New MB's???

It ok to disagree...as you said.

Here's another one...I dislike the bands strictly for what I said: wasteful, Eco unfriendly products made in China...

It ends there. Has nothing to do with fastpass...

Anybody in your party buy a design band? Ever wear a watch?

Plastic park pass? And often a separate plastic room key?

How about AC with no walls? Rides running on electricity?

I am also fine with my phone taking over for the bands.

I'm not a fan of schedule down to the minute...it's tacky...and even less so of tiered rides and reducing table availability...both embarassing...
But it ends there. Not tied to the bands.

We schedule our FP+ day of or the night before. Often in the parks. No different than old FP at that point.

Ok...book an earlier flight.

That is the earliest, 7AM direct lands at 11 with the time change, but 8AM is the nicer flight, either way 9:30AM ain't happening.

But then again, why stress-we have FP+ set already.

Heck, I have even worked the morning, taken an afternoon flight because of FP+.

I can see where it's advantageous to go off property and use the prebooked later in the day...I get that.

It ends there.

If you park hop in Disney...you're screwed under both systems...you either skip the prime rides in the first park or pick over leftover scraps later in the day using fastpass. Potato/potato

Not true. We RD DHS and get TSM/RNR and TOT done in the first hour without FP+, then do the shows ST and GMR by lunch or early afternoon. Same with AK and EPCOT, even MK actually. Regardless we never could get a good FP after hopping to another park that night. Now we do.

My 2 cents:) Hated the old FP system, you HAD to get to the parks early if you wanted one for any of the prime rides, not to mention you no longer need a "FP runner". Now my family has 3 FPs every park day. Bottom line is that the old system is dead and pretty sure will never come back, so really a waste of time discussing it especially on this thread that has nothing to do with it.
Not a fan of adding it to your cell either. I can see it now, people arguing they have FP's but their cell is dead and cannot show it. I also prefer bands over something people can carry for the reason I stated earlier about waiting behind them while they search for it, because god forbid they have the common courtesy to move off to the side:( And if you do not like to wear it, put it on your belt loop. Okay, maybe that was 3 cents worth:)

Don't misunderstand my stance...we aren't debating bringing back the paper system...it's long gone.

I think that the prebook system takes some of the point of vacations - relaxation - completely off the table.

But there are certainly upgrades/advantages as well. To cut days in half and do the highlights is one of them.

But the tiers are a big black eye for Disney...and it looks cheap for such an expensive place.

Pick "one" of the headliners? Will my ticket be reduced then?

No?

...see that's just bad. They should remove the tiers...which means less people get on each of the headliners...and they'd get more complaints.

...which they deserve because they've let two parks (some argue 3) completely stagnate and that is unacceptable in the theme park industry. You deserve all the complaints they get.

That's my thing...I don't want paper fastpasses...I'm ok with most of the current system...but there are problems and the net gain is not as big in my opinion as my friend Jade thinks.

We agree to disagree

1. No...no upsells. I'm not that much of a rookie.

2. Plastic is bad under all circumstances...including the old keys. What i hate is that until recently there would be multiple sets sent with my name on them each year. Wasteful. At least that can end.

3. Agree

4. So you don't move out of your comfort zone based on the airlines. Again...works for you. But other people were ok with the old system (I didn't use it early morning)...so I see where some people don't want it. They're not wrong...so you're not right. If somebody wanted two soarin fastpasses and made the effort to get their early to get them...as opposed to a limit of one, captain eo, and the Mickey meet and greet...then that is a valid opinion as well.

5. No...it doesn't end there...it's only the beginning ;)

6. Explain to me how you would "do MGM" conveniently and spare your precious reserved fastpasses?

Would you - perhaps - go early with little lines? Or would you wait in lines outside of the fastpass system in one park to use in another?

Hmm...do you see where I'm going with that one?

Tiers would be fine if there were only two Tier One attractions and one could then cover both by either doing one at opening and the other via fast pass or going to that park two days. But when there are four tier ones and four tier twos (that usually have such a short line getting a fast pass doesn't save you any time) and you can only get one tier one each day then that's annoying. I am hoping at some point they will either reduce the number of tier ones compared to tier twos or allow fast passes to two tier ones a day.

The tiers are shielding Disney from hard questions /complaints...

That's why they are there.

The only way to "fix it" is to add attractions and then drop the tiers

I believe you, this time.

Yes, they now have a system that can indeed get away from plastic, and paper.

Agreed, but you asked why not take an earlier flight, now you know why.

If somebody wanted two soarin fastpasses and made the effort to get their early to get them....

Agreed, it happened all the time, that's why it was changed and they also added another screen.

5. No...it doesn't end there...it's only the beginning ;)

Yep, beginning of doing anything we want the start of every day, with FP+ set for that night.

RD MGM (DHS) without FP+, then FP+ at MK that night.

I'm perfectly fine with adding more attractions and removing tiers. Why wouldn't I be?

But that's not what we like about FP+. Popular attractions (esp new ones) will always have long SB lines, so we intend to reserve for those, then do what else we want each day.

No argument...

But as consumers and fans of Disney for the longterm...we should want more/apply pressure.

I'm 21, FP+ rolled out when I was 19ish and finally old enough to start planning my own trips. We never really used paper FP's. With good planning, we never needed them and the walk was just too much for us in the hear. FP+ is really all I know. I love it, but no offense... It's more for those that are tech savvy. Not neccessarily the young, but just those that are immersed in technology.

I'm really only interested in the bands. They're a lot more comfortable now that they're thinner. I have an apple watch, that would be pretty cool to have it integrated through there. But the battery life sucks, it probably wouldn't last a 16 h park day.

No biggie: I am with you against the tiers and the part of not enough prime rides. I definitely see your point, but for our family and the way we tour (later start, close the parks) it has been fantastic for us and has made our trips so much more fun and relaxing. The biggest fault for us is once we are there and may want to do a different park that day, we are pretty much handcuffed by the FPs. But again, I will take that over the old way. Opinions (everyone's) are just that, and Disney could care less:laughing:

I'm just pointing out that opinions vary and that there are some disadvantages As well...

And good god, I have been "tech savvy" longer than you've been alive...but I'm not 80...give me a skittle of credit.

...but the MDE app...in Particular...is very rudimentary...not so much at home...but when you're there and really need it. I'm all for more tech integration if they can provide the interface without embarassing lag...which happens at the slightest uptick in traffics...

There were glitches with the dining system all week when I was recently there and they couldn't get it ironed out.

I see the advantage for your style...the system works really great for you...

But I think economically you are paying too much per hour for your ticket media..

And considering they seem dead set to do near nightly upsells to double the take for the house...they are moving to eliminate your style or significant limit it. That stinks, don't it?

No argument...

Well isn't it un American to not always "want more"? Heck some "want more" band choices.

As for applying pressure-I don't find it necessary at WDW, but it has improved dramatically for us even this decade, and appears it will continue. The stuff closed was no longer on our radar at all anymore.

I guess I could stomp my feet while I'm there.

...so you get there around 11-12...wait 90 minutes for a couple of them...45 for another?

No your thinking old FP system. It was exactly that, esp peak weeks when we visited.

Those days/worries/stress are long gone.

We've been through this before...the bands were not a capital improvement - they were an infrastucture improvement. Not the same.

I think WDW is "catching up"...which is also not improvement...certainly not for the price increase...

If they continue to do significant revamps 5 years past 2019/2020...then there's a strong case for improvement.

How do you not go in early and not experience long wait times?

And if so...how do you not try to double up on signature rides - in this case two different parks - by using fastpass like the old distasteful paper era? ...which was the undisputed #1 complaint of the old fastpass system on these here boards...

Never said otherwise, just the best improvement our group has ever seen, attractions or otherwise, although DVC is right there as well-esp with all the new "Deluxe" options they have added.

I think WDW is "catching up"...which is also not improvement...certainly not for the price increase...

Yea agree to some degree (stomps feet). But DVC has gained value the last 5 to 10 years dramatically and many new offerings, FP+ was a huge improvement, all the IP investment alone is starting to show up as well.

Heck just getting Star Wars alone has opened up one of the more exciting opportunities-EVER.

But as an American, yes I want it all, and I want it now. Spend it on me.

If they continue to do significant revamps 5 years past 2019/2020...then there's a strong case for improvement.

I guess we can discuss 9 years from now.

Ah got ya.

What I said was we schedule FP+ for the evenings, meaning every morning is wide open to whatever Florida has to offer.

That can be US/IOA, the beach, sleep in, sick (OK hung over), golf, fishing, Citrus Bowl or whatever. Happens about 8 out of 10 days.

It also can be indeed get up early and RD a park we may want to enjoy some attractions (ex 7DMT) we may have on our list yet (hence the RD DHS and FP+ MK at night example)-and then hit the scheduled park that evening. Happens about twice in 10 days.

So I think you might be asking, why not just get up early every day, go in a park, and select as many FP as possible until they are gone. Well we could, and we did on occasion-but we still could not hop to another park and get any good FP, and we still could not do that on arrival day, and we still could not do any of the other FL offerings either (listed above), and we still had the constant stress of getting going as fast as possible or else-your arriving late to find 90 minute waits example.

However, if we were at WDW and only wanted to commando WDW every single day, we would still pick FP+. Then RD one park and close another. Possibly just keep adding FP+ at a given park, but we like the change of scenery and tend to break at the pools anyway.

Another advantage is party size. We often have 14 of us. You can be sure some will be late or even skip the morning, but its much easier knowing they have FP+ for the evening regardless.
