Just looking for people's views on whether we have got a good deal. We booked for the first time today with Thomson's but through Thomas Cook (as we had Thomas Cook worldwide vouchers that we had saved to use).

Anyway we have booked 14nights for 2adults and 2 children (age 7 and 4) at Disney Caribbean Beach, leaving 30th June 2015 from Manchester, including intermediate SUV and full insurance, qsdp, tickets for disney and universal. Not sure if the $200 gift card is included, travel agent is going to check and let us know tomorrow. Total amount is £6000. Having never done this before I think we got a good deal but would like to hear people's opinions.

:welcome:

A quick look and you could have got:

CBR with tickets & QSDP (inc $200 gift card) from WDW - £3076
Universal tickets from Orlando Attractions - £456
Car Hire (Gold Insurance) from US Rentacar - £400

Total £3932 which leaves £2368 for flights or £592 per person.

I would expect the car hire to be reduced a bit as not many brokers have prices our yet.

For a package it isn't horribly over-priced but there was room to save money in there. :thumbsup2

Welcome :goodvibes

As Tracy says it isn't way overpriced. You probably wouldn't do much better buying a package but buying it all yourself at the right time you could have saved some money. Downside is it can be very time consuming with lots of searching so for a 1st trip you did OK.

Hi, I read elsewhere thomsons aren't doing the $200 gift card, but unsure if through tc.

I think you've done well for your first time.
We didn't even know disney had resorts before our first orlando holiday:rolleyes1

We got well ripped off our first few trips by booking through tas.
Only discovered this when we couldn't fly from our local airport due to changing the flights..
Won't dwell on what could've been though,we went;and had wonderful holidays.

I think that our issue was we couldn't do it ourselves as due to the amount of vouchers we had through my husbands work we were restricted to booking through Thomas Cook.

It is nice to see the difference in prices when you do it yourself and will definitely be a learning experience for us that we are probably better doing it ourselves in future. Thank you xXx

Its a learning curve, the first time you go you will find all the hints and wrinkles that you will use in the future. Enjoy yourselves and rest in the knowledge that you have a wonderful holiday booked. Now get on with the saving for spending money!!!

Hi Welcome:wave2:

As per above posts you did ok but IMO for a first trip its good to have it all done for you to take the pressure off the continuous searching for the DIY deal. Hope you do realise that this will be a first trip of many:rotfl: and that the next time you may feel confident enough to book it DIY especially with the help of the great folks on here. :cool1:
