This board has already been so helpful I hate to even ask for more advice . . .

We just received our package from DVC today and I want to make our first reservations for SSR in September. We're staying for 6 nights, Saturday thru Friday. I don't even know how many buildings are finished at SSR, but is one better than another? What should I consider before calling and requesting a 2 bedroom? Is there a view that I want? We're traveling with 3 kids (one turning 6 while there!, a 3 year old and an infant) and grandparents. Anything else to consider when requesting a room?

We're terribly excited about being members and looking forward to our first trip. I'm anxious to call and make reservations ASAP. ANy suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks :)

There will only be a few buildings open at this time. I expect we'll hear more about which rooms/bldgs to request after members stay there starting in May. Typical requests would be smoking or non, water view or not, upper/lower floor, near elevator, etc.

CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME HOME! :bounce:
Since no one really knows for sure what buildings are going to be like or open at any given time, and there will be construction going on, I would not stress too much about view for an early stay. I think you will be thrilled no mattter what. Good luck on the ressie, and have a GREAT first trip!

I am also a member with SSR as my home resort, but I chose to try another DVC resort for our first stay. We be at BCV in July, also in a 2 bedroom. There are 6 of us, 2 adults and 4 kids.

My own logic was that I will always be able to get reservations at SSR, so if there was availablity somewhere else at 7 months, why not try that first. It will only get harder in the future as more SSR sales are made. We can always see the SSR models while there.

Depending on when in September you will be there, you could have a good chance at another resort. On the other hand if you are under the 7 month window, other resort owners could have already beat you to the room you want at SSR. Best of luck.

Welcome Home!

All of the buildings that will be complete when you are 'going home' to SSR will have a Lake/DTD view of one kind or another - there shouldn't be 'view' options until they start opening buildings 5-12 next year.

One other thing to keep in mind is if you want / don't want a handicapper unit, you can make a request.

That's what we're here for and we love to help! Ask away and don't hesitate!

You'll be helping out other members and prospective members sooner than you think.

Welcome to the DIS and Welcome Home, too!

Best wishes -

Is there a map of the resort and what will be finished at that time that you can look at? Maybe there is one on this website, or perhaps you got one with your papaerwork??? I'd take a look there, and see where the buildings are in relation to DD. That way you can determine do you want to be closer to DD or further away?
