Major Changes Coming to Walt Disney World Reservations System

Please note the following information is UNofficial and
has not been released by Walt Disney World.
All Ears "hears" it's coming!

Major changes are coming to the hotel reservation system beginning June 23, 2007. At that time, a new program will be instituted for all reservations beginning January 1, 2008. Pricing and rates for 2008 Walt Disney World hotels will become date specific.

Here's how it effects your budget: You will pay a nightly rate based on the season of that date. If you reserve night 1 under the value season and nights 2-5 under peak season, you will no longer be able to maintain the value season rate for the entire reservation.

Premium rates will now be applied for premium dates. A weekend may be considered premium so that friday and saturday night pricing may be higher than sunday - thursday, even if in the same "season".

In theory, you could be paying a different price for each night of your stay.

The upside, if there is one, is that you no longer have to split reservations and recheck into your hotel.

No word on how this may effect Annual Passholder rates.

When making room only reservations for 2008 you must specifically ask for the rate for each night otherwise you will just be given a total price for your stay. Package pricing will not be broken down by day.

Yesterday I was on the WDW website trying to quote trips for different times of year in 2008, and it didn't seem to want to cooperate. But I'll try it again. So I wonder if by the 23rd they'll be able to quote online.

I already made reservations for my honeymoon for 2008. You can not buy your park tickets yet but you can reserve a room, just call and speak with someone. They said I can not buy my park tickets until 6 months before I arrive.

I called and tried to just make room reservations, but they wouldn't allow me to because Summer 2008 rates have not been finialized yet.

Something interesting that I just saw. I'm not sure if it was a fluke or computer glitch. I was just on the Disney website and in the year category it was showing up to 2021. When I tried to put in a date to make a reservation it said the system was down for maintenance until 7 A.M. EST tomorrow. Looks like I will check back then to see.

I wish they would let you break down the package price. We are going in DEC during holiday rates, but are still going to be there during January value rates. But, we are paying holiday rates for the entire time.
