I plan on being at AKL for the opening for Kindani for 2 nights but to be honest, the pre-reports sound rather disappoinating. No quick service, where do I fill my mug? Will the pool be ready? No food at all except the sit down restaraunt where the food sounds VERY African. Somebody say something about the new building that will make me glad I am there!!!!!!!:surfweb:

i will be there too from may 1 to may 4 and im a little concerned but not overly...can't find any pictures and not sure where it is in proximity to lobby and food court areas..hope not too far but if it is...can't let that spoil the magic now can we?:thumbsup2

An OKW member who did the Kidani tour said the interior is beautiful and quaint, which I like. Says it has the same feel as Jambo, but much smaller and more intimate. Says the pool area is beautiful and there is a really awesome kids splash area. Savanna veiws are fantastic.

The pool appears to be ready.

As for food, Sanna is an North-Eastern African influenced restaurant that has flavors of Africa and India which is regional to the area and fits with the theming of the resort. There are no plans at this time for additional restaurants at this time (although if demand warrants, they could very well add one).

A short walk from Kidani is the main building (Jambo) where you can also choose from Jiko, Boma and Mara, which again are all themed African with Mara being the least themed and generic.

One of the reports I read from someone who visited Kidani today said that the best way to get to Jambo is by bus. The walk is about a 1/2 mile along a roadway/walkway.

I read a report from a CM who took the tour today - she said you can't walk from Kidani to Jambo, you have to take a bus. Of course that then begs the question of how you would get back to Kidani...

Reports that I've heard say that they'll run the busses like they do at OKW: All busses will go one way except for one that will run the other direction, stopping & starting at Jambo. That way you can catch any bus to go to Jambo and then catch the designated (probably DTD) bus to go back to Kidani.

No quick service, but I've read several reports that there will be a drink refill station near the Kidani pool. :goodvibes

just was told by the member service lady that there WAS quick service at KINDANI is that true???????????:worship:

Just saw a photo of the Kidani lobby giftshop. There is a refill station there.

Regrettably, there is no counter-service venue at Kidani.

Your only option for counter-service while you are at Kidani is to catch a bus back to Jambo's or walk (up to a mile) to Jambo for "The Mara".

It seems really stupid to offer only one counter-service venue at the 2nd largest DVC resort, while The Mara is already overwhelmed with Jambo guests. Our guide did say that many guides expressed their concern over this when details on AKV were first announced to DVC staff, but that their complaints fell on deaf ears.

Thanks for this info. After I posted my original note, I noticed another report that showed a walkway and noted the bus for DTD will run from Jambo to Kidani - that's why I changed my post. :goodvibes

I think I read somewhere that the gift shop will also have grab-n-go food choices - so, nothing hot - probably wraps, packaged salads, baked goods, etc. Hopefully, that's accurate.

I have ressies for July and am leaning towards regrets after learning that there is no CS at Kidani expecially because I have the Deluxe DDP with refillable mugs. I wanted a quick breakfast and to take a bus to the Jumbo house is an annoyance and just plain inconvenient. The wait for the bus is probably longer than the 1/2 mile walk-neither of which I want to do since I rented a car to save on travel time and because I prefer to reserve the walking for the parks. Why didn't WDW take this into consideration for DVC members? I imagine I will be driving over there. That's OK too.

Well, it looks like from the photo's I have seen that you will be able to refill your mug at the Gift shop & maybe the pool bar. As far as CS, there were reports that Kidani was not going to have a CS place even before we were able to make our reservations. If CS is very important to you, you might want to consider checking availability at Jambo House.

Can you say OKW or SSR? Or even BWV? VWL has nothing at that location. BCV has nothing at that location.

My issue w/Kidani is the fact that the walkway to the buses isn't covered...I love the setup at Jambo for the buses and I can't believe they wouldn't do similar at Kidani.

it's an african resort so I think that is the point with the food...... :confused3

and from the begining it was said there may not be a counterservice. So why did some of you buy if that was a main draw for you?

Have to agree here... These resorts dont have much either.. When they announced the building of Kidani.. a QS was never mentioned. Not sure why this is such a surprise... :confused3 Im sure it will be fine..
