Well, we know it HAS to happen b/w now and 12 mid. EST. right?? So, every min. that its not happening, is one min. closer to when it will happen right??

I don't think so. When it was 1:27 am last Thurs, what time zone was that?

You guys need to understand, this is a promotion, advertising for the company. With the large amount of monetary value they are giving away, they need to be able to claim this on their taxes. Now , if they charged you a dollar, the room value would be a dollar and so would be your tax liability.
They are not charging you the dollar, making this a promo or a sweepstakes, which in turn, means you are ultimately responsible for the taxes for the "prize". If the 10-99 you, they have to get your ssn number from you and then you will get a tax form next Jan as well as the IRS receives this information.
If they do not get your ssn, you are still responsible to claim this on your taxes, but, some sweepstakers do not claim all their wins as they say the IRS doesnt know about them unless they have had to fill out the information for the 10-99.

I am not a tax accountant, but a preparer for over 10 years for a major firm and also a pro sweepstaker who has won many many prizes...

the value for the room is the price it costs LMT to procure, you are responsible for that amount.

The other thing to remember, is, if you can get it in writing that you could book the same room for less $$ if you did have to pay taxes, it would be on the lower amount you could prove was an alternative.

Thanks so much! I have another dumb question. I have 2 pages open - 1 that I keep refreshing and 1 on the deal that I want. Do you think that will work? Or should I just have the 1 page open and use it once I see the clock?

I don't know if the 2nd tab will "register" the deal??? Does that make sense?

I read that it won't work if you ahve more than one window open.

and you cannot do it if you live in Canada, Sorry.

Seriously, they need to get the show on the road here! Between the popping and the constant refreshing the only vacation I am going to get is in the looney bin!:joker:

Ok so if I got my room for 7 days (say a moderate resort).. how much would this end up costing me in taxes at the end of the year?

Excuse my bad memory if I am wrong but didn't you win a trip to WDW thru McD's a few years ago? I've won lots of little stuff but never lucky enough to win a trip!

LOL- I've been on here for years and only see tigers once in a while- so all on now is funny!

It's always been my assumption that if you live in Louisiana, you are a Tiger fan. You know like if you lbreath, you like oxygen.

LOL! Like I said, I'd rather pay the $7! :thumbsup2

Good luck everyone! I'm ready for this to get a move on so I can sleep tonight! :faint:

I wuld agree. Except that I know a lot of folks in Lafayette and they hate LSU. Guess they are jealous!

to those that are guessing times what time zone do you think

It is not income like self employment, think more along the lines of gambling, it is taxable but you do not pay SE taxes and the like. I end up having to claim usually over $10,000 a year on my sweepstakes win ( last year a Disney cruise and a plasma tv plus others).

I would like to know what a "pro sweepstaker" is?

Been watching the site pretty much all day. Had to run out a couple of times, groceries, bank etc..(This is my day off) So there is still 15 minutes left, am I right? There has been nothing today????
