We just seen the New Merida, I do not like it, she looks like a grown up version, I liked the younger version better. My DD seen it too, I told her that it was Merida after she had grown up, she asked to see the New Brave Movie with the Grown Up Merida:lmao:

I definitely prefer Pixar/original Merida.
I do wonder how much of the makeover has to do with the fact that Disney princesses are played by humans in the park rather than soft costumes.

I don't get it either :0/ I don't understand why it is so hard to find a 21-25yo who look 16-18? I have some family members who do or better yet all of the thousands of head shots they must look through for casting the Disney shows surely they can find some person to fit the original young/girl princess type to portray them in every park.

I don't see a problem with it. Why would this cause outrage? They gave all the other Disney princesses make-overs...it would look weird if all of the other Princesses were one style and Merida was pictured in her CGI/Pixar form...

I like both. :confused3

I don't get the outrage either. Her eyes are a different shape, but I don't see a huge difference.

It's very disappointing to see the changes. I realise they had to change the look so she can fit in with the other Disney Princess line up. The "sparkles" being added to the dress is very disappointing. It's quite different in colour and style to her original dark green outfit. In fact, it's more like the "Princess" dress the Queen made Merida wear and Merida hated the dress and ripped it. She's also being seen without her bow, something that all the original images of Merida showed her with.

With the image in that article, Merida looks VERY different. The face is different, the hair is difference, she is now thinner (both in the face and the body), all the detailing has been added to the hem of the dress. On the sleeves and albows it is now much more pronounced. When she was riding through the forest, I don't think she was wearing sparkles.

Merida is such a fantastic characater and Princess. Not the usual "girly girly" like Cinderella, Snow White and Aurora. She is a very strong character and didn't need a Princess to rescue her, she helped herself and her family.

If this is what Merida will look like now, at least we will get to save money on merchandise because we wouldn't buy anything where she looks like this.

Ah I see a difference but for what it's worth it's the message she sends not the looks that matter. Happy Mother's Day

Her gown is also lower cut and off the shoulder, which is oh so practical for wild rides through the forest.

Hate this and so does my 9 year old DD she said "great, another Barbie princess" when she saw the pictures.
