New MB's???

Ah got ya.

What I said was we schedule FP+ for the evenings, meaning every morning is wide open to whatever Florida has to offer.

That can be US/IOA, the beach, sleep in, sick (OK hung over), golf, fishing, Citrus Bowl or whatever. Happens about 8 out of 10 days.

It also can be indeed get up early and RD a park we may want to enjoy some attractions (ex 7DMT) we may have on our list yet (hence the RD DHS and FP+ MK at night example)-and then hit the scheduled park that evening.

So I think you might be asking, why not just get up early every day, go in a park, and select as many FP as possible until they are gone. Well we could, and we did on occasion-but we still could not hop to another park and get any good FP, and we still could not do that on arrival day, and we still could not do any of the other FL offerings either (listed above), and we still had to constant stress of getting going as fast as possible or else-your arriving late to find 90 minute waits example.

However, if we were at WDW and only wanted to commando WDW every single day, we would still pick FP+. Then RD one park and close another. Possibly just keep adding FP+ at a given park, but we like the change of scenery and tend to break at the pools anyway.

No...what I'm saying is that is very similar to people rope dropping and "gaming the system" as you have indicated happened with the old fastpasses.

Getting double the time on premier rides that inevitably are off the table for many others.

Instead of one park, two...and instead of mad dashing day of...the mad dash is to the computer to gobble up those rides on mine train at night...

So In essence...it's just better for you...not better overall or "more fair"

And you pointed out a flaw inadvertently...the "extra fastpasses" is a useless gag...because they offer no options...so you have to do rope drop (or thereabouts) and longterm prebooked at night to get any value...

And...you said repeatedly (like 1000) how distasteful it was to go early to get passes...didn't want to be "rushed"

See...the table gets reversed on most things here. At least this is preference/opinion and not a "debate" of fact...boy I hate those.

Kinda similar to questioning someone's diminished expenditures to the Walt Disney company, huh? Even if the bank says so...

All in good fun/banter :)

I'm just pointing out that opinions vary and that there are some disadvantages As well...

And good god, I have been "tech savvy" longer than you've been alive...but I'm not 80...give me a skittle of credit.

...but the MDE app...in Particular...is very rudimentary...not so much at home...but when you're there and really need it. I'm all for more tech integration if they can provide the interface without embarassing lag...which happens at the slightest uptick in traffics...

There were glitches with the dining system all week when I was recently there and they couldn't get it ironed out.
Oh, well the app is crap-- I'll give you that!

Being tech savvy has nothing to do with age, btw. Plenty of people my age that can't navigate FP+ (or any computer system) to save their lives.

How is reserving one FP+ the same as getting double the time on premier rides?

Also the computer thing-we almost always reserve day before or day of, a few times (more to test) just at the kiosk so...

Either way you can't select 2 Soarin like your example.

What did the fastpass "hogs" always do?

...multiple rides in the "good stuff"...so all the fastpasses would be gone

That's basically the same thing as your advocating expect preplanned and it two parks...

Drives the lines up early...eliminates any options but long standbys at night.

Agreed, and well within their rights of that system. I applaud them, they also waited in lines while holding FP's-why wouldn't they? And yes, even the evening FP's were consumed by the same group.

You can't "preplan" FP+ for 2 parks. You need to ride SB on days you visit early (about 20% of the time for us). With the old system, the early arrivals not only secured the FP's, they also waited in line and drove up the waits. Like your example of arriving to 90 minute waits.

Unless your under the impression that the early arrivals would go get a FP, then just sit around for an hour, use that FP, get another, then sit around for another hour.

Drives the lines up early...eliminates any options but long standbys at night.

How is using zero FP's, until the 3 in the evening (of which none are duplicates) the same as "hogging" (your words) the entire allotment of all FP's of the good/popular attractions by a much smaller subset of visitors by noon, and driving up the lines as well, and obtaining the FP's for the night?

With FP, the lines were driven up early (there were threads of the best process to grab a FP and then hop in a line etc) until all FP's were gone-even the evening ones. So that second group of guest had no options but long lines at night. Early arrivals had the FP's already for the evening, after using the entire days worth.

And by the way, evening FP+ is much easier to get day of, they were all gone in the past.

My point is the net effect is exactly the same...opening rides...fastpasses to be used later...you get six when others may get zero...

Is it "legal"?...of course...as was the old system.

I'm just laughing at how many times you said that the old fast pass stunk because you didn't want to run at rope drop...but in fact you are doing the same as before only your day is in reverse...

Was your only complaint because of the delta schedule out of Omaha...or wherever?

"Jump on a ride...grab a pass for later"

The fact it's in two parks really doesn't matter...it uses limited inventory.

The net effect is equal...only NOW...the crowds are higher more days a year.

How interesting. So you now admit that FP+ IS as good as the old FP.

Well it was 6 FP's for one group, and zero for the rest. Now it's 3 each. It's up to the individual to decide when to schedule them.

If you honestly think you couldn't get way more done arriving early with the old FP than now-then I guess we can agree to disagree, and/or admit FP+ is as good. But you would also have to admit that nobody complains about that then either (I use to get way more done with the old FP).

As for RD 2 days out of 10, that's indeed would be done more but since it stinks-we rarely do it, plus we have 8 days of others things we enjoy instead, not clogging SB and using our allotment later.

It's really more of a "if you really want to get a lot done" there is that option-that's a good thing about FP+ IMO.

It's also if you do miss the morning in the parks (or arrive that day) your still covered, unlike the past.

I'm liking this better all the time.

I hope you're messing with me...but I can't shake the feeling you're serious

What I'm saying...in brite, neon lights...is:

"You are replicating the exact behavior you found so distasteful with the old fastpass with the new "great" system"

Not really looking for an interpretation. As in not at all.

So I find the staunch defense of this great new system to be humorous.

You can disagree...I don't see how it changes anything from an operational standpoint. It is what it is.

I hope you're messing with me...but I can't shake the feeling you're serious.

Hey you said it not me. I wasn't so sure, but I think you've convinced me.

End of tangent as well.

Bring on more band options/improvements.

My point is the net effect is exactly the same...opening rides...fastpasses to be used later...you get six when others may get zero...

Will Disney continue to sell bands once these new ones go into effect?

I don't have an Apple Watch, a Fitbit, or anything that would remotely resemble this. I do own four watches, but they are all of the traditional type (three analog, one digital).

My biggest concern is that these things will be tethered to phones. I refuse to take a cell phone on my next trip. (I'm guessing they won't be though because not everyone has a smart phone).

They don't? Despicable.

Bands will be filler. Phones and watches will become primary. Generic straps for the commoner. Phones for the masses. Fancy stylish magic bands for the collectors.

There is a method to their madness. Or madness to their method.

And I guess soon I'll be a relic of a bygone era, wearing my old fashioned watches...

I do hope they continue to make some fancy straps. If the old style magic bands are still there in June, I'm going all out for the Tower of Terror one.

Especially those $40+ Dooney and Bourke Magicbands...
