Grrreat, another ash cloud, supposed to fly out on Friday!

At this stage it doesn't look like you need to be worried.

Trans-Atlantic flights were being diverted away from Iceland, and there was no sign yet that the eruption would cause the widespread travel disruption triggered last year by ash from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano.

I know how you feel, last year we were in exactly the same situation, 36 hour before our flight Manchester airport was shut, but thankfully the wind changed direction
And from what i can see even if the volcano was to carry on, the wind direction this time is in our favour, as last year it was always coming straight down from the north.

Hi guys,

Bit concerned about this ash cloud. Apparently they will close our airspace next week as it's heading this way.

Do you think this will affect flight prices?

Thanks all, let's all keep everything crossed, and hope it stays out of our way of getting to the Florida sunshine, mind you just lukd at the Orlando weather and says storms for Friday, hey ho!

sky news now reporting it could hit uk airspace on friday! we are flying to tenerife on monday! hope it clears as unsure if ravel insurance covers us

Well this'd just be the icing on the cake for us - supposed to be away next week too. We were stuck in the USA for ten days last year when the other volcano erupted

ok so now i am really in a muddle, we were stuck in lanzarote with the ash cloud last year and ended up paying loads to get new flights home, i have been looking at all the different insurance for our holls this august to wdw, was just about to buy with american express as the cover looked good but they dont cover ash cloud. what do i do now?? any suggestions on which good insurance company cover ash cloud without paying over the odds - i also have a pre existing medical condition which complicates things further!! any ideas - help Catrin

I know following last year everyone is expecting the worst but try not to panic too much, the past two Grimsvotn eruptions did not affect UK air travel so lets hope the third time is the same!

Fingers very much crossed for everyone flying out soon! I'm flying to Ireland tomorrow, and Florida in 6 weeks, so I'm keeping my eye on the news.

I have family in Iceland though, and volcanic eruptions are fairly common there, obviously everyone's on edge because of last year, but there are many that don't cause trouble for us at all, so I hope this will be one of them.

i have bought travel insurance with columbus which includes the ash cloud and pre exsisting medical conditions £84 for a year for me and my hubs

Just out of interest as getting a bit worried now, if the flights were to be cancelled (which we booked direct with monarch from manchester) what would happen to our Disney booking? Not sure wether to ring them beforehand in case, it's difficult to know what to do, would both flight and hol bookings honour a later date, and if the insurance doesnt cover you does the credit card? really wouldn't know where to start!
