New free dining offer yeaaah

We are staying 10/7-10/11 Poly CL booked through AAA (2 adults). Applying FD would increase our package by 360.00 as we would lose the AAA discount. It looks like we would be better off keeping the AAA as any $ we could possibly save on food would be less than 360.00. We are primarily going for the F&W Festival with only 2 ADRs booked-California Grill and Hollywood Brown Derby, as well as planning on attending PFTS. We don't usually do counter service because of snacking our way around WS, so it wouldn't make sense for us this trip to switch to the FD promo.
Congrats to all that got their great deals :)

i emailed my TA this morning to see if she got the free dining for me. she said she would call me later. I have not heard from her at all. would it be wrong for me to call disney myself? Or am I stressing for no reason?

I heard from my planner that she was working on it at 11:30 this morning. I received an email around 7:30 pm with my new reservation. I was told that they had as much trouble getting in as everyone else, also her internet went out.

I don't know how it would work calling Disney while being booked through a TA. Good luck.

thanks for the info. I looked it up and no update. YIKES!! Guess I will have to call her first thing tomorrow!!

I have not received my confirmation from Disney yet, however, my TA (Laura From Pixie & Pirate Destinations) sent me her Disney confirmation immediately when she was done. She said I should be able to pull it up on the Disney site tomorrow.

Maybe you should switch TA's :confused3

Do we know for sure that we can pick up our park tickets at DTD or any park Guest Relations office a couple days prior to the start of our FD package? We had to do a split stay to hit the free dining dates.

I've read the ticket sticky and the post 666 of page 45 of this thread and it says you can BUT my travel agent and a friend's TA BOTH said that they were also "told that Disney will not be allowing anyone to pick up park tickets for a package until the day the actual package reservation begins". Different TA's and different offices. I tried calling Guest Relations tonight and of course they're closed. I'm not going to sleep tonight. I KNOW the DISers are right but tired of trying to get everyone else to believe me is frustrating. SO....can anyone else verify this for me? :confused3

Thanks!

whew, my ta just let me know that she got the fd for us. When i emailed her about it earlier this week she repsonded that the 1st dates where oct 2 -6 (not the 8th which is correct) . I was a little worried but she got it worked out. She said that they were having problems to with booking as it is very busy today. She didn't email me until after 8 pm.

Spoke to a CM @ 10:30 pm after being on hold for just over 1/2 an hour...think I JUST got through before they closed the lines for the night.

Anyway, I called to see about upgrading our already FD Value Package to a Mod or Delux. POFQ was filled, CS was still available. Nothing available on any of the AK properties.

Guess we'll keep our savings for the June trip when we WILL be staying @ AKL!!!

THANKS AGAIN to everyone who contributed to this thread:grouphug:

We have never done Free Dining before but have been looking for a discount for a possible fall trip with no success so I have really been running the numbers round and round. Between a tight work schedule and no discounts I never thought anything could work BUT I called around 2:50 PM today and put a hold on a FD package for the Poly for late November. FD will save us about $700 even if we have to restrict our eating a bit (we usually like 2 TS meals a day but I don't want to upgrade our package).

The only way we could save even more money is if they announce a 40% discount in mid-August for our dates. Switching to that would save us a little over $350 more but who knows if a Poly Garden View room would be available at that time.

Anyway, I am surprised that FD could save us money at all for a Deluxe based on all that I had read for the past year. Now I have to convince DH that this is worth it!

Glad to hear that so many people have gotten what they wanted!!!

Just wanted to come on here and thank Danny25 for the information. Since he posted the details of the free dining promotion on 7/29, I have been patiently waiting, (ok, ok, not so patiently :rotfl2:) for today. I was able to book our trip for a trifecta of celebrations. MNSSHP, F&W and my birthday!!!! So, thanks again Danny. You rock!!!! :thumbsup2:cheer2:

Sounds like even the people that called later in the day got free dining. If I can control myself, and sleep, next time I am NOT getting up at 645 to wait for 1hr and 28 min. I am going to have long lasting stomach problems after today with the crazy phone noises, music on/music off and to top it off, DIS crashes so I have no idea if anyone else is having the same problems. OK, I am done ranting, my stomach is hurting again just typing about it!

You will be able to call a month from now and get FD.

Or even longer. I have seen FD sell out at some resorts but never right away and I have yet to hear of FD selling out all together.

So I'm talking DH into booking onsite for our March trip b/c it falls into the FD dates, he said we could do it when I get back from taking the kids to Disney in two weeks.

I assume I'll have no problems booking a Cabin at Fort Wilderness with the Free Dining Promotion if I wait until then (about a month)?

After 90+ min of being on hold with utter silence this a.m., a great CM dumped my room-only ressie at Pop and switched us to free QSDP :thumbsup2

BUT, he said we'd get a new confirmation email for the QSDP package, got it very soon after, and he also said we'd get another email confirming the cancellation of our room-only ressie, but I never got one. Should I be worried it wasn't canceled properly??? We arrive on 10/2 so we're close to the 45 day window and I do not want to pay for this trip twice!

The policy is no, due to previous fraud issues. It will no longer be allowed. We were sent several emails today reminding us of this.

I'm a bad DISer. :lmao: I waited until the offer went up on the website. I knew it wasn't a good sign when the Dis crashed!

I made a reservation on the "80% positive I'm going" statement DBF said. (Going with mother & her partner. But if DBF comes, I'll be switching which reservation I'm listed on!)

DANNY, thank you! I've been following this thread from Day 1. I got a HUGE kick out of the offer on the website. I LOVE that users said they pictured Danny as Timon, and then the FD for fall/winter is of Timon :rotfl::rotfl:

Room-only reservations don't fall under the same 45 day cancellation policy that applies for packages, I believe it's 5 days prior, or least it was last year.

If you have your room-only reservation number handy, why not just go to WDW website and pull it up under "my reservations" to see if it's still active?

Fraud issues? They've always required a photo ID. Please explain. :confused3

I believe it. We did early ticket pickup last year... and well, we realized a glitch there and wondered how many have taken advantage of said glitch. I admit I was OMG when I realized what had happend... but no, FYI, we did not take advantage of it.

Have been nervous about my FD reservation and showing up and having 3 days without tickets....after what have been reading on here the past day, and also just thinking in general what if policy were to change between then and when I show up for my trip....don't want to take chance of getting there and having no tickets.

Am going to switch to the AP rate instead. Actually, AP saves me $40 more than FD did... but with FD I had 2 extra 2-day tickets to hold onto for future use for the cost of that $40.
