (is that labor amnesia?). We went to the doctor today and she was put on Zantac .8ml twice a day. I really really hope this helps her because DH is working a lot lately (It figures his work would get busy when I need him here) and I am having a hard time handling her myself. I hate seeing her in pain.

On a different note, today I got some neat stuff in the mail. My best friend sent me a big box of clothes from her daughter to use. It's kinda like shopping without having to spend money ;)

Also, I got a big pack of wipes from Lansinoh for free. I emailed them to tell them how I like their products and they sent me out a big pack. Unfortunately, Emmaline is a very sensitive child and can't use pampers sensitive skin wipes, Huggies Natural care or store brand. So I'm left to use expensive wipes, but at least she doesn't get a rash from them. On Amazon, they have a subscription service where you can get an extra percent off, so I'm getting the wipes from them. They also sell diapers this way too. I don't know what kind to get, so I'm just hopping around brands right now. My little piggy now weighs 8lbs 14 oz and has outgrown her newborn swaddlers. What kind of diapers do you guys use? We just tried Huggies Gentle Care, but she got all red around her waist where the elastic band was. Even though it wasn't tight, she still reacted to it...

I'm giving it to her straight from the syringe. She doesn't seem to mind it.. I follow it up with the liquid vitamins, which she seems to like much better! :)

So far, the Zantac has helped, though she still spits up a lot. Guess we just have a spitter upper! lol However, the gagging has calmed down quite a bit.

Adien is ADORABLE :)

As for diapers, we've been using Pampers, but are just about out of them. So far, we've lucked out, and haven't had to buy any!! However, I picked up a HUGE box of Costco diapers today. I hope they are good, for we have tons of them now! LOL I did search online for reviews, and all the reviews I found gave them good ratings! We'll see!

Also, I think I mentioned on here that I am hating the Gerber Onesies that we have. I was given a couple packs as a gift, and well just about all of them have ripped around the snaps, leaving them unuseable. I contacted Gerber, and they are replacing them free of charge!! They're also sending me the next size up, instead of newborns! Still won't buy them, but will certainly take the replacements!

Interesting...I've had NO problems with the Gerber Onesies that I've purchased. I've only lost a snap on one of the Carter outfits. Hmmm.

Isn't that funny! Maybe I got a bad batch, it's crazy! So far, ALL SIX have completely ripped!! Both had the same lot numbers, too. I have noticed, though, that the Carters 'onesies' are much thicker than the Gerber's, and are much stronger by the snaps. Glad you haven't had any problems with yours, but if you do, DON'T THROW THEM AWAY! Call Gerber, and get them replaced!

I don't think it is just you. I've had a couple Gerbers that ripped at the seams. In all honesty, I don't think it is worth having them replaced. They are the thinnest material and they run teh smallest. I don't seem to get near as much time out of them size wise. I do like Carters best! Of course right now Dom spends more of his time in the footed and long sleeved styles since it is so cold still.

Adorable pictures Candee!!!

Lisa, glad you have her on Zantac. I do hope it works for you. Dom still spits up, but the smell and look of it is much improved.

As for diapers, we use Costco brand. They guarantee that their diapers will work just as well as the name brands or they will give you your money back. They have been working great for us. Pampers was our favorite, though Huggies worked for us okay. Target and White Cloud did NOT work at all for us. They constantly leaked pee.

oops! I just noticed that I spelled my own son's name wrong. It's Aiden. :rolleyes1 Sorry about the pictures being sideways. I edited them but they still came up like this.

We use the pampers swaddlers . . . reason - they don't stick to her bottom. They have a liner that keeps the wet part from her bottom. Huggies stuck to her bottom and luvs just didn't hold up well (leaks!)

We are changing to the size 2 of pampers because she is growing so much. Also, I order mine from diapers.com and they have a special of $10 off any 50 purchase and they also accept mfg. coupons and they are delivered to your door by UPS and you don't pay taxes!

PM me if you want the coupon code to make the purchase.

Charles and I decided that if the store brand diapers work, then we're using them. So the Walmart and Target brands are what we buy. They have worked THE BEST for Mo thus far. I find the ONLY time it leaks is if the diaper hasn't been changed in awhile.
I've gotten plenty of wear out of his Gerber Onesies also. I believe all the ones I purchased were for 3-6 months because I knew they ran small. I've gotten good use from the Walmart brand clothing also as well as Carter's! I bought Mo $25 worth of Carter's stuff on Sunday when we went to the Outlet Mall! LOVE that store! Will be going there again soon! :goodvibes

Hi, don't think I've been here before, but I'm a mom to be... First timer! And scared to death this whole pregnancy!
