I just received the All Ears newsletter, and I noticed that one of their readers pointed out that Disney was doing the Salute to the Armed Forces again this year. I know it's been posted here, but on Mousesavers, the code, which is the SAME code sited in this email, said only for Active Duty Military, which SUPPOSEDLY, isn't true. I emailed Deb at All ears, and she told me that she had seen the actual flyer that said... "It is 30% off one to three nights and 40% off four nights or more, from August 1 through October 4, 2005. This offer is good for any active or retired military personnel of the US Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard, and activated members of the National Guard and Reservists, or employee of the Department of Defense. The codes are EXJ for the 30% offer and EXK for the 40% discount. The number to call to get these rates is 407-939-7424.

Just thought this may help someone out. It saved me 900 dollars!! My uncle is retired military, so he was able to get the code for both of our rooms.

Just called and made the reservations. DH is a civilian DOD employee; cast member confirmed that the offer was available to him.

Strange deposit requirements -- not the straight $200 ($187.32 for the room only, $893.43 with tickets), and our MYW hopper tickets had to be bundled separately. Couldn't add the dining, either. I'm going to call back tomorrow and see if another cast member might be able to add the dining or clear some of the confusion.

Anyone else with any experience adding tickets and/or dining to these rates?

Thanks, again!
Judy

I got in on this deal, too, and saved $110.00...WOO HOO!!!

Thanks for posting it!

:Pinkbounc FABULOUS! :Pinkbounc Thanks, TheLeonhardts, for confirming that. When you hear 2 different stories, it's good to have confirmation. I hope this helps lots of others.

About the deposit...I guess it's because this is a room only discount. Not package, or tickets.

That is weird, because I emailed Disney as DH is IN iraq as a reservist, will be home in a few weeks, and the wording I saw excluded him as he will no longer by on active duty. But he will be covered if he shows active orders from this year! I called and was told the same thing! Here is part of what they wrote...

As you are aware, the Walt Disney World® Resort periodically offers special resort rates as a courtesy to military personnel. This offer is valid only for active members of the US Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard and activated members of the National Guard and Reservists. (Activated members of the National Guard and Reservists must show active duty orders, and must have been active sometime since January 1st, 2005.)

The 1 to 3 night room only offer code is EXJ.
Travel dates: August 1, 2005 through October 4, 2005. Booking dates through October 4, 2005.
Reduced rates are available at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campgrounds, Value,
Moderate and Deluxe Resorts.

I'm not sure about that, Bibbity...Evidently there are two stories floating around. I would suggest that if someone is calling for this code to ask the CM. Obviously, the CM's are booking this code for retired Military and Department of Defense employees. I would imagine if they are booking the rooms with this information up front that they would have to honor the rates. I guess it's another case of "call a different CM until you get what you want. But I haven't heard of anyone being refused this offer yet.

I also gave a heads up to Mary Waring of Mousesavers. She has changed the information on her site concerning this discount to include reservists, retirees, and DOD Employees. So I am sure that she verified it somewhere.

I called back last night and spoke to another cast member. As with the first, she read the current offer to me twice and noted that it was now open to DOD employees. This is unusual. What is also unusual is that they've lowered the number of days required to get the 40% discount. It used to be at least 7 nights; now it's down to 4. I keep double checking and will carefully read my reservation information when it arrives.

This is a room only rate. Your deposit is equal to one night's stay with tax. You can buy the MYW tickets separately for the advance purchase price, but you pay for them in full at time of purchase. We're going to wait and buy ours at the resort. You can't add the dining package.

It looks like they threw a few curves into what their standard military discounts used to be -- I think it's taking the cast members by surprise. However, they had no problem pulling up all the pertinent guidance and information once I gave them the code.

$168 for Savannah View at the AKL. Wow!

I already have my room ressies already 3 days at POP< 4 at AKL, I'll have to have the TA look into the 40% for the 4 day part of my stay.

I'm going to buy my tickets at SOG though since I can't add the dining on anyway and SOG tickets are a bit cheaper.

Great news! I too noticed that the offer changed from 40 percent for 7 nights to 4 nights. EVEN BETTER! We got a room at POP for 46.00 a night, and have a ressie for a split stay. So we got a standard room at AKL for 119 a night. Maybe I'll get lucky with an upgrade. If not, standard is fine with me :cool1:

Maybe the included the others in the offer because they didn't get as big of a response as they had anticipated? Either way, looks like this is a confirmed change.
:cheer2:

Lady Bugsy when are you going, we're doing the same split 3 days POP/4 at AKl October 1-8!

Califred...I booked my stay the same time as you...a split stay of 8 nights. And they gave me the 40 percent off right then and there. I even asked if they counted that as a 40 percent off stay since I was splitting the reservation, and she told me yes. Wonder why they didn't book this at 40 percent for you? I would ask them to discount your whole stay for 40 percent.

Just saw your question...lol. We're going Sept. 14th through the 22nd. I see now why they won't add the discount. It says the cutoff date is Oct. 4th. I would still ask them too, though

I just emailed her to have her look into it. It's possible it is but I thought my AKL rate was 150 (including tax) a night and that the POP was 56/night (including tax) all standard rooms. And I have to have two rooms at each hotel. And I did just check those were my rates.

Thanks for having me check!

I am checking in by the 4th so I still get the discount. We are checking into AKL on the 4th to get the discount for the remainder of our stay. It did end up being 152/ night at AKL

Yes, those sound like the 40 percent off offer. Our rooms at Pop and AKL are 46.29 and 119 respectively.

Hm...for a standard room at AKL we are paying 127 a night including tax. Is this the price you will get if you check in early?

My AKL rate was 150 a night with tax.. I emailed the TA to have her check into it.

lol...I'm confused. OKAY. 119.00 per night standard room, AKL NO TAXES added. 46.20 Per night at POP standard room NO TAXES. K..is that clear as mud? LOL.
