Hi! I wasn't sure if someone had already posted these, but I didn't see a previous thread here. So I thought I would post a link to pics of the new Matterhorn bobsleds that were out on the track the other day. I know some people aren't a big fan of losing the old ones, but I think these new ones look pretty spiffy!

I was hoping the old ones would still be there for our visit. My youngest is now tall enough to go, but I would prefer to sit with her, like on the old cars.

I hope that someone posts how the seats are as soon as the ride opens. It's my biggest concern that my family and I won't be able to ride one of most favorite rides again. We are all incredibly tall people (DB is 6'8") and he has problems fitting in the seats at SM. It was always nice to have a full car set to ourselves and we could stretch out without feeling cramped like we do on some of the other rides.

I saw pics a little earlier I guess inside the magic was a little slow but this is the first I've seen of them on the DIS.

I'm not sure they have lap bars on the new cars. They don't look like they can rotate.

Take a look at the pic in this link, it's a closer view.

Closet Mickey, according to some, the Matterhorn will have more long phases of rehabs. I don't know why when it's already been closed for so long.

I'm sad to see the old cars go. I know most people didn't like it but I loved getting jostled around. The new cars do look pretty spiffy though. :)

Seeing the new cars next to the old cars made me realize just how "retro" looking the old cars are

Not that there's anything wrong with "retro"; actually I do prefer the older design aesthetically, but the new design looks so much more comfortable...wonder if the ride will still be as bumpy in the new cars?

It will be nice to not feel like I have to go to the chiropractor after riding, so I am all for new cars!

Did you see some of the Expo auction items. I think a bobsled would be super high priced. I would like a pair to sit in, in my living room.

 I loved it too. I was never able to get the seatbelt tight enough, which is a total safety issue, but it sure made for a fun ride!

Do you think they'll raise the height requirement? I noticed that the seating is different (single at WDW vs double at DL) on SM and the two have different HR (44" at WDW and 40" at DL). I read that they had replaced the WDW vehicles and was wondering if the HR had always been different, or if they changed the HR when that occurred.

From what I've read, they weren't going to install the new sleds until next year's refurb, so are they just testing them while the Matterhorn is down, or are they actually installing them?

Colin25, I think you're right. This install was just for the tracks. Obviously they've got the sleds so I'm not sure why they wouldn't just install them now, but since this was a "track install" they're probably making sure the new sleds don't have problems on it.

I hope they stick to the original schedule because then we can take our 4-year old on it.

I LOVE the new seats! Instead of having one person per car because two can't fit comfortably, this will definitely help along the line. And help my family fit into a single car.

I am interested to know this as well. My little one won't be riding it this fall if they keep the new seats & raise the height.

It bums me out a bit because I have little kids and the old style seats made it easy for them. I thought it was a better first coaster than Gadget Go Coaster because they were basically being hugged by Mom or Dad the whole ride. But as they get bigger I'm sure I'll appreciate it being more comfortable.

I'm also 6'8", and agree that SM(WDW) was a tight squeeze. Hopefully these sleds are a bit better, but only one way to find out.
