New Military Discount???

I just spoke with Vincent at Disney.

There IS a new Armed Forces Salute.

I just switched my room ressie from the AP rate to the AFS rate.

The ticket deal is:

4-day Park Hopper OR WP&M for $138 + tax
4-day Park Hopper PLUS WP&M for $165+tax

AD member and up to 5 dependents allowed to get discount.

So is this discount better than free dining for a family of 5 (3 adults, 2 children)? It seems at first glance that the free dining is a better deal:confused3

I just crunched numbers on our Christmas trip and free dining is a better deal for us. BUT now I am planning a short trip next summer to use this new offer!!! :goodvibes

Does anyone know when the "official" word will be out. :confused3 Also, will you be able to buy tickets on base, just as you have before?

I'm so excited about this! :cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

i hope they release something official soon...the ticket discount would save us quite a bit in november
the room discount is the same as my pin though...

Depends on where you're staying, really. You have to crunch the numbers. You can still add dining at full price, if the DDP is important to you.

It is official. There just isn't anything online. I was told I can buy my tickets at ITT on base, but I haven't called them to see if they have them yet. If not, as in years past, they will be $138+tax or $165+ tax

Is there a code you have to tell them when booking the room discount? We went in July of this year with the military discount and I had to give them the code for it when I booked over the phone (it was a three letter code, it was all over the internet).

I didn't need one. The CM had asked me if I wanted to buy tickets when I called. I said I was holding out for Military Salute tickets. She said--you can do that! And read off the information. Then I asked and she just applied the room discount to my reservation.

Long story, short: just call and say you'd like to get the military discount added to your room.:)

Wasn't it just $99 for the 4 day base over the summer? I thought that's what we paid. Did it go up that much? :confused3

I'm so excited that there's a new military discount, but I wish we had more information.

Are there any black-out dates for the room discount? Can you purchase the discounted tickets over the phone or do you have to buy them in-person at the gate?

I would really like to be able to take advantage of as much of this offer as possible. We are booked at Pop from 11/11 - 11/16 but we have already paid off our trip - which included room (25% off with pin code), tickets, and dining.
If not, sounds like a good excuse to go ahead and plan another trip

That ended last month they were call the salute tickets. In 2009 the military member got a free ticket and dependents were $99 for a 5 day ticket. 2010 they took away their free ticket and it went down to 4 days.

The $99 tickets were just the base MYW tickets and you would have to pay $25 each for PH and/or WPM. The new deal is $138+tax for 4 day Park Hopper and $165+tax for 4 day PH and WPM. So, its really only an increase of $15 or so.

And you only have to add tax if you opt to buy it at the window instead of on base or at Shades of Green ;)
