New Jersey State Shutdown . . .

"Make no mistake, people are being hurt and unfortunately more will be hurt in the days ahead," the governor told lawmakers during an unprecedented Fourth of July special session.

(from the article above)

i love how he will hurt people just to make a point, and this is the state the he is suppose to be govonering, last time i recalled what a governor was suppose to do was to help his citizens and do what is best for them, not hurt them and make their lives harder

::yes:: :confused3 Did he have to be the big bad wolf and close down all those things, just to prove a point?

no i agree, he absolutly did not have to be the big bad wolf to make that point, but i guess he chose to be and look what/where it is getting him:

ABSOLUTLY NOTHING
and
ABSOLUTLY NOWHERE

but hey this is what he wants to do i guess and all i can say is that it is truelly ruining his rep and is causing a new meaning to stupidity lol

I'm interested in how this is all going to end up :rotfl:

darn...i forgot that my mom's license expires soon and she needs one to get to disney.

It is an odd decision.. yeah, it's drastic and it will get a response - not necessarily a good one or the one he wants - but it will get a response alright.. it seems so childish - "That's now how I want it, so I'm not playing any more"

Just curious - Does anyone know about the beaches.. on the news they said that state beaches are closed...I'm supposed to go to Ocean City, New Jersey in 2 weeks - and hopefully it will be resolved until then! ..I'm sure they're not going to forbid people from stepping on the sand or anything - does it mean like no lifeguards? ..no beach tags?(hehe :woohoo:.. I always end up losing mine! :upsidedow )

lol nope the state beaches are totally closed. They wont let anyone on them, even Seaside ppl arent alowed there were police blocking the gates to let no one in.

Your guys govener remnds me of someone else in our government.

I think this whole shutdown is doing more harm than good. The casinos bring in so much money, especially around the Fourth of July holiday. And if the beaches are closed (which angers me cause I'm going down the shore next week), there really isn't much point in going down the shore except to walk the boardwalk. So lots of businesses down the shore are going to lose money as well, which, in the end, means even less money for the state.

I say we all go to Trenton and scream at Corzine and anyone in government who supported his decision!

my friend was supposed to get her license today but couldn't because the DMV's are all shut down

oo well i'll def join you with your visit to trenton lol....

o and about the beaches yah the public ones will be closed but i know that they cannot close down private beaches, so like if you know someone who has like beach property you can go there

but anyway, its the heart of the summer and these beaches and state parks would bring in so much $ that it is actually ruining the budget instead of helping...uh he has def lost his chance of ever being re-elected lolol

oh how i <3 my state...

I don't know all the details, as I just got home from vaca in Vero Beach, Florida... but yeah..

...yea, I live like 10 minutes from Seaside, yet I have no idea if Seaside is considered a state beach. Is it? Cuz I was planning on going to the beach sometime this weekend. (actually, now that I think about it, i probably won't go even if Seaside Beach is still open. too many stupid Benny's ((our word for tourists)) clogging the beach...)

EDIT: Yea, I just was looking up to see if Seaside was considered a state beach... and guess what? They reached a deal on the budget! *finally* and all things should hopefully go back to normal in a day or two.

...Uh, does NJ's govervor remind us of someone in the US government? 7% tax isn't that bad, in Ohio they do that and taxes are relatively cheap. Are we allowed to impeach governors? I'm scared to see what happens. It might turn into one of those Bob Taft situations...

Sorry... I kept going on and on about lots of different things in one paragraph.

yah we r kinda lucky about the tax but i think in some situations its not necessarily the actually deal but the point of what he is diong ( i dont really know much about it but i think that is what is going on lol - dont take my word on it)
