Just got this in my email....interesting!

Remember how great it was when you first learned about Disney Vacation Club?
You were wowed by the terrific value, vacation flexibility, deluxe accommodations,
and exemplary Disney service. And like a lot of other Members, you probably wished
you'd gotten in on the best kept Disney Secret much earlier.
With that in mind, now just might be the right time to share the Secret with those who are
near and dear to you. That way they could start enjoying everything our magical community has to offer as Members. Even better, you could begin creating and sharing your own
magical vacation memories together as Disney Vacation Club neighbors.

If you know someone who would like to learn more about Disney Vacation Club, there are several ways for them to discover the best kept Disney Secret:

KWeaver- we must be on the same wavelenth because I was also going to mention this but I wanted to see if anyone else had first. I really wish I knew someone who was able to do this right now. I'll take any reward Disney wants to give me! (and I also utilized the wallpaper for the computer!)

Didn't we get a marketing pitch like this about the time they opened SSR?

I seem to recall some postcards or something you could give your friends.

I think it is probably a good move for Disney. If you get a lead from someone who has a happy friend there might be less "timeshare" stigma to overcome.

LOL...DH just walked over to me with his laptop...new wallpaper installed. Pretty neat looking too!

KWeaver-
The wallpaper is another one of those ''way to keep the magic alive'' things!

Could someone please point me towards the downloadable DVC wallpaper at the dvcfriends.com website? :confused3

Did you get the referal e-mail yet? That's where I got the wallpaper. I was on the dvc site earlier but didn't see anything there.

I wonder if this was sent to everyone, or if only those who live in states that don't restrict referrals got them. We can't get rewards for referrals here in Minnesota, and I have not seen that post card yet.

Didn't get the referral email -- not sure I will. Would love to have an official DVC wallpaper though.

Oh wow, I didn't realize only certain states or regions could get these. (why is that?)
Sorry, I don't know of any other way to get the wallpapers, if I come across it any other way, I'll let you all know.

Let's see if this works:

Various states have enacted laws regulating timeshare sales under the guise of consumer protection. This was mostly back in the days of the dirtball timeshare developer/salesmen...ie. before the big name/reputable companies came along. The laws are certainly archaic in most instances with regard to DVC and other name brand timeshares, but there's really no one willing to pay off,er, campaign contribute, enough to get these types of laws repealed/modified.

Hope that helps,
Joe

A friend of DH's did, he then referred us. Hoping we are asked out to dinner or something! :)

We got our email yesterday in Indiana, and of course installed the wallpaper. Very cute! I just wish I new of someone I could refer...

I purchased by way of a referral. I think my friends didn't even give me a thank you! Not that they are bad people in fact they are amongst my very best friends...but it sort of surprised me. They just rolled the disney dollars into their trip budget and went on their merry way.

We got the e-mail. Our guide told us that in Colorado, it was illegal for them to offer us an incentive if we referred someone. That hasn't stopped them from trying to get us to refer someone :)

We still tell everyone who will listen about DVC. But no one ever listens to us. :flower:

Is their an incentive for Texas.

Hey I think DVC is great, but I think people should get some sort of comp for helping the sales staff.

Thoughts?

Depends entirely on state laws. I don't have the list handy, but if your state is not on the referral reward list, write your legislators. They are the ones that need to change the laws. :flower:

Does anyone have the list of States where referral bonuses can be paid? I know that MA and a few other New England states are eligible, while our friends in MN and a number of Southern and Mid Atlantic states are not.

As for the referral bonuses, we used a colleague of my wife's as our referral, and he got the $200 which he used for greens fees. Over a year ago, I referred a colleague and DVC sent us the bonus, which which is simply passed to my colleague. Other ppl have split the referral bonus with the person they referred. Yeah, $200 isn't much, but I'd pick it up if it were on the sidewalk, enough for a couple of character meals.

But a list of eligible states would be handy. If anyone is talking to their Guide soon, see if you can extract that info and post it.

Ask and ye shall receive:

Due to state laws, DVC is unable to offer the referral bonus in certain states. It is based upon the state in which the referrer (current DVC member) resides.

Here is the list of states that allow referrals:

Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisianna, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missisippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Bonuses are based upon the number of successful referrals in one calendar year. The calendar year is based upon the year in which the closing occurs.

1st referral-$200 Disney Dollars
2nd referral-$350 Disney Dollars
3rd referral-$500 Disney Dollars

Several weeks after closing, DVC will notify the referrer and offer several options for the bonus: receive the funds in cash (Disney Dollars), apply to next year's Annual Dues, or apply toward an add-on purchase.

I'm doing this from memory, but I believe the most recent info sent out also indicates rewards of $750 for the 4th referral and $1000 for the 5th referral.
