New Mom Help...

I like to buy new babies (parents) diapers in different sizes. I also like to buy an outfit that baby can wear now (or soon) and one for the following year.

You can't go wrong with diapers and baby wipes. Maybe it is not sentimental, but it sure is helpful.

Our church has people bring meals to new parents for a couple weeks - during adjustment time. That was my favorite gift....

I work in the Purchasing department at a Medical College, and I noticed that our Pediatric department always orders these "Temporal Thermometers". They are supposed to be as accurate as the rectal thermometers, and this can be used without waking the baby. You just slide the thermometer gently along the forhead. I bought one for my cousin who is expecting, and these can be used for older children and adults as well. I thought this might really come in handy when the baby gets sick, and it is something they can use for years, not just a few months. The Walmart stores now sell them in the infant department.

I loved the Boppy. For our first we got one when she was a bit older, 5 mth i think and wished I had it all along. Our DS had one immediately. We used it for everything. I wasn't able to figure out how to get comfortable for bf'ing with it so that sort of blows the theory its only good for that!

One of my most memorable gifts was a big basket of lotions, diaper cream, bubble bath, shampoo, etc. It got me through one full year. That stuff really adds up.
