New general public discount

Everyone who has posted about changing to the new discount plan... You are calling in and asking to forego the Gift Card and take the room discount to save money right? You are not getting the discount AND the GC?

I ran the numbers last night for my particular trip. It looks like if I go with the room discount I would save $482 on the total package. If I go the other route I spend the 482 to get the $500 gift card.

It would be great to find a way to get both.

Yes I gave up the gift card because the new discount is better at least at the Beach club it is-

We were staying 1 night room only at the pop - but I gave that up and the gift card - now we are staying the whole trip at the poly and we saved a LOT!!!

I did the same thing as the poster above. Had Coronado reserved at rack rates, got the 40% off for my 6 night stay...saved $896 which is more than the $750 gift card I gave up.

Called today to see about getting the new discount on my CR room but they said it wasn't available. BUT... what they did come up with was that I could stay at the GF instead. I wouldn't be getting the 750 GC but I would be saving 700! So for 50 more I can stay in a garden view at GF!!

WWYD? CR garden view or GF garden view?

We are staying for 9 nights from April 23 to May 2 I already booked with an e-mail pin savings of 35% off moderate resort. Can I now book 5 nights to get the $500 gift card and then book the other 4 nights at the 35% off?? From what I can figure, it would save me an additional $150 Thanks for the help, Mary

Our family of 7 (6+a baby) originally had two Pop rooms 7 nights w/PH and DDP booked for $4725 at rack rate.

I then switched to two CBR rooms using the gc code and that was $4442 w/o the DDP and we were just going to use the cards (2 of them) for food.

NOW, I called this evening and got a deluxe CL room at BWI w/ PH for $4827!

I can't believe it. I've always wanted to stay there, but to pay for two rooms at a deluxe or the deluxe CL room at rack rate would have been out of the question... but with the room discount code we saved $2065!!!

So, we get my dream room, concierge service, daily breakfast and snacks, staying next to our two favorite parks and are only paying $102 more than our original value reservation. WoooHoooo!

We love the CR (and are now DVC members who own at BLT), but for $50.00 I would go with the GF.

I have never stayed there but it is a beautiful resort and I think, worth the extra money!!!

We got the park hopper option on our tickets. That added $50 per person, so $300. If you do base tickets, the week would cost even less, around $4500.

Hope you have good luck upgrading, too... if that's what you decide. I think it's totally worth it... but I really wanted BWI.

This is exactly what I did the other day (except we have 8 nights). The CM told me it was no problem. I mentioned to her that I knew it was a possibility that we may have to move rooms and she said she would do everything on her end to try and make sure that doesn't happen. Just to make sure that we remind them when we check in that we have the 2 reservations back to back. I think I'll definitely skip the online check in this trip.

Welcome!
The promo going on now ends March 27. It is for bookings through June 3rd I think.

The pins are given out randomly but you can get the Disney DVD and go sign up on their website so you increase your chances.

I don't know if there is a thread for abbreviations but if you are wondering about a specific one, I might can help.

Also...

The promo that this thread refers to is public. There are two seperate public special offers right now that both cover Jan 3-June 3. If you go to the WDW, just click on the icon at the bottom that says, "special offers." You won't need an email for anything that shows up there.

The Swan and Dolphin Resorts are the only resorts with a teacher discount. They are on Disney property but owned by Starwood.
