We are going to be new DVC members :)..I have a quesiton about adding on points. They currently have an add on special of getting 2004 points and 2005 points and 100 bonus points but you must add on 120 or more. Are they usually offering great deals like this to add on. I am thinking about only purchasing the minimum of 150 and then doing an add on later if this is the case. Thanks for any insight :)

That is how I wished we had done it!!! I bought 250 all at once. If I had known, I would have waited a bit. That said, prices ARE going up. It happens quickly sometimes, before you can bite. So, it is a dangerous game on some levels.

BUT I saw the math on that add on - if its right, I would definately buy 150 now and then add on 120 more at that rate!

I think incentives for existing members to add-on run along the same lines as AP discounts: if they have inventory they want to clear, they start offering good deals to their best (or existing) customers.

I for one could not resist the two APs offered last fall for 130 point SSR add-on, so we became SSR owners then (plus we happened to need about that many points anyways). The current incentive for existing owners looks decent too, tho I think we have enough points for the moment (famous last words ;)).

Mom Poppins, I think your plan of getting in with 150 points, then adding on more as finances allow/ vacation needs expand, makes a lot of sense. On the other topic, incentives for new buyers as of today, I will look forward to hearing what Larissa tells you. I can't imagine that she would give you anything but the most advantageous deal (she has always steered me in that direction).

Best of luck!

Hope this isn't a stupid question, but if you aren't a member yet, can you get the same deal by purchasing 150 points (that is the minimum for newbies) and get 2004, 2005 points at $90 a point with no dues on either the 2004 or 2005 plus the 100 extra that were mentioned in another thread?

I don't know about this.. I do know you would have to buy your initial 150 points under the current incentive for "new" members. I would think you would have to close your deal before you can proceed with an add on to to get the additional incentives for the other 120 points.

Pumpkinboy~Jonathon~ You are correct Larissa was very helpful in steering me in the right direction. She actually thought the "new" incentives would work best for us and we are going to start off with the 150 and add on later! Thanks for "steering" me in the direction of Larissa she has been great!

 I hope DH and I are settled now and we can get this contract closed!

No it would be for add-on contracts only. The only way to take advantage of the add-on offers is the scenario Mom Poppins gave where you buy the minimum and then add on to take advantage of the incentives.

Some members reported doing this with the AP offer and received 2 AP's by adding on to their newly purchased contract.

It is my understanding that new members will receive $8 off the price per point and DVC will pay the maintenance fees for 2005. You do not receive the additional 100 points allocation for new members.

Where did you find the new incentive package? I would like to get more info.

Thanks.

Our family is also interested in becoming DVC members. On the Disney Online website they mention that current prices start at $14,250. Is this only for SSR? Also, they are advertising a complimentary Disney vacation. Do you suppose that is additional points? :confused3

I know, it does all seem kinda confusing, but I just went threw it myself.
Yes, it is only for SSR, as the rest are sold out. I just bought into SSR. The free vacation promo ended yesterday. Basically, you had a choice- 1) they'd give you 150 extra points to use (just not at SSR). 2) they would take $1500 off of the 14,250 (that is the option I chose). The new promo is a little confusing to me, and seems to be geared to members that want to add on.
HTH!
