New general public discount

I know that you have to stay 5 nights to get the higher discount with the general public code. Do you have to stay 5 nights to get the AP rate also?

Wow, just to make sure, you average 100 a day for the 5 of you? Is that possible? If you can w/ 3 teens, I would think I def can w/ two skinny elementary boys who often share kids' meals since they eat so little. I have to force them to eat! But that makes me want to consider dropping the dining if that is what you are saying. I like to eat but I don't like the scheduling all those din reservations that would come w/ the reg. dining plan, I was already mulling just doing the TS dining plan instead and just doing a couple of TS during the week and paying out of pocket. Since I have boys, I told my husband we are in luck since they could care less about dining w/ Cinderella :cool1: .

Also, can anyone say how long before they think the resorts will start maxing out the discounted rooms w/ this new discount? Am I safe waiting a week or two? We prob will go w/ POR FQ or Contemporary. Still trying to decide.

We find it definitely possible. That averages about 10 per counter service meal. Some are $8, some are $10 and some are $12. If your children are splitting a children's meal it would be less. We are 5 and get out of there from $40 - 55, depending on the place. Go to allearsnet.com and check out their menus. You'll see what your children might order and what you might order. With only 4 of you I don't see how you'd be going over averaging $50 per lunch & dinner unless you are getting sodas & desserts. If you want those, simply budget for them. They aren't important for us.

Please do remember I'm saying 'averaging.' If we eat pizza for dinner it is under $20 for all 5. That leaves $30 for other meals. Some meals are more expensive and others are less. I would definitely check out the menus online so you have a clear idea of what the possibilities are. Good luck!

Where on the disney site does it say 5% for 5 nights or more?

When you click on the special offers tab, and then the 'save at least 25%' link, it takes you to a table showing the discount percentage and 2 columns, 1 for "stay 1 to 4 nights", and the other "stay 5 or more nights".

teacher31 I love your thinking skills. For my family of 5 which include a teen and a 2yr and 5yr old toddler we can also get by with 100.00 a day or less on food. It also helps because we drive to Disney (only takes 9 hours) so we have our vehicle to go offsite to eat. I love this idea because we eat when we want to without making ressie.

The AP rate works the same way for this promotion; the longer you stay the better the discount is. However, the AP rate offers a slightly bigger discount. (I think it's about 5% more than the general public rate.)

We originally had the 40% AP pin for our two nights (two rooms) at WL. With the new code, the AP is 42% off. So we saved a total of $28.80!

Not a lot I know, but better to make the call and save a few $$!:goodvibes

It's a nice public offer! Pretty much the same as the pin some people got through June, if not a tad bit better!

I'm wanting April 5th - 9th. Did this offer include these dates? I have an AP and have been on both the AP site and the regular and can't find these discounted rates.

Unfortunately, today's new deal precludes stays bewtween March 38th and April 11th.

I really should switch from the GC offer to this because DH only wanted to stay for 4 nights before moving to US/IOA for the rest of the week but I'd love to stay for 5 nights at Disney.

He would never know about this new discount if I don't tell him and I could use the GC to pay for meals and pay towards my Dec. 2010 solo trip so I'd get good use from it.

Sigh - what to do, what to do.

So, for those of you who follow room discounts - does this likely mean there's no chance of us getting a discount for April 5-9th?

I have been trying to check availability online...and can't even get on the site. I may have to pick up the phone and call.....

Also, am I correct that this discount is availabe as long as the start of the vacation is by 6/3, even if you stay longer? That's how it looks to me but I am not sure. Kids are out of school last week of May so we could go and arrive by 5/28.

You have to check out by the end of the promo period. We got a similar PIN in the mail that ends June 12, which is the date we originally wanted to check in but when quoting the vacation the CM checked and the PIN rate was only good for the 12th then went up for the rest of the week so now we going a week earlier so we can get the 40% off the whole week.

question:

This is a room only code but when I go to the website, I can add ticket and dining plan. It goes all the way through to end and it's 500 dollars cheaper than just going and pricing a package. Will it let me do this????? I always thought a room only discount meant you could only get a room, nothing added on.

Ya, I didn't mention that I was staying at CBR - so the room only discount is better than the gift card for those staying at a deluxe resort. It might be a wash for me since I am staying at CBR..... Since it is for your entire stay I might have to keep crunching numbers :)! To find out what is best for my family of 4!

Not for us in a standard room at WL, if there are still two available when we book. 7 nights for two rooms and tix with 40% off is just around $5,000. 5 nights RR with two $750 GC is also right around $5,000. Then we add the two additional nights with the 40% off code ($700 to $900 depending on what's available when we book) and we still come out $600 to $800 ahead. Our situation is unique, though, because we all need tix and we also need two rooms.

Twice I have booked a room only discount as a package. They just add the other elements at full price and only the room portion is discounted. Shouldn't be a problem. Let me know, though. I'm trying to decide between this and the gc promo... knowing might help me make a decision.

You should be able to add them on, at full price. When I was on there running my numbers, I added tix to the discounted room with no problem. I think when you call and do this, some CMs who are misinformed might give you a hard time, but you shouldn't have a problem online.
