New GAC Policies? (Long)

I wonder if this took place at the Haunted Mansion. With the new accessible queue maybe the GAC users are directed to still enter through the exit?

We went into dinosaur with mom on an ECV. I can only say that I should never have let her go in on the ECV. She could not navigate the turns and then got upset and crashed into a pole. She really needed to go through the exit and skip the turns in the line. An alternative entrance.

ECV's are a great option but without a GAC there are some that need to have the ability to navigate evaluated. My mom will never have a ECV again but I will push her in a chair.

I stopped by Guest Relation in the Magic Kingdom today and specifically asked if there had been any changes at all related to the GAC recently. I talked to a coordinator and he said that there have been no changes.

If a person is in a wheelchair or ECV all they need to do is follow the instructions of the CM at the attraction. Anyone with a Wheelchair or ECV will only need a GAC is there is an invisible disability, such as vision or hearing related which may override the disabled seating area.

And the access method, with or without a GAC, will vary depending on what is needed and crowds.

Thanks for asking! So you feel that the cast member that issued my son-in-law's GAC should have asked about his needs? That perhaps he just made an assumption of them because he was in a scooter? When my daughter offered to tell him and he refused, I really thought that there might have been a change in policy.

Thank you for checking, Cheshire Figment.

I will say that when we got a GAC for DD at the end of March 2011, we were asked to explain her needs. I had an old GAC, which I showed the CM. She said, "I'm just going to ask you a few questions about her needs so that we know nothing has changed and can know how to meet them."
This was the same as had happened in October of 2010. And, we did get a GAC with a stamped message each time.

I am going to close this thread at this point since Cheshire Figment has confirmed for us that there has been no change in procedure.

I don't know what happened in the OP's situation and since we have no way to know, there is no point in trying to guess at this point.
A good point to remember though is that if the GAC you are given does not meet your needs, you can always take it back to Guest Relations, explain what is not working for you and ask if there is anything else they can suggest.

As Cheshire Figment posted, "If a person is in a wheelchair or ECV all they need to do is follow the instructions of the CM at the attraction. Anyone with a Wheelchair or ECV will only need a GAC is there is an invisible disability, such as vision or hearing related which may override the disabled seating area.

So, if you have an ECV or wheelchair and the access is working for you, you don't need a GAC.
