New info about Kindani

it's an african resort so I think that is the point with the food......

and from the begining it was said there may not be a counterservice. So why did some of you buy if that was a main draw for you?

First of all.. I bought AKL, not Kidani...
Second of all... I don't think my question was that ludicrus
well to me I guess it was a ludicrous statement...either way they both are African inspired resorts and and in my opinion having african inspired meals is all part of the theming. although i'm not one to argue this is a free board so I made a comment as I saw fit that is it and that's all....

Some of the DVC resorts that have counter service available are so large, that you cannot walk to it anyway from many room locations. OKW and SSR for example.

I think the fact that the DVC villas are equipped with full kitchens (partial in studios) makes it convenient to keep many foods and drinks on hand there. The lack of counter service in a DVC resort would not bother me.

So, Kidani Village is beginning to come into focus now a bit.
Here's what I've learned in the past couple days.:
The refillable mug station is located in the gift shop
Quick, pre-made food is available in the gift shop and at the pool bar.
The resort seems extremely well decorated with African Art.
There is a fire pit in the back of the resort near the savanna.
There is a small bar area near the seating area of Sanaa.
The pool complex looks very nice

Anybody have any other facts they'd like to share.

I think the resort looks awesome and the photos have really gotten me and my family looking forward to our stay in June.:yay:

Will the quick serve items at the pool also include drinks, and items like hot dogs or chicken nuggets? Does anyone know this? Thanks

Anyone know how far Kidani is from Jambo? It looks like it could be a pretty good hike from one to the other.

Does anyone know if there will be a kids menu at Sanna? If so does anyone have a copy of it?

So happy to hear about refillable drinks in gift shop!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

In the pictures, it shows the refillable station (soda, etc.) but does anyone know if they also have coffee available there for the mugs?

I've been looking for the kid's menu, too. Pretty sure they will have one, I can't think of any restaurants that don't. I'm hoping they use the kids menu from Jiko - it has some great, healthy options for the kids and the kids desserts are also fun!

I think Sanaa looks gorgeous! Can't wait to have dinner there with my friend next month (she has managed to reach her 70s without ever visiting WDW!)

DNeph and I will be staying at AKV this summer and I have 2 ADRs at Sanaa for us, but there is nothing on the adult menu that he would eat.

DS will not eat anything on the adult menu either. If all else fails I guess I can ask for a piece of grilled chicken without any sauce.

When SSR first opened did it have a counter service? I was thinking I heard that they added something on for dining, but maybe it was the TS.

It sounds like it won't be much different than OKW and SSR, but Mara is not that large and potentially could become overwhelmed like I hear SSR's CS is at main times.

I knew Kidani wouldn't have CS, but have always thought it was a poor decision. People eat every day and when on vacation many don't even want to make toast - especially if they have the dining plan. I'll be interested to see what they do actually have for food options. We'll be at Jambo in 2 weeks so I'll be able to take it all in first hand (but with a CS option!) ;)

CS at SSR opened with the resort - it was later (due to demand - so there is hope) that the restuarant was added.

But they already have (now) three table service and a counter service at AKL/AKV.

agree - but with little kids quick service at the resort - not a 1/2 mile away will be a benefit.

DVC is still selling this thing - if enough members say to DVC it would be so much better if quick service was there - Disney will listen. they have before.

they are selling this to families - families need quick service for their kids who will not behave in restuarants.

Thanks spicy - I was pretty certain they added something - just wasn't sure which! That could be very encouraging.

True enough. But I believe that DTD TS was considered enough to support SSR at the start but apparently members didn't agree.

At Kidani Village there’s little to eat
Without a long hike and certainly sore feet
If you’re a dissatisfied kind of guest
You can always book at Old Key West
Bigger rooms and full-sized washers can’t be beat! :earsboy:

And if you are at South Point, you still get to walk to Olivia's or Goods to Go. (darn, should have made that rhyme)
