Hi all,

I'm so sorry if this has been answered many times, I did try to search through a lot of threads, but couldn't really find what I needed. I'm new to this forum, but not to the American Disney parks. We're thinking about doing a trip to Japan and of course doing the Tokyo parks. I'm on their website, and wow is it ever different. From what I'm seeing I can buy a package, which gets me hotel, tickets, some fast passes (I know they're likely not called this, but that's essentially what they are I think?), and meals. But I can only get a max of 2 nights and 3 park days. And I really don't need the prepaid meals. But when I look at tickets, all I can see if 1 day tickets. Can I book a hotel for more than 2 nights on it's own, and then buy multiple day tickets? Is this even an option? What are people doing if they want more than 3 days in the parks? Buying more than one vacation package? Is that an option? I'd rather not have the prepaid meals, unless there's a really good reason to have them? Like you can't get reservations without doing the package? Oh and also, the package is forcing me to only have one DL day and 2 Disney Sea Days, is that what we'd want if we only did 3 days?

Any other info you think I should know would also be great appreciated. I feel a bit lost with this planning.

You can book hotel and buy multiple 1 day tickets separately.

The main advantage of the vacation packages is being able to prebook your premier access passes, or even an unlimited pass excluding the new Fantasy Spring rides. VP booking opens earlier than regular hotel and restaurant reservations, so you get first dibs. Breakfast is included, but other meals are optional and require paying for a set meal. The downside is the upcharge.

If you can only do three days then yes I would use two at DisneySea and one at Disneyland. It is the better park and unlike any of the USA parks so worth more than one day. They used to sell up to four days passes but that was pre-covid. Now you have to buy multiple one day tickets if you don't want a package but want more than one day.

Thanks so much! This helps a lot.

wanderlust7, what do you mean that breakfast in included but other meals are optional? When I just went in to play with it, it asked me to choose a lunch and dinner restaurant for each day, and a time.

I found the "no restaurant" option when booking the vacation packages to be hard to find initially. It is there though- I found it helpful to do a couple of test runs before the real booking.

If you need to stitch your days together, but not switch rooms- the room type needs to be exactly the same. For example, I had DL hotel room 1-3 floors and 3-?6? with same bed types. The common denominator was 3rd floor, so I inquired if I could be placed on the 3rd floor, but it needed to be exact same. So I ended up switching out to the same room type.

Some hotels can sell out very quickly whether vacation package or hotel only. It's found it very helpful to research and rank the room types for each hotel I wanted to book in advance, so I could quickly reserve.

The vacation packages are a hefty cost, but if you're going during a more crowded time, I found that the packages were "worth it" for my time. They are very efficient with the equivalent of the "fastpass/lightening lane," and when many rides were over an hour wait, it was very useful to bypass the waiting. Also, the parks are not open as late as the American parks- so time is more compressed to fit in rides with long waits. Since I was likely only visit once in my life, I splurged on two vacation package days. I was very happy with the choice, because of the ability to get to have experiences without the stress of running out of time. I agree with others on DisneySea needing more time than DL.

Lastly, a big difference I noticed in the park is the adherence to structure and rules. I think there are times in the American parks where there might be leniency for some situations, and that is less so for the Tokyo parks. In a way, it is helpful because you know what's included and what isn't in a more direct way if the translations are correct.
