My DH and I just got back from our honeymoon and while we were there we joined DVC! We now own 50 points at Poly and are planning our first DVC trip for next year to the Grand Californian! It feels so good!

Congratulations and good luck. The Grand Californian can be very difficult to book. There are only 23 rooms there.

Congratulations... Neighbors... I owned at Poly too. Don't want to be negative. But GCV is really hard to get at 7 month mark. Be ready to book with your points at their hotel... You could choose from the 3 of them... And the handling fee of 95 can be waived.

Congratulations!! We loved our DVC!!

You also did good because when you decide to sell a 50 pointer it will be easy to unload.

Congratulations! I would ask your salesperson to pull some strings for your first stay to get you VGC, they can work their magic on your first trip as members since you bought direct.

Can they do that for non home resorts? I thought they could often help with your first reservation but had never seen that mentioned when booking a non home resort?

Let's hope they do it for these newlyweds!pixiedust:

This was a while ago, but six years ago when we were very close to buying BLT direct, they were going to book us a room at Grand Californian for us because we had a Disneyland trip booked just a few months later.

That's great to hear-didn't realize they could/would do it for non home resorts-best of luck OP

I bought direct last month and had a DL trip booked for August already. When we asked about the Grand Cali, our salesperson said he couldn't do much due to the size and that everything has been booked for a while.

It could be true, but Disney retains ownership of 2 percent of the resort and also has villas in their inventory from members who trade out their points for DCL or ABD.
