New Member-Question on points Expiration date

Just bought last week while at WDW...home report is the Poly, use year in December. We have the 2015 points, most of which I am planning on using in Feb 2017. But I don't need all of them. We bought 120...probably will use 100. If I understand correctly, we have to bank the 120 points by July of this year. Then I will use some for my Feb 2017 trip, and what I don't use will remain banked, correct? How long do i have to use the banked 2015 points? I was thinking Nov 2017. Or is it 2018?

Dec 2015 points have a Dec 1, 2015, to Nov 30, 2016 use year, which points you must use for a trip during that period unless you bank. They can be banked into the Dec 2016-Nov 2017 use year, and used for a trip during that year. They must be banked by no later than July 31, 2016. For that Feb 2017 trip, the points must first be banked, i.e., if you are going to make the reservation now in April of this year for next Feb, you will want to bank them before you do the reservation. All points banked into your Dec 2016 use year must be used for a trip that ends no later than Nov 30, 2017, or they will expire, and they cannot be banked again into a later year.

The Dec 2015 points must be banked by July 31, 2016 in order to not lose those points at end of Nov 2016. Those Dec 2015 points will then need to be used during your Dec 2016 use year vacation period (Dec 2016-Nov 2017); otherwise, I believe you will lose those banked points.

Think of a UY as a bucket. The buckets are lined up and already contain your points for each UY. During the first 8 months of any UY any unused points can be moved to the next UY bucket one time only. You want to use banked points first when booking a reservation. If you need more points for a reservation you can get them from next years bucket but when the bucket is empty it's empty. Points need to be in the UY bucket for the dates of your stay, not when you place the reservation.
