New MK Paid Disney After Hours Event Announced

Ok so I have vented and I see many others are too but if we really want to feel if we are voicing our opinion then we need to address it to the proper source. The CM I spoke to give me guest relations email. I suggest whom ever is not happy join me in sending Disney an email. I spoke with another CM who has told me there is no FP for this event and is very limited. Guess we will find out.

True, there are never FP for after hour events, Parties, EHM, etc.
But there are FP for the time you can get in while the park is still open to the GP
So that's not quite accurate

Folks keep making the comments that Disney is pricing the average middle class family out. I think most people plan their vacations at least 6 months out of more. So people traveling this year probably started planning awhile ago & are already committed to going to Disney. Will be interesting to see if the parks & hotels are still jam packed in about a year.

I don't see that as accurate at all either. We are most certainly middle class. As is everyone I know who goes to Disney. I'd venture to guess the majority of the posters here are also.

You used horses to explain why you'd be fine with paying the ridiculous price. The other user pointed out that they too keep horses and to them that didnt make the price okay. Meaning that "keeping horses" cannot be used as a certainty when it comes to justifying your willingness to bleed money for Disney, as others in the same situation have different views.

When you spend $350 just to have the horse chiropractor out for 20 minutes, small sums of money start to not feel so expensive. $150 for 3 hours of something you enjoy seems cheap. That was the joke. I'm predicting this is exactly the same as the 25th anniversary DVC Night that happened last month.

If it is as quiet and cool as that event $150 may be worth it. But I need more info before I shell out that kind of cash on an event which currently states Novelty Ice Cream as its main selling point.

Other posters on this board said wait times that night for 7DMT were 45 min all night and 1 hour long wait for tiana and other characters.

I'd go just for the singing ghosts at the haunted mansion. I'd stand there for an hour just listening to that. And the tightrope walker!

For $150 they singing ghost better be giving me a massage while they sign.

I think this actually would be a good option for families with older children or adults only. Entry is at 7. I bet you will be able to make FPs for the time between 7 and official closing. The transition will be much easier since this is attraction focused. It will be easy to turn non paying guests towards the gate. No parades, fireworks, or shows to tempt party crashers.

Then three hours of promised low crowd levels and lack of stroller families ( no offense). My teenagers could eat their weight in ice cream bars. The attraction list is large. A family with a good plan could get plenty done in that amount of time.

A one day ticket is 124 at peak. A hard ticket for $149 with entry at 7 isn't much more, with ice cream and drinks. This will appeal to guests with shorter stays. More families are now affording only 2 or 3 nights and there really isn't much to be saved when a park ticket is three days or less.

If is anything like the DVC event wait lines weren't that short. See above comment.

I think we will just have to find out. But I do believe you are right. During the Halloween Party you make them before 7:00 when they chased all the others out. So if you planned you FP well you could fit in your 3 FP. If this follows suit then people will be able to fit in 3FP before 11:00pm. Time will tell. Just wish they did not do this to the people like me whom are now stuck due to Disney's encouragement to make FP 60 days out and ADR's much earlier than that.

Oh I don't necessarily see it as true either. But it is a statement that pops up. Someone is filling the parks & hotels. And I dn't think the economy is that good that everyone at WDW is above middle class. So I think it will be interesting to see if all these cuts & incresed prices really keeps average Americans away.

I wonder if this is at all the reason for not releasing the MNSSHP dates (I know in the past they have been released much later than last year). I wonder if they are going to see how these parties go, then make some of the nights in Sept & Oct MNSSHP and some this after hours party.

And, you would think with all the cast member cutting....they would have a hard time staffing these additional hours!

Personally, we won't be participating in this and EMH isn't really on our itinerary ever. If people want to spend the money that's their business. I hope it's worth it for them. I am very interested in hearing a review.

Sorry if this has been discussed already and I missed it, but I was wondering if they have taken away anything from regular paying guests for this event? Are they closing the park earlier? Did they cut back on extra magic hours? It's one thing to add something extra for those willing to pay, but I think really under-handed to remove things from current guests who have booked their vacations months ago.

Selfishly, I'm worried that if they think $150 is reasonable for this then this means they are going to raise the party prices. We typically go to Disney twice a year, the Halloween and Christmas parties. Those work for us because it's cheaper than a day ticket and we can get a decent number of rides in since we don't care about the characters, plus there is the added bonus of the atmosphere and parades. We typically combine the parties with a short on-site resort stay and do a couple of nice meals, so Disney gets a decent amount of $ from us. They are already close to losing us for the MNSSHP because of the insane crowds at our party last year. It wouldn't take much for us to skip the whole thing.

I think they'll start off with adequate staffing for the event. After all 450K plus can accomplish that. But like everything else, I could see them cutting back if this continues past the initial set of dates.

I got your meaning! Along the same lines, anyone bought tickets to a major sporting event recently? We share seasons tickets for the Buffalo Sabres. Season ticket holders do get a discounted price, but many people buy tickets for individual games. Prices for each seat can be $150 or more. For a hockey game that lasts about 2.5 hours. What people think is "worth it" or has value is very subjective.

How in the world is a shorter event, with no extra entertainment, worth double what a party costs? There's no way I can eat or drink that additional $80 in ice cream and bottled drinks...

I have (and will again) on multiple occasions paid $75+ and more to RUN THROUGH Disneyland and California adventure, spending less than 45 minutes total in the parks with no rides at all, so I have a skewed sense of cost when it comes to all things Disney. I totally get this!

Even on a day with average crowds and a good FP+ selection, you can only get on so many rides. Many, like myself would purchase multi day tickets to make sure they could ride everything they want for as many times as they can. My family and I can crank rides out if the lines are short. If I could purchase these after hours tickets and ride each ride enough times to be satisfied, I could eliminate the multi day ticket and save money.

That's only if every ride is open, which we don't know yet. If only a handful of stuff is open, there will be lines even with a reduced number of guests.

I can't see us doing this either, too late with little kids. I wonder if they will over sell it. I have heard awful stories of the parties getting waaaaaaay oversold and people not enjoying themselves because of the crowds. When you pay extra for low crowds, it is very upsetting to have long waits for rides and characters. I know I would not be happy paying all that money and have it be super crowded.

Back in 2009 we did Spring Break late EMH and it was really awesome. I can see the appeal for some to do this.
