New iPads released today - iPad Air

"Apple has unveiled several new devices, including a next-generation iPad Air and an iPad Mini with Retina Display.

The next-generation iPad has been dubbed the iPad Air, with a 9.7-inch Retina Displaysame as previous generations, albeit with a smaller bezel. It is 7.5mm thick, 20 percent thinner than the previous version, and features an A7 processor and M7 motion co-processor; it weighs a pound. If anything, it resembles a blown-up iPad Mini, and will replace the big iPad in the companys lineup.

Apple is also updating the 7.9-inch iPad Mini with a Retina Display, a much-requested feature. Its powered by an A7 chip with 64-bit architecture; battery life is 10 hours.

Frankly, I'm more excited by the major update to the Mac operating system codenamed "Mavericks". It's FREE!

As for the Mac Pro, well, it's certainly different and well endowed, but I'm not a fan of the way it looks. Kinda like an ash tray?

In total seriousness I looked at tablets on Amazon and they weren't that much cheaper. I'm not an Apple fan, I do have an iPad but I have a Samsung Galaxy phone. I'm in the market for another iPad or tablet so if anyone knows of a better cheaper tablet let me know!

Yeah, the screen's smaller--so's the price tag ($229).

As for the link--no device is perfect. All depends on what you like, but if I weren't already in the Apple ecosystem, I'd have no problem going with the Nexus 7.

I just don't need another one. I think our large iPAD is now 2 or 3 generations old, Kindle Fire one generation out of date, Google Nexus 7 one generation out of date and now our iPAD mini is one generation old

And they all work just fine and do everything I'm interested in them doing.

All the ever seem to come up with is "thinner and lighter" but it isn't like the current crop is straining my muscles and it seems to be more of a code word for "No, your old case won't fit." Well .... and faster. But again, it's like something that used to take 3 seconds now takes 1.89 seconds. What would I do with all that extra time anyway? Play another round of Candy Crush?

So until I break a couple of screens or whatever, I just can't keep buying just for the sake of keeping the Apple Shareholders richer.
